UW Dawg Pound Prediction

Thanks for posting that, norcal - I probably would have missed it since I haven't checked that site since I was directed to the other UW forum. It's a good writeup and he's obviously been reading up about us over here, but his score prediction is laughable. I'd bet $ that we don't lose by more than 21. 7-14 points sounds about right.

You can just never tell what's going to happen with these type of games. We've played a bunch of BCS teams really tough and then we've been blown out a few times as well. I think I'm going to reserve judgement on this one, but I don't think we get beat by 35 or whatever it was - even though it's possible.

At the end of the day it's going to take some Senior leadership to step up and say "look, we can play with these guys".....and then go out there and prove it.

Pac-10 or not, this is still college football and anything can happen. It's not like we're going to Seattle to play the Seahawks.

My pleasure! In my opinion, this is a mental game more than anything else. These young men are the same age with very similar speed and skill sets. EW needs to show up physically conditioned for a strong 4th quarter push, force turnovers, fly to the ball and stay fundamentally disciplined. Maturity and determination very well break Washington down mentally. The second half is critical. Washington needs to see an unwaivering determination; a willingness to finish every play going 100%. This works especially in the 4th quarter when some players slow down a step or two. Find the wounded animal and make him pay for his lack of will. These things change momentum and determine outcomes.

There WILL be turnovers in this game. I think UW will come in a little more disciplined and hungry. There is no way they will let EWU beat them and they will be ready. However; I can smell an upset, if our boy's are more physical late in the fourth quarter.

Well said, and I agree completely. Attitude and approach are a huge part of performance on the field, if not everything.

To All,
I just got up for a little Eagle news. I hope that UW under estimate our team, they are going to be in for a big surprise. I will not speculate any scores, however, I've seen how hard this team have been working, our players will come out prepared, unless they have a Brain Lapse, let us hope it is UW Players that comes with a "Big Brain Lapse" :thumb:

Off The Subject:

Take a trip out to campus, there are some new additions on the Front/Rear of "Roos Pres Box". On the front
lower portion under Eastern Washington University, "2010 National Champions" :thumb: on the rear also, 2010 National (Eagle Helmet) Champions" :thumb:   . Completed in some type of metal. The work on the rear was donated by one of our players family business. I don't know if they want their name out, I would leave that for someone else. I would like to be one that "THANK" this family and all others that have helped our University and it programs.   Now back to the sack. ;) Vic

uw has never played an FCS team so I think it is sort of natural for a fanbase that is somewhat unfamiliar with our Division to predict a massive blowout. This was a good read but of course I dont agree with his predicition. I am guessing it might be something more like a two td win for Washington, although i also think we have the talent to pull the upset! Go Eags!

The big key to UW will be to not get run out early like we did against Nevada. With the extra schollie players, UW has the natural late-game advantage... so we need to come out and execute early to give ourselves a shot.

We do have a shot in this game, but we won't win if we give up garbage TDs early like we did in last year's opener.

I actually think that Eastenr being relatively close to UW will keep them a little more focused on this game since they know a little about us and there are some people thinking EWU will hang with them. Had this been vs. Central Arkansas or something like that, there might be a lot more chance they'd come out with no motivation.

Here's what Vic is talking about... looks awesome.

Regarding the game, I just ran the matchup through National Sports Ranking's simulator, and the results are pretty much exactly how I expected them to turn out.

Washington(2011) wins 83 of 100 matchups against Eastern Wash.(2011)

Projected Score: Washington 31 Eastern Wash. 21

Margin of Victory: 10 Points

Looks awesome! It'd be even sweeter if the helmet was colored in, but looks good nonetheless.

Any other pictures of this anywhere?

The additions to the press box look great, but seeing only two jerseys (Picard, Roos) on it makes me wonder if we might see more added from this class of Eagles. Who is next? Renard, BLM, Kaufman, TJ?

Is it a different one from this? I think this is the same one you posted.

Nope, same one.

The banners don't have actual jerseys on them, but they are there to signify retired numbers. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Taiwan's 22 up there soon, especially if he has some success in the NFL early. On the right side, the furthest to the right indicates years for playoff appearances, and the one that is closer indicates big sky championships. Go Eags!

norclewfan,
I just found the article from UW Blog. Great reading, our players here at EWU will represent the University, themselves, and Eagle Fans very well. I don't think it will be that big a score, don't be surprise should we defeat the Dawgs. ;) :thumb: We are having much rain here in Spokane, and floods in parts of the State. Go Eagles!!!!!.

BTW my condolences goes out to SAC State, and the family of Terrance Brooks, Director, Strength and Conditioning Coach, who passed away a few days ago. I found the information on Big Sky Blog. No information of that caused his death. What I have read, he was very much liked by everyone that he came in contact with. There are two things in life we all will do, "PAY TAXES AND DIE", to bad we must do either. Even after you have passed, your family will still have to pay what taxes, etc, we owes. Have a nice day. Vic Wallace
