UM vs PSU - Guess the Score

32-28 PSU

Your CB's and LB's are going to give um fits. I think PSU may have the best CB's in the Big Sky. Your LB corp is damn good too. UM has almost no running game this year.

The pistol is going to give them problems too, I takes a very discipline defense to beat it and that is something that UM doesnt have this year.

Good luck vikes I honestly think you will have a good day next Saturday

Portland State 35, Montana 32.

I see a shootout, with the Vikes D coming up big in the end to preserve the win.

PSU is no push-over; the griz better beware. montana seems to struggle against physical teams that can run the ball(PSU is certainly that). UM is STILL turning the ball over at staggering rate; vikes could benefit from a few griz errors. also, UM doesn't/can't run the football, which might play right into PSU's strength(a strong secondary). PSU had the cats on the ropes in the first quarter last saturday, and it could've been a much different ball game minus two HUGE PSU fumbles. if PSU can get a quick lead like they did against MSU, could be a good day in portland.

i honestly like PSU in this game; not just blindly rooting for a UM opponent. the griz will turn the football over one too many times and the vikes strong ground game will take advantage in a classic trap game. PSU 34, UM 27

It'll be a TO contest, 2 and 2, which favors PSU. PSU wins 31-17.

i think you're being kind. the griz average 3 a game. their QB is good, but will have some stretches where he'll make some bad throws. #24 for PSU is a stud; could definitely see him baiting roper. the griz WILL turn the ball over, it's just a question of how many times. their special teams isn't all that special either. i REALLY like PSU in this one after seeing them in person yesterday. dangerous team on the rise.

I see this as a battle for the GRIZ and PSU will put up a good fight, but it will be the GRIZ in the end. :)

GRIZ 34

PSU 24

GO GRIZ !

Don't think 28-10 Montana is realistic. PSU has shown it can move the ball against Championship Subdivision teams.

In looking just at FCS statistics, I'm going to go with this:

Portland State University: 32
University of Montana: 30

Much like the Cal Poly game. Montana will be in position to win on a last drive of the game but will be intercepted:

Portland State 34 Montana 33

ehh....Griz 35..psu 24...can't stop this offense...if MSU can score 41, I guarantee Griz can score that much but add TO and they come up one short...get ready PSU ..Montana and it's fans are coming at ya full force, hope for a fun, injury free, ball game ==GO GRIZ!

MSU has a better offense than UM.

Statistics don't lie.

If the Griz could keep from turning the ball over 6+ times.....if the Griz could keep the penalties to less than 10.....if our O-Line could actually create a small crack of daylight for Reynolds.....if our head coach was still Bobby Hauck.....then YES!!! The Griz could win and all would be well in Griz Nation!

Seriously.....

How do you allow ISU to score 28 points in WGS???

Portland has a great shot at winning, but Griz Nation will be there en masse, giving our boys the motivation they so badly need and are NOT getting from their head coach.

In the end....the Grizzlies will prevail.

28-17

Hmmm. That's the first suggested criticism of Pflugrad I've seen. Give him a break. He's a new coach with a new team, for crissake!Montana's no different than any other team; it takes time. Considering how well he's done thus far, he's one a great job. Sure it's going to be a tight game. New coach against new coach, with lots of imponderables. It'll be fun.

The loss at Cal Poly was odds-on to be a last-minute win for Montana. The difference in the game was the late interception by Cal Poly dousing the fire of hope for Montana. Statistically, it was anyone's game between two well-matched teams. As it turned out, it was a home game and victory for the Mustangs. Montana, diehard support notwithstanding, retains the all-too-human capacity to lose games.

Speaking of Pflugrad....

It figures that the Oregonian would do a story on the game featuring the ex-PSU Montana coach. Interesting that he was up for the PSU job but didn't make it to the interview stage. I don't remember that; was it mentioned? What might have been......
