Tyler Harvey

Draft Express has Harvey as the 60th pick as of June 10th.....
As I watch the NBA finals games I've often asked myself if I could imagine Tyler on the floor, I don't think so.

Those are the two top teams....try to imagine him on one of the lower tiered teams and you may be able to imagine him there.....but I agree, it is hard to see him contributing to the Warriors or Cavaliers....

Probably due to lack of defensive skills, not able to defend like Dellie or Clay Thompson.

I think the NBA finals is actually going to help Tyler. What the finals has shown is basically the NBA is moving towards a shooting league and away from the huge, slower players. Tyler can shoot the 3, he will play. Pretty sure Cleveland would love to have him shooting some 3's right now.

Dellie has a couple good games and the world falls in love. Had Kyrie not been hurt, he would play 5-8 minutes a game. Then Curry has a couple tough shooting nights and Dellie gets all the credit, yet in games 4-5 he was absolutely abused by the Warriors.

I agree 100%. I think Tyler is much more likely to thrive on a team with a James or a Curry/Thompson because of the open looks it will give him. He will most likely never be asked to carry an NBA team but rather be a complementary player that drives opposing teams crazy when he's left open due to a superstar being doubled. The NBA is a shooting "make or miss" league now which all of the GM's are acknowledging. All GM's keep saying is that they need shooters. That doesn't guarantee Harvey gets drafted but I believe there is a place for him in the league. Remember, Delli didn't get drafted either but made a roster.

NBA Draft Projections for Harvey:
Fox Sports - 29th to the Nets
USA Today - 44th to Suns
CBS Sports - 51st to Magic
NBA.com - 53rd to Cavaliers
Bleacher Report - 54th to Jazz
Draft Express - 55th to Spurs

We all know that he might not get drafted but hopefully it works out for him.

Good luck tonight Tyler!

Congrats Tyler!!! We wish you the best in Orlando! This is great for the university. We now have 2 alum that are currently in the NBA. That's big time for a Big Sky school. Tyler should eventually thrive the way the NBA game is being played now.

Tyler Harvey drafted 51st 2nd Round, by Orlando Magic. Congratulations Harvey. If I wasn't mistaking, I think we were the only little University that had someone drafted. "GREAT DAY TO BE AND EAGLE" Vic Wallace

Just watched Harvey play on NBA TV for Orlando (Blue). He looked solid. Went 2-4 from downtown for 6 points. Has three more games next week.

Harvey had another very solid game today for Orlando (blue). He went 3-5 for 6 points and 2 assists. The thing I loved about his points today is that he was going one-on-one with guys. On one possession, he drove baseline and got fouled hard but finished the play going very strong to the hoop. On another possession, he just abused a guy. He went one-on-one, drove, spun on the dude, then stepped back and hit a 15 footer while his defender fell backwards to the floor. It was pretty sick. His 3rd hoop was a typical nothing but the net jumper just inside the arc. Overall I thought he looked very solid again. Even made a couple of good hustle plays on defense. Seems to be getting about 11 minutes per game. Averaging 6 points in two games. He was +5 while one the floor today which led the team. Two more games this week!

Well, I don't know how else to say it. Harvey was absolutely dominant on offense in today's game against Indiana. They gave him more minutes and all he did was produce 24 points in 25 minutes. To add to his stat-line he also contributed 5 assists and a steal. He is shooting the ball just like he always does but continues to impress when he takes the ball to the hole. He's finishing in the paint with consistency. Tyler played two positions today, both the 1 and the 2. He scored well playing both positions. I was actually really impressed with him playing the 1. He distributed the ball well (5 assists) and showed great ball-handling. He dimed a guy cutting back-door for a dunk. The announcers had nothing but praise for his scoring ability. I'm not sure what this means in terms of his chance to make the Orlando roster, but I know it can't hurt things. He might be a couple of years away from really becoming the player that he can be and securing a year-after-year roster spot. All I know is that Orlando desperately needs shooting and he has been instant offense so far. He's hit 7 out of 13 three-point attempts for a 53.8% three-point average and scored 36 points in roughly 59 minutes. The numbers don't lie. He's made 15 of his 26 field goal attempts for 57.6%. That's incredibly efficient. Even if he doesn't make the Orlando roster, I think it just means they want to take time to develop him. Add some strength, continue to work on defense, etc. His defense isn't horrible but it is definitely the area of his game that needs the most improvement. There were some extremely important NBA exec types there today watching as well. I couldn't help but notice Larry Bird (President of Indiana Pacer Basketball Operations) sitting in the front row. Harvey is getting his name out there early. This will set him up long term. Not sure what the rest of the summer looks like for Orlando (blue). The summer league tourney they were in is wrapping up.

Way to represent EWU Tyler. I heard Greg Anthony mention EWU a couple of times. That's good exposure on the NBA network.

SirGarethThe3rd,
Outstanding Reporting. Hope he makes some team. With Larry Bird looking on, could be news. I saw where Rodney Stuckey signed a few days ago with Indiana for $21 Million for 3 years. Glad someone saw the game. Thanks! Vic Wallace

To All,
Made my trip as usual for the Summer Practice, nothing going on. While talking to two University Police Officers, a gentleman drove up in this "Fine Black Lincoln", he stated he graduated from EWSC (Savages) in the 1960s, and would like to take a trip and see how the University have improved. He started on Roos Field, then to the Locker Rooms. Don't know where he went from there, I left and got out of that heat. He was instructed to make sure Dave Cook get the information. Forgot the gentleman name, he was a Doctor for 47 years. Don't know if he lives in this area or not. Hope another EAF Member, him and his wife. Vic Wallace
