Time to beat ybu in Provo..

Officiating aside I think we can get our first win in the Marriott in December. I read an article this morning in the Trib that states Matt Carlino won't be eligible until Dec 17. They don't have many other options at the point. 6'6" Zylstra ran it in Europe this summer. Martineau (probably wouldn't make SUU's Roster), and Winder is a Freshman who's may not be a true point guard. Lillard should have a field day.

This is Weber's best chance of pulling a W in Provo in over a decade. Heavens, since Harold and Eddie (I thought that was an automatic W, but Weber ended up losing. Kinda hard playing 5 on 8).

I'll be at the game for sure!!

BYU fans are going to be in for a shock. Rose knows that he is rebuilding, but the fans probably expect a rerun of last year. I wouldn't doubt it, if they started booing their own team at some point this season. Great fans!! Kinda like when Bengalhater and Catcat wore paper bags over their heads in 05-06.

How did Zylstra look running the point. The Cougars do have Davis back along with Rogers, Hartsock, Collingsworth the Elder, and their prize recruit Harrison (I'm not sure if he will redshirt or not yet, I know he is debating going on a mission; to me there shouldn't be a debate; especially if he is at BYU. Purely my opinion).

YBU will have a really hard time matching up with Weber. YBU's strength, this season, will be in their frontcourt, which isn't something Rose excels at coaching. Also, without Rice, how good will the Cougars be? I think Rose is an excellent coach, but it really helps having a coach with the experience and work ethic of Rice (now at UNLV). Also, I'm kinda interested to see how the RM's, and Newbs play. They looked pretty solid in Europe playing against national teams that have had recent international success (Greece). No matter, winning in Provo is nearly impossible. It will take a Herculaneum effort.

Even if Carlino was available, do you think it would make a huge difference? We all know that Rose is waiting for the return of Haws. He will be back next summer/fall. Maybe Rahe should start recruiting him on his mission, pull a BYU!!

Carlino is a good player, but not sure where he is in the mental part of the game. This kid has been pulled from team to team (high schools, club teams, colleges- was held back so he would be older when in high school, played for dad who was coach in AZ for high school; then committed to Indiana, and moved to attend Bloomington South for hs; ends up de-commiting and finishing hs in 3 years to go to UCLA, only to bolt in mid-season over not enough playing time as a frosh? I think he has too many family people in his ear, not sure how it will go at BYU. Time will tell....

Did you really mention Hartsuck as a force in the middle? The rest of your post may have been good but I couldnt take it seriously after you mentioned Hartsuck.

5 of 8 is 5 on 8. it doesnt matter who we bring to the game because it will be 5 on 8 and 5 on 8 is hard to win unless you are the 8 but when you are the 5 in a 5 on 8 game the 8 always wins. did i mention this game will be 5 on 8?

we will lose this game because it is 5 on 8. i would love to win this game but because it is 5 on 8 we will lose. we could have 5 dame's 5 harolds, willie and bruce and we would still lose because the extra 3 of the 8 in 5 on 8 makes it so you cant win if you are the 5 in a 5 on 8 matchup.

anyone who thinks our 0-18 record in provo is legitimate please do this - :wall:
it isnt a coincidence we have a winning record against byu at home but 0-18 in provo. since 1973 no weber teams could win in provo? ya right. :tothehand:

Sure yBu cheats. So what! They have to. They suck, just that much. I used to get upset about it. Now, I just accept them for what they are. If they need to hire their own refs to win, so be it. At least they are not as chicken poop as the yewts. They will still play home & homes. If they quit doing that, they loose all credibility with me. :coffee:

The NCAA could end the purchasing of 20 win seasons by the the, so called, power confrences. Two things would end it and level the playing field.

1) The NCAA takes over all scheduling of officials.

2) The NCAA requires all contracts between member institutions, in the same division, to be home and home, 50/50. No money games between teams in the same division.

Because it would level the playing field is exactly why the NCAA will not do it. :twocents:

Big money teams own the NCAA. The NCAA is their BIOCHE :yikes:

good point, sir. ill take a provo loss as long as they are still playing in ogden unlike utah.

If BYU goes to the Big 12, they will cease to come back to the Dee.

true, or if we ever win in provo. i dont think we have to worry about byu leaving their mid-major status. it will be interesting to see both us and byu in the mid-major top 25 that will be out within a week or so. byu has never been in a "mid-major" conference until now during the collegeinsider poll era.

In July, when Commissioner Fullerton visited Weber State he touched on both of those points during his presentation. I will try to go back and see what he said, but I believe he said that the NCAA is doing more to make the refs more accountable to the NCAA and not to particular conferences, programs, or coaches. Also, the NCAA is trying to get the bigger conference teams to actually leave their home courts during the preseason. Most of those teams sit at home for 12 out of 14 OCC games. It isn't fair. :wtf:

Yeah, from what I've been reading BYU is in discussions with the Big XII, but nothing is anywhere close to being finalized. Honestly, it would be a good move for the couggies.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOL!! Yeah, I don't see the big boys leaving their gyms.

We've won 40% of Big Sky titles because we've had better coaches, support, and players. Sac could play in a better gym, but their administration won't make the changes necessary. Humbolt State has far nicer facilities. That should be absolutely embarrassing to SAC.
