UC Davis

Not a very good team, but UC Davis had a bye last week and should be well rested and prepared.

Reasons the Bears win
- Better all around team
- Players were embarrassed by last week's performance and will come out firing on all cylinders
- Boyer starts Newsom instead of Rubes
- Graham has a breakout game now that Robinson is gone
- Cartagena is used regularly and effectively as a change of pace back
- Stimphil and Miller have huge days
- Boyer actually includes the TEs in the game plan and takes advantage of mismatches
- Defense regains form
- DBs have 2 or 3 picks

Reasons the Bears lose
- It's a road game and the Bears haven't won on the road since 2012
- Defense has been devastated by injuries and is a shell of what it was earlier in the season
- Defense continues to give up astronomical rushing yards
- Boyer is still calling the offensive plays
- Rubes starts and struggles to hit all his passes because his shoulder still isn't right
- The offensive line is once again struggling with missed assignments and sacks are coming fast & furious
- Rubes is holding on to the ball too long and helping UC Davis compile even more sacks
- Collins is still the head coach

I think it's a toss up, but I will pick the Bears to win by 3. Go Bears!!!

Ha, a great analogy even with a little bit of sarcasm thrown in. Its actually a pretty true preview of the game. Go Bears. :notworthy:

Rubes sure hasn't seemed like himself since his injury. Is Newsom really starting though?

No idea. I did hear they were splitting the reps in practice this week, so it must be a possibility. Coaches will probably have a short leash on either one this week though.

303bear did a great job with his preview. I just have a few questions for everyone on here.

- If what I have heard at practice and at games from both the players and the fans is true. Boyer pick the players who play so why would we think Graham or Cartagena will get any more touches than the last eight weeks?

-If you were the head coach of a team that was 2-6 and going backwards would you only practice in half pads all week?

-would anyone else but Collins be arrogant enough not to step away from special teams? (5 blocked punts 1 fake FG for a touchdown against, Going for two at the wrong times in games, and poor kick coverage overall

-If Sierra doesn't play who will be the spark on defense?

- Why are we not using the receiver we got from Mexico, why did we burn a redshirt year on a player that has never played where they have him now for 1-2 plays a game?

-Why is a QB sacked eight times in the first half benched and his replacement almost killed on his first play and then sacked three or four times and not one change is made to the o-line?

-Why are we only using one sub on the o-line no matter what position we need to sub for? And if that young man is that good. Why isn't he starting?

-wouldn't everyone out there be trying every D-line,WR,LB,RB,O-line and DB combination they could think of?

-Would any of the offensive coaches still have jobs under anyone else?

Now having said all of that I hope we win out for the sake of our young men, Most of who work their asses of every day in class and on the field. And they replace Collins anyway.

They need a staff that will have the integrity to earn and keep the players trust and respect, and this staff has burned to many bridges with players to keep here.

Looks like Rubes gets the start from what I am hearing. And looks like Chap may have played his last college game last week. Down with another injury and did not make the trip to Davis.

Bears get it done today by 2 TDs.

Yawn... Who cares anymore? The Pillow Fight of the Year between two of FCS's worst teams...

The desire to keep showing the first 2 seconds of every play from field level is really annoying.

As much as I hate to say it, it's really hard to care about this game. It's on in the background, but eh.

Also Touchdown!

Got by that one by the hair of our chinny chin chin.

Rubes was a lot more like early season Rubes than post injury Rubes tonight. Good to see.

Almost let that one slip away. I had flashbacks to 2008 against Davis when we lost on a hail marry. Good win, and game ball goes to Rubes.

Congrats are in order . Great road win but it sounds like it took a couple of big defensive plays near the end of the game to keep the win ! Go Bears

It's amazing to me how well the defense is playing consider our LB unit is so decimated by injury. Did I really see Taylor Risner playing LB? That's how bad we've been hit by the injury bug. Next we should be pretty good if we good Lei back and Boobie back from their injuries.

THEN THE PARENTS OF THESE YOUNG MEN SHOULD SURE AS HELL CARE ENOUGH TO DEMAND REAL COACHES!!!!!!
