Great. This will help people to get to know Portland State more on a national basis. Arkansas is a great team and this will be another good way to gauge how good the Portland State team has become.

Super excited to see PSU play an SEC team. I hope I am able to go to that game in 2019. Is this the only $ game announced for 2019 so far? I see 2017 is BYU, OSU. 2018, Nev, UO.

...and I say that because, it seems to me, "national exposure" has become "why does this school/conference schedule these cupcakes?" Boise's national exposure tends to exist only when they're playing a big school, for instance. Not that it isn't good for players to get out and have a shot against the big boys. Just that, at some point, someone has to figure out how to get sustained LOCAL exposure. BTW, complaining about being shut out by Pac-12 schools or the O or the legislature seems to be perpetually not working...

The only way this football program gets noticed, in my estimation, in this town, right now, is 3-4 years of sustained threats from impactful sources to close it down. (And so this is where I demand we close it down, and it's possible that it could paradoxically be saved this way, but you run the risk of having it be taken seriously.)

When a franchise or a program is on the outs (best recent example: Lumberjax), the most media they get is when they either threaten to fold or actually fold. I've seen that repeatedly, in any market, and who knows why. I don't even begin to understand that.
(Of course, it's inconsistent. The AFL Thunder/Steel didn't even get the benefit of THAT exposure)
Two years ago, PSU got 15 minutes of fame for beating Washington State and, the moment that didn't sustain, whoosh. Isn't it frustrating?
So that was my Swiftian moment (Jonathan, not Taylor). Propose to close the program in order to get more exposure. Part of the problem is it has a chance of working.

I have not heard, nor have I found, anything that could be considered a reliable source that has demanded the end of PSU football. I have seen posts from anonymous people saying this, but I would have a hard time saying they are credible. Sorry, but not everyone listens to the Timbers Army when it comes to the Portland sports scene, and not everyone should accept their word as gospel. They have run off an entity that had almost 100 years of history in Portland (baseball). Now they want to run off a program with 70 years of sustained play in college football in Portland. Thank God it is just the fans spewing this garbage and not the management.

Several years ago I read that Mr. Paulson wanted to install natural grass turf at Providence Park in order to host World Cup play. In that article PSU was mentioned as the loser if that came to pass.
