The Coaching Search begins...

According to one of the articles posted above, Sac State gave Coach Hammer an offer for the OC job. Coach Hammer is waiting to see who the next WSU coach will be before he makes a decision on the offer. Anyone on this board have an educated guess on which HC hire would or wouldn’t most likely retain Hammer?

The articles also went on to state the AD is looking to have the HC selected by next week. Any ideas of who might be selected? I think all non-WSU fans can agree that Zamberlin would be the preferred choice. ;-)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Anyway, Im thinking that it's either gonna be John L Smith or Don Eck, I think Eck would probably keep Hammer at Weber, but I think JLS might clean house and hire his own assistants, but In not entirely sure.

I think Eck would be a good choice, has a working knowledge of the program and only left for a position that paid more money. He was announced as the OC but left in the spring of 2009. The players respected him, and he was a solid coach, and a persistent recruiter. During this transition, he appears to be the 'smoothest' option at this point. Just my 2 sense....

Remember how I was saying Eck made some enemies in WSU's locker room a while back. You were right, I was confusing him with Alex Gerke. I believe he was the one I heard about, not Eck.

I am kind of hoping for Eck too. He and Coach Swan had a great deal to do with recruiting my son to Weber. Regardless of who it is, I hope they hurry. My son, and a couple of other returned missionaires need to sign new LOI's and I want that to happen very soon so he can start school in Jan. and work out with the team and participate in spring ball.

Please do not respond to this post with anything that could be considered recruiting. The son is still a prospect, so recruiting contact rules still apply. I'm contacting the admin to let him know.

Glad you posted this. I wouldn't have thought discussion here could be construed as recruiting. I wouldn't mind seeing a topic here specific to FAQs for the fan on compliance. No one on this board would knowingly jeopardize an athlete or the school.

My heart goes with Coach Eck, I know the man and respect him enormously. However, my head has to think that the bigger name in Coach Smith would be a better move.
