U of I provides summer funding for football why can't ISU?

They truly want to win at Kennesaw! Does ISU truly WANT to win or do they just LIKE to win? There is a huge difference.

There's no wishing or hoping to win. They want to win and they know they can win. These guys are hungry and tired of all the naysayers. They're going to let their play to the talking though.

Also, nearly the entire team is coming back in 3 weeks for Summer workout regardless of stipends. Many have already found or are currently looking for jobs. They are getting that summer workout with out without monetary support from ISU. That alone tells you their hunger to win.

If they're coming in regardless of stipends that says something about the team character, that includes the coaches.

Question: what percentage of the disparity in program finances (ISU vs.UI) does each of the big 3 take responsibility for? i.e. state board, ISU leadership, ISU coaching staff??

Seems like all three are given 100%of the blame, which isn't mathmatically possible.

....I have my fingers crossed that the new president ....since he is coming over from Boise....and he knows what Boise State ("J.C." ) has been able to do through their athletics in representing themselves to the nation .....my hope is he understands that athletics is the "front porch" of the university and the importance of a strong athletic department.....AND THAT he will really get behind ISU Athletics...... :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Players and coaches are definitely bought in and want to win. Hopefully the new president takes the Boise State approach and realizes a good well funded football program is the key for funding for the rest of the sports programs and also in increasing attendance!

Fundraising at ISU is constipated to put it bluntly.
Keep going to the same well over and over and eventually things start to run very stale if not dry up altogether. Same old, same old, year in and year out. Nothing new. No outreach to new contributors - the average ISU alum or supporter. Not necessarily the “big bucks” sponsors.
Lots of potential in the local and regional market but lots of disconnects.
When was the last time the ISU Boosters met with and coordinated ANYthing with the ISU Alumni Association?
The on again and off again Alumni Association meetings and efforts are another story.
The horse is dead but will keep getting beaten until it miraculously rises and gallops. Ain’t gonna happen.

So both basketball teams are getting stipends, but nothing for football :ohno:

I know WBB uses money that they get in part from things like the Crab Feed to help their athletes be able to stick around and go to summer school but I don't know that they get anything from the university per say.

Can you provide some details?

That was part of the reason I was told why there wasn't any money for football, that if ISU did so, they'd also have to come up with money for the female athletes, it was a Title IX issue. If that's true then the women's basketball team (at least) couldn't have been receiving anything in the first place.

I heard there are over 70 players working out in Pocatello this summer! Great turnout especially with no stipends. Not sure on wins and loses, but I think we have a group of players who are committed to getting better.
