UNI @ EWU Game Day Thread

I’m fairly concerned with the play calling. I don’t know if it’s an experience thing or what but it’s been sort of predictable and unimaginative. This is the same offense that put 71 on Idaho.
Saw too much we've seen before and I'm not just talking about this game but the past 3+ years. The only constant is Best... That was pathetic. It's one thing to call plays that don't work, it's another to stop running your normal offense altogether when the defense isn't taking it away from you, break any rhythm, take your 6th year QB out of sync and run formations and plays in critical situations they may have practiced once. Ultimately, all Eastern really did was give UNI 5 chances in the 4th quarter to win the game and make the offense question if they were trusted or not.

Too pissed off for words. I've seen stupid and this set a new bar.

If I had to rate the first half, would have given the playcalling a solid B except for the tight formations in critical downs, the rest was workable and could be built upon. Execution was a C- and it was mostly EB3 being inaccurate and some late drops and the kicking game.

The second half offense was a sewer.... play calling sucked, WR's couldn't catch, OL didn't open any hole 5 three and outs and a single very lucky TD run. Don't believe me?

AAAARG!!

The D bailed us this game for sure!! To hold them out of the end zone inside the 5 yd line 2x is VERY impressive. They had 1 really good and 1 pretty good receivers which our D-backs made awesome plays on.
As a whole the Eagles outplayed the Panthers by a mile. Proud to be an Eagle fan today!!!
But...
What has happened to our offense? A middling MVFC team put up more yards than us with more passing yards than we had! I know they are one of the top defenses in all of FCS but 19 points and just over 400 yds seems pretty mediocre. Late in the game it seemed EB3 was walking a little odd on his rt leg, like maybe cramps, whatever it was this wasn't his shining moment.

I’ve been telling myself that we went Vanilla in this game to hide what we’re preparing for Montana. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

You can add mind reader to your moniker. I told myself the exact same thing too. Sweet lies.

As a whole the Eagles outplayed the Panthers by a mile Got that right. D was off the hook yesterday, guessing the DL is sore after battling that big OL. Couldn't be happier with their performance. Never let down and did a great job once the running QB came in too. Know you weren't listening to the broadcast but one of the announcers was completely befuddled when Eastern went into zone and said they were much better in man. They also noted that Eastern was manhandling an MVC team that they thought was very physical. Did not notice EB3 with a hitch in this giddy up. Hope it is nothing serious.

Many mentioned what the heck was our offense doing? Weird ass plays looked like a diff team to me. And then the light came on...they were showing Montana something they haven't seen before in preperation for next Friday...absolutely BRILLIANT!!! Our new OC is a sly one..huge upside...BRILLIANT!!

Best has mentioned run/pass balance a number of times:
Why so many more runs than pass especially when we only avg 2.9 per run.
NIU beat us at our own game -passing- more attempts, more yards, better average.

Barriere was limping pretty good coming off the field yesterday. I think he got rolled up on on that weird 4th down option that got cut down inches from the line. After the play he took a roll and hobbled off the field. Not sure if that was on TV or not, but it was quite evident live that he was uncomfortable. That doesn't explain all the bad play on offense, but as to whether he took a ding, then yes. He did.

It was an odd game where both teams just buckled down in the red zone on defense. Both teams had decent success moving the ball until they got deep. The only TD they scored was a missed coverage by Criner, and we scored on a ball that slipped through double coverage and a broken play scamper by Barriere. None of the 3 TDs were executed well by the offense, just missed opportunities by both Ds.

Because it's playoffs, they don't show reviews in the stadium. Was Boston out of play on that one TD catch? The ref clearly threw the marker, but I didn't see if he actually stepped out of bounds on his own? I assume he did because it didn't seem like the refs checked it at all.
