UNI @ EWU Game Day Thread

Quick summation:

W T F

Some very good play confused with milquetoast calls late.... I don't get it. No one is getting fired for going balls to the wall here. McCann just missed with running a play late that Eag's haven't run all season, it's confusing and poorly executed... Now if the TE had snuck up the field after a quick block and Merritt had thrown it to them wide open... If there was a lead blocker once in a while some of these runs would potentially be bigger... Feel like he's setting things up for later, but when you're in the redzone you pull out the best you have. it's like there's no difference between what you do between the 20's and what you do in the redzone...

this is seriously starting to piss me off. this just seems like fundamental football... maybe there is no such thing.

Defense was playing well but Eag's got Ena'd at the end of the half... Guy has his head up his ass.
 
I think we've had a couple of trips to the red zone that netted zero points. We have to do a much better job of executing in the short field. I think if we figure that out we'll win this game.

And stick to what's been working defensively...that prevent D at the end of the half sucked. No reason for it.

By the eye test, we're definitely a better team. We haven't executed well on offense...not terrible, we just haven't made the plays when they've counted.

Agree, the offense seems to be a lot more "risk" averse than it used to be. As someone noted, could be the rain. But it's crazy the amount of yards generated for just 9 points. Our bread and butter has always been the passing offense, and the running game has been good. Just seems passing plays were better for some of those situations, including that 4th down. We have the best receivers in the FCS.

I swear, Prevent never prevents anything.
 
No idea what to think. The offense is a little off maybe or there’s some things we usually generate that haven’t materialized. Judging by some of the errant passes and dropped balls I think the rain effected the passing game in that half. Hopefully it clears up.
 
Eag's score 28 points in the second half... D worked hard to shut down the run and make them one dimensional and then didn't know what to do with it.. Was there even a single blitz in that UNI scoring drive? I do not recall. My son was like, "why are they dropping 12 yards deep and letting them catch 10 yard passes"... I was like "because we can"

scary kicking situation doesn't help with the anxiety... I think Eastern still wins this game, it should be a lot easier
 
Can't run formations that the team isn't familiar with on key downs... it's a poor idea IMO... not sure why Roberson didn't sell out to catch that pass... so three trips down there no points and it isn't the defense stopping Eastern..
 
Man...this is frustrating. UNI has one of the best kickers in the FCS...and is still in position to win by a FG. That's 3 red zone trips with zero points this game.
