Well, THAT I can understand. Of course you would need a salary like that to afford to live in Boulder.

Yeah, this whole hating on Tad thing gets on my nerves as well. Are we sure that we would be where we are today without TB? It's not even a discussion. He left for a salary that pays about 6 times as much as he was getting in Greeley. He left for CU because he's a Colorado guy and wanted his family to stick around here. No matter what, UNC is always going to be a team that loses their successful head coaches to bigger schools for bigger paychecks. So instead of laughing at Tad and calling him a traitor, why don't you show sympathy for a team that got one of the biggest snubs in the last 5 years, and thank him for playing a monumentous role in giving all of us our dream of having UNC in the Big Dance.

Amen, as much as we all love UNC, we still have to be realistic and know that CU and even CSU to a smaller degree is a big step up from unc, unfortunate, but thats how it is. Thanks Tad for taking us where you took us, and thank you BJ for carrying on the torch. Lets keep this going!!

"Of course you would need a salary like that to afford to live in Boulder."

Need more than that - Tad lives in Longmont/Niwot not in Boulder. Tad aside, I love it that the first time we're going to the NCAA tournament, we're the only Colorado team involved. I have to laugh at all my CU friends. Tad is the only thing I can remotely stand about the Buffs.

C'mon guys, how can yous seriously hate on Tad? He turned us around and made us into what we are today. Without him we would still be nothing. Thats like hating on Joe Glenn for leaving to Wyoming/Montana. You should be ashamed of yourself for hating on Tad.

Maybe because Joe went from a DII program to a DI-AA program to a D-I program. Also, I really hoped since Tad was a Greeley guy, that he would only leave for a proper bigtime job, not CU.

I absolutely give credit to Tad for turning this program around but he took the first job offer that comes along as if he can't wait to get out of Greeley and goes to CU before he finished the job here. Tad left without winning a single Big Sky Tournament game, let alone getting to an NCAA tournament--I call that a quitter.

Besides he went to CU which just is just shoving it in our faces that UNC is beneath him. CU gets most of the State's resources and I can't even begin to count the number of derogatory comments about UNC that I've had to put up with from CU supporters. I agree with Brian that he should have left for a proper bigtime job and if he wouldn't have been stumbling over himself to get out of Greeley, he could literally have had any job in the nation after this season. I'm talking a salary of multi-millions and his choice of any job that was open in the college world--period, not some mediocre "major conference" school.

I did thank him right when we won the Big Sky tournament. I can also laugh at him for leaving his seniors and getting screwed at CU.

We could even sing this chant to them from Tucson:

Crying on the tele,
We saw you crying on the tele,
Crying on the tele,
We saw you crying on the tele...

Okay, I am done now. :kisswink:

I am from Boulder, but went to unc, so i have love for both programs. I am thankful for Tad making both programs relavant. This was by far the most fun basketball season we have had as far back as i can remember, probably since chauncey. I am surprised people dont just have some state pride. Even if its not your team, you should still happy that the great state of colorado is doing better in b-ball, even include csu in that. I am a regular on a cu board as well and i can tell you that everyone there was rooting for unc, and were happy for the bears and our state, it comes off a little small time laughing at the buffs.

I'm born and raised in CO and I don't mind CU, I just don't normally cheer for them. I hate CSU with a passion. I don't blame Boyle for going to CU. I just didn't like the lip service he gave to UNC fans while in Greeley. He kept saying he how much he loved Greeley and it would take a big time coaching gig to get him to move. Well, CU isn't a big time college basketball program and it didn't take him long before moving on. So, he lied to us.

Well I went to the UNC vs. CU game four or five years ago and can say that it was the most unpleasant sporting event I have ever been to. The incessant shit-talking from the CU fans and the two different groups of drunken assholes who tried to start fights with me and my friends merely for wearing UNC gear speaks more loudly to me about what a great bunch of fans CU has. At one point, after the game, I was literally afraid that we were about to get our asses kicked by about 50 guys when the mob mentality kicked in. Until you mentioned this, I had forgotten about that experience, now I'm even happier CU got screwed!!!!

I can think of about 10 similar but not as extreme experiences.

Here's the thing with Boyle leaving, it's not logic for fans it's emotional. If you have a girl friend and she leaves you for a richer and better looking dude you're pissed even if you understand why.

Also, it's frustrating because the guy had one pretty good year, not a great year, a pretty good year and then he bolted at the first opportunity and called his new gig his "dream job" so of course UNC fans will be pissed. Glenn was here 10 years and won two Nat. Champ. before he bailed.

Heck, if your GF leaves you for Matt Damon and then is on Entertainment Tonight talking about how great he is in the sack you're going to be pissed. :o

He not only left us for a "dream job" he left us for CU. If he had gone out of state I think I could have been much less upset about his leaving before he brought us a championship. CU will never be on my list of teams I root for. I doubt that any CSU fans would have liked it if one of their coaches bolted out the door for a CU "dream job". He should have just taken his bag of money and gone someplace far away from us.

I'm from Denver, and attended UNC for my final two years of college. I really can't stand CU and their fan base though, so its hard for me to root for them in any sport. From my observations, CU students and almnus are the most arrogant, self-entitled individuals in the entire state. I know that its probably just couple thousand or so that portray this negative image, but it transcends beyond Colorado state lines. Case & Point: I also attended a small college in southeast Kansas to play sports my first two years in college. My classmates, teammates, and locals from the Kansas, Oklahoma, and Mizzou area's can't stand CU. Not because they have a hatred built up due to normal athletic competition among teams in the same conference, but mainly because of the reason's I stated above. They are relieved the Big 12 is intact and CU will no longer be a part of the conference.

Like the many others, I'm gonna soak up this tourney appearance for UNC even more because of the circumstances surrounding Tad, UNC and CU, as well as the resiliency that has been displayed by the UNC seniors. To me, they are the most deserving. They knew what was at stake, they took matters into their own hands, and they didn't leave the decision up to an bunch of AD's & guys in suits with miniscule college basketball intelligence. GO BEARS!!!
