UNC Cubbies Thursday

Here's the thing, in the Big Sky, members aren't going to vote (push) out other conference members, because there is a fear that if one school can be pushed out, then other schools can be too. If UNCO goes today, who's to say that there won't come a time when members decide to push Weber out? UNCO is a member of our conference and will be until one of two things happen: A. They leave for another conference, which isn't going to happen or B. The Big Sky breaks apart, which could happen. No matter, in the short run, the cubbies aren't going anywhere. Bummer deal for them to deal with this situation right now. You've got to give it to Linder that he is willing to come into such a messed up situation and try to straighten things out. I think he is currently overachieving.

As for the game, first beardown, what has happened to Ibrahim Sylla and Gerard Davis? Injury or were they kicked off the team? Next, since we play primarily a man to man defense, we can expect the same thing we saw last weekend. High screen with a player curling to the basket. In other words, we will see a lot of pick and roll offense, driving, kickouts, etc etc etc. We also might see a token press employed by the cubbies and Linder switching between man and zone. Randy is predictable. Linder and Smiley both know he won't change things up. We will run our system. Everyone knows what we are going to do and they very rarely figure out how to beat it. It works and we win. Sac played their best game of the season last week against us and barely beat us. We looked terrible.

I noticed that those two didn't play last week as well.

In our first game, UNC played a little zone against us. It was not effective. Our inside game blew up the zone. Often it has been our outside shooting, but in that game Braxton and our interior passing were monster. I think we have two teams going in opposite directions for this game. I just want to see our guys settle down and clean up some of the mistakes they made on last week's road trip.

One thing UNC has going for them is that these last games are absolutely meaningless. They are really just playing for themselves, their coaches, and next year. Don't expect a lot out of any of their seniors. The coaches are probably going to be totally focused on developing players for next year's battles. From what I can see, they will be much improved next year. In fact, many teams in the BSC seem to be on the upswing with their recruiting and player development. Of course, a few defections, here or there, could change things. :coffee:

Wow!

This was on UNC's forum today. It's no wonder that they had the problems that got them to where they are. Everyone else in NCAA D1 got over this 30 years ago. They have really been isolated.

"Well at least no one stabbed anyone.

Imagine having the privilege of playing D1 basketball. But then you run into the intellectual gauntlet that is PASSING Intro to Sociology and your dream is vanquished. The NCAA needs to lower these impossible hurdles or soon there will be no eligible players at all."

Lillard is gonna to be there for the game. He said that during a interview with ksl
That's great. He should bring Joel along as well.

This should be advertised. Maybe we could get a few extra fans/students to show up. :thumb: :thumb:

Not sure what's going on with Davis but Sylla has been sidelined with chest pains and is not cleared to play.
