SUU @ #4 Weber State - Homecoming Week

Not the win we were hoping for, but probably the win we knew was inevitable. SUU seems to bring out the ugly in any game they play.

Offense - C plus
Awful first half. Eventually a solid run game emerged despite an anemic passing game. Jenks didn't turn the ball over while dealing with a terrible effort by the offensive line. Something is broken with the scheme and/or the personnel. Way too many defenders in the backfield.
Weber was 4 of 13 on 3rd down and 4 of 5 in the redzone.

Defense - B plus
We owned the line of scrimmage which ultimately won the game. SUU had no running threat and only gained 69 yards on 30 carries even with two long runs for 20 and 18 yards. Weber had 3 sacks and hurried several throws which resulted in 4 interceptions and forced 2 fumbles. Neither fumble was recovered, but Weber won the turnover battle again and is now +10 in turnover margin for the year.

Special Teams - C plus
After two amazing weeks, special teams was not very special. The return game was so close to breaking several big plays. Rashid Shaheed was again denied a a TD return on a penalty. Punting was solid with 6 punts for a 44.2 yard avg. Trey Tuttle missed a FG and an XP try.

Injuries
Jenks started at QB and looked healthy. Josh Davis and Adam Rodriguez both returned from concussion protocol. Constantine (knee) and Tyler Downs (knee) were still out and did not play. No significant injuries this game.

Penalties
Weber looked better except for a few untimely penalties including an unsportsmanlike conduct after a 3rd down stop and a couple illegal substitution calls. Referees missed a lot of calls in this game including a potential targeting on SUU, a weak block in the back call on a punt return, and about a thousand potential holding calls.

Three straight wins over SUU, which is all that really matters.

We are 23.5 point favorites with an implied score of about 41-17.

We should win, but we won't likely cover that spread.

You wanna bet :-D

You would save me a trip to the sports books. How much action are you looking for?

I’d throw a friendly $20 wager on it.

Hello friend....

Gut feeling that this will be a coming out party for the offense today. Weber runs for 200 and passes for 200 dominates the first half and coasts to a nice win. SUU will get a late score to cover.

Weber 34-17

I was right and wrong.

Weber got 200 yards rushing and then took a knee.
SUU got a late score to cover the spread.

Weber did not dominate the first half and coast.
Our passing attack stinks.
