I have washed my hands of the Bears football program and UNC athletic department as a whole. But I did say that the Bears would beat MSU by a score of 17-13 (Final score 16-13). If you dont recall my statement look back in past postings. But the truth is MSU has always struggled with UNC football we won there in 2003 and lost by 3 in 2006. Congrats BEARS!!!!!!!! 1-11 is better than 0-12. A loss to Chadron St. still makes you all the worst team in the 100+ year history of the program............. Lets hope EWU takes us light and we only lose by 20 or so................

congrats on the prediction but this board is for UNC fans. If you really washed your hands of this program like you said then maybe you should pick a different team and go on their board. Many of us our upset at the way things are now but I think the majority of us are true Bear fans and will stand by the program thick and thin.

BTW, what will you say if Chadron wins the d2 title?

I been standing by the Bears and all I have gotten is 2-9, 4-7, 1-10 and soon to be 1-11 As an alumni I will always be a fan but until the program is headed in the right direction I will not donate or have anything to do with the football program. Wins are what matter and 8 wins in 4 years wont get it done regardless who the coach is.

BTW Chadron St will not win the DII title. RMAC schools do not win the DII title a real Bear fan would know how bad the RMAC is and why a loss to Chadron St represents the end of something that was once great.

I tend to agree with what you're saying although there might be some semantic differences in how I've expressed it.

At some point as an alum, booster, supporter, etc. the only way you can effect change, if that is what you believe is the answer, is to speak with your wallet. So not attending games, not donating, does hurt the program in the short term but also sends a message that the current level of performance is not acceptable.

I think a big driver in this is the lack of communication towards the alumni. Simple things like the facility improvements or number of funded scholarships are held in secret (for what reason I would love to know). It makes it difficult to donate money when you feel like you are not given any insight to the program. Being open would drive up donations I feel. If I was the AD and we were in a budget shortfall I'd be screaming from the Gunter Hall bell tower that we needed more support. If we were only funding 60 scholarships and needed to be at 63 I'd be telling any newspaper and radio station I could get on the phone about it hoping Alumni would hear the word and send a little bit to get over that hump...

But no, we get a stonewall.

You reap what you sow... You give nothing to the alumni you get nothing back...

Your knowledge of DII and the RMAC is stuck in a different century. In the 90's when UNC was good the RMAC was not very good overall but this has changed. Chadron State is a legitimate 3rd ranked team in D2. The RMAC will probably get 2 teams in the playoffs this year, CSC and Mesa State. Chadron State the last 2 years would be a middle team in the Big Sky. So that loss to CSC isn't as big of a deal as you would like to think. The only ones who were suprised by it were uninformed people who didn't know about CSC. Anyway, good win for UNC.

I see what you're saying about not going to games and not donating but in so many ways it makes things worse. When you don't donate money it really effects the student athletes probably more then anyone. There are kids that deserve a scholarship and when we don't have the money to give them the scholarship it really hurts them. What if some kid really wanted to come here and play but we don't have a scholarship and he then goes to Montana or Montana State? I am sure it has happened. Look how many Colorado kids are on UM's roster. College sports is about the student athlete in my mind. I don't like the politics behind things like who Jay is ignoring or isn't ignoring. It just boils down to student athlete for me.

From what I have seen this year in Chadron and the BSC, I would say Chadron would challenge for the BSC title this year. This may well be the sorriest BSC season ever, Montana is severely over rated.
