Transferring: Spencer Johnson

He announced his intention to transfer via Twitter yesterday. Weber's semester ends today. To me, it's a fairly smart move. I'm guessing he's headed DI; most likely the team we are playing tomorrow night. Just a haunch. I wish him a lot of luck and hope he has a great career; especially against Randy Rahe.

Can't say I watched him play a lot but he did play well in the two scrimmages and has a nice looking shot. He was under control and fundamentally sound. Not the quickest but wise. To me this is a loss and revels some serious issues with our basketball program. He saw the writing on the wall and decided to leave earlier than most. By the end two more will leave.

I'll argue that Randy's first team is better than his current team and that that team was definitely lacking in talent. Who cares if you have all the talent in the world if you can't develop it or if it doesn't know how to play the game. To me, once again, this is proof that Randy is killing his legacy in favor of retaining dead weight assistants.

I just saw that on Twitter this morning, too bad, not a good look for Weber. It will be interesting to see where Spencer lands, and especially to see how he does. Programs and coaches value different things and he was obviously not valued there. Hope Spencer goes on to great success wherever he ends up.

I don't like this.

It really harms our in-state recruiting to keep losing RMs. And with Johnson I think the word will be out that Weber just doesn't want them. They provide a certain maturity to the other programs around the state and I was excited a few years ago when they started popping up as Weeb signees. Crap ...

Wishing a transfering player has success against the coach of the team you "root" for is the stupidest thing i have ever heard.

Either you want your team to succeed or you dont. Stop pretending you like Rahe and then turn around and wish other players to have success against him and in turn success against Weber. It sucks that kids transfer out but thats just the way it is. Nobody knows the circumstances or details but are always too quick to make judgements. It's a very two faced thing to do.

If it works out better for the kid than that's ALL that should matter.
