I have to ask, who are the "sustained threats from impactful sources"? Not even your fearless Timbers leader, Merritt Paulson, has ever advocated the demise of PSU football. The only "threats" I've seen have come from rabid Timbers fans (like yourself) who seem to feel entitled to be the only party in town.
It seems odd to come in to a football fans forum and demand it be shut down. But I guess, Keep Portland Weird.![]()

When a franchise or a program is on the outs (best recent example: Lumberjax), the most media they get is when they either threaten to fold or actually fold. I've seen that repeatedly, in any market, and who knows why. I don't even begin to understand that.
(Of course, it's inconsistent. The AFL Thunder/Steel didn't even get the benefit of THAT exposure)
Two years ago, PSU got 15 minutes of fame for beating Washington State and, the moment that didn't sustain, whoosh. Isn't it frustrating?
So that was my Swiftian moment (Jonathan, not Taylor). Propose to close the program in order to get more exposure. Part of the problem is it has a chance of working.

Sacramento is bigger than Portland, but I hear what your saying. I'd rather be here than in Sac-Town (or Flag-Town, or Whoville, or Bozo-Land, or Mazzola, or Pokey-Telo, or Pepto Obispo, or Mosco B Coltraine).

Portland, not Sacramento, is biggest city in Big Sky...Portland, 6399,863 to Sacramento 493,712. Portland metro area edges Sacramento 2.42 million to 2.41 million.
