Coach Boyle and the staff last night announced the winners of this year's team awards:

Top rebounder: Jabril Banks
Top assists: Thanasi Panagiotakopulos
Top defender (as voted by team): Robert Palacios
Most improved (as voted by team): Devon Beitzel
Bear Pride (as voted by team, for the player who most exlempifies the goals and ideals of the program): Terry Anderson
Mike Higgins MVP (as voted by team): Jabril Banks

It was announced that Terry will become an undergrad assistant with the program next fall, while doing his student teaching.

Thanasi, Terry and Sean Taibi were all recognized with chairs from the locker room, bearing the team's logos and their names. Kirk Archibeque and last year's three seniors will also recieve same.

Beitzel is an interesting player... he went off big a few times but then rode the pine a lot also. I wonder if he'll really step up the consistency next year and contribute night in and night out. :?:

So just for shits and giggles anyone have projections on next years starting line up?

Banks and Montgomery or Kingman up front

Mason and Palacios on the wings

And I guess Garrett at the point although that scares me a little.

And good to see Anderson stick around. I don't know much about him but he seems like a nice kid. Also, nice to kind of build from within the program and keep some homegrown talent around that knows the program and will (hopefully) be a little more loyal than an outsider.

Congrats to all those guys! I would have said Thanasi was the most improved though. He really cut down on his turnovers it seemed.

As far as next year, I am concerned about our height. The point guard will probably be that top recruit out of Texas.

I am actually not too worried about the back court for next year, but what I am concerned about is the front court. We were over matched last year by some of the bigger teams like Montana. I hope Kingman is hitting the weights this off season because he really needs it. He could be special player if he put some muscle on.
