SUU Round 2

Awesome win by our Cats! I wasn't in Cedar, but I could only imagine how unbearable the SUU fans were after the first quarter. Serious vindication by the Cats! SUU is lucky the score was as close as it was, that game could have been 51-13.

Actually, the SUU fans were fairly quiet the entire game. Even before the game, as I chatted with a few of them, they were reserved and worried about taking a loss. I think they were as surprised by their win in Ogden as we were. That game was an abomination, a freak event. Those kind of things can happen to a team, from time to time.

WSU's defense only allowed 38 yards in the second half. Holy crap! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

I got 58, but still.

2nd half WSU -- SUU
possessions-yardage-AvgYrdsPerPoss
6-243-40.5 -- 5-58-11.6

38 is the official word from Paul Grua, WSU's sports information director.
There were a couple of penalties in there that would have accounted for a few mor yards. However, they wouldn't count as yards gained.

One of my favoriite things about yesterday's game wasnt even apart of the game. I was sitting on the east stands watching this Weber fan with a flag who was walking through the SUU fans. And when they started booing him he starting waving the flag.

Priceless

Stefan Cantwell is a special player... I'm really bummed we only get him 1 year as a starter. What a fun year tho. The guy is a winner. Bingham, Snow, and now Weber. Bring on JMU!!!!

:agree: It's too bad what he means to this team isn't reflected in personal accolades because as Cantwell goes, Weber goes.

Speaking of losing Seniors, we are going to lose a handful of very talented players. I was glad to see Satuala have a couple big catches and nice game. Those of you who know player personnel well, which players will be the toughest losses and/or hardest to replace? The obvious ones to me would be Cantwell, Vollart, Johnson, Batchelor. Who else will be a tough replacement? I have to believe their success this season and continued exposure to come will only help their ability to continue to recruit better.

1 Taron Johnson CB 6-0 185 SR Sacramento, CA
3 Darryl Denby WR 5-9 170 SR Murrieta, CA
9 Arnold Lopez S 5-10 190 SR San Jose, CA
11 Stefan Cantwell QB 6-2 220 SR South Jordan, UT
13 Drew Batchelor WR 6-0 185 SR Saint George, UT
17 Alema Key LB 6-0 230 SR Springville, UT
22 Xequille Harry CB 5-11 160 SR Bountiful, UT
33 Tui Satuala TE 6-2 240 SR Bountiful, UT
44 Cardon Malan DL 6-3 250 SR Fruit Heights, UT
48 Jacob DeMaio P 6-5 205 SR Danville, CA
52 Rayshawn Henderson DT 6-1 295 SR Las Vegas, NV
61 Devan Alldredge OL 6-0 290 SR Castle Rock, CO
69 Brady Simpson OL 6-2 280 SR West Richland, WA
87 Andrew Vollert TE 6-5 245 SR San Mateo, CA
90 McKay Murphy DT 6-4 295 SR Alpine, UT
97 Likio Pope DT 5-11 290 SR Orem, UT
98 Adam Lewis DE 6-6 265 SR Meridian, ID

Losing Cantwell, Johnson, Vollert, Malan and Murphy will hurt the most.

Of course, losing players and having to replace them with less experienced players is a challenge. However, when I look at our roster and the amount of experience returning, I am encouraged. We have had good recruiting over the past 4 years and it is showing through as more speed, more size, more strength, and more depth. Yes we could have a freshman or sophomore starting QB next year, but we have a stable of quality running backs, receivers, DBs, LBs, OLs, DLs, punter and kicker. I don't think we miss a beat next year, and maybe we get better. We have some really good freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in the program right now and I'm sure that we will have another great recruiting year.

I guess what I am saying is: Don't worry. Be happy. Every little thing, is gonna be alright.

I don’t losing people will hurt a good staff and great coaching prime example North Dakota been on run will lots of players just hope for the best on that may have to change if we don’t have the qb is the offense college ball is competitive if a player is not doing there job there’s about another 4 on the roster to put in the work....

So did we get the trophy back or did this game not count towards that?
As I understand it, only the regular season game counts for that. I think we have to wait for next years game for that little nugget. As for SUU, they will likely go into another full year of scheming to beat us. It will occupy their minds 24/7/365 until they can win again. Let's hope it takes them 20 years to do it.

Makes sense I guess, too bad we couldn't have taken that and the playoff win back to Ogden.

I guess the playoff win will have to do

Only twice since 2004 has a home team won in this series, Weber in 2006 and SUU in 2014.

Which means the home team is 2-9 in that span
