Visits [Aug 2011]

Utah State has also offered Hill. He'll be visiting Logan on 9/23. Should be an interesting recruiting battle. Rahe is stepping it up. Good to see.

Stew might have to schedule another player cause Kyndahl will be committing to Weber after this weekend. :stir: :stir:

LOOOOOOOL...I kid. But seriously, he is gonna be a Cat. :thumb:

I'll be up there this afternoon to watch him play. Bolomboy is 6' 8.5'' and still growing. Hill is penciled in as the replacement for KB on the wing. He plays a lot like Loveridge, he's just a little bit bigger.

According to a post on the Montana State board, you're trying to set up a visit with Lucas O'Brien, a 6'10" post from Arizona.

Wasn't Utah State also looking at O'Brien at one time? Did Stacy Davis visit USU?

Any Kyndahl Hill info? He visited last weekened, but we haven't heard anything since.

he still has official visits to:
Pepperdine 9/16
Usu 9/23
Utep 9/30
unlike Bolomboy I think he'll be visiting all.

I don't know if we can get him. I read somewhere before the summer circuit started he was hoping to get more offers. We had already offered..

After watching Hill play, I'm not real sure that we want him anyway. He appears to be very athletic and long. However, his skill set needs a lot of work. He is more athletic than BF but not as skilled. If we got him, it might be a few years before he could help us. Unless he has a strong desire to be a Wildcat, I say we should keep looking. :ugeek:

Haven't heard about Davis visiting USU, but he has planned visits to Pepperdine, Fresno St, St Mary's, and Eastern Washington.

Stacey looks like a really good prospect. I don't know how athletic he is, but he seems to be quite skilled. With his skill set, there must be some reason that bigger programs are not after him. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with him.

Just yesterday we got a commit from a 6'8" PF from Yuba JC, Sean Harris, so I don't know if we're still interested in Hill. Things change real fast this time of year. If his 9/23 visit to Logan is cancelled, then it'll be clear. It doesn't look like we have any interest in Stacy Davis any longer as we didn't make his visit list. As for O'Brien, we looked at him during the AAU season, but didn't offer. I'm pretty sure we were looking for only one more post player to sign, and Harris takes care of that.

I'm glad that you were the first to say this. I didn't want to comment, but I will support you oldrunner. Hill had some good upsides. He has a nice outside shot that is fairly consistent and he moves on the offensive side fairly well, but on defense he struggled. He wasn't able to guard Berry at all, granted, Berry has a lot of speed (he looked solid), and in the Sky, Hill will have to be ready and able to guard guys of all types. Next he didn't hussle. That was a huge question mark to me. I know that Utah has him, but when I watch Loveridge he was all over the floor. Honestly, I would say that Hill and Love have that same amount of talent, except Love has focused more on developing his skill set. Now, not to say Hill won't be able to, I think he has a hell of a lot of potential and could become a very solid/good player. He has been focusing a lot on football in the past and just recently decided to focus solely on basketball. Now that he is solely focusing on basketball, I have a feeling that he will be able to hone his talent more thoroughly. Automatically, to me he needs to improve his speed, work on the intangibles hussle/toughness, and play hard the entire time on the floor. No breaks. Who knows what will happen. If Hill decides to come to Weber then he will be a good get. BF has developed and continues to develop into being All-Big Sky talent. I'm sure that Hill can too. Also, Hill is a strong kid, who looks to be in top shape.

Yeah, I saw that Harris committed to USU yesterday. Solid pickup by Stew and Co. Hill isn't really a PF though, he is a solid SF. He probably could play PF if the team needed him to. But at USU there really isn't a lot of space for another SF. So, you are probably right about Hill. As for Stacy Davis...I think he has a hell of a lot of upside. He is someone who will bring the intangibles toughness and hussle to the court. But, the coaches know a lot more than me, so I will trust their judgement. Besides, at this point Weber needs someone who can play either the 3 or 4. Someone who can stretch the defense and hit shots from outside. Davis is a hell of a good player in the blocks, but doesn't have much of an outside game. Lucas O'Brien might not be the answer to our dilemma, unless the coaches feel that Bolomboy can be that guy who will stretch the defense. We know that he can guard anyone and that he is a defensive beast. So...he does have a nice 15ft jump shot too. To bad shavon Sheilds didn't decide to come to Weber. He along with Bolomboy would have fit nice together. Oh well, I dont' blame him for wanting to stay close to home and wanting to play in the Big 10.

Shields would have been great, his Dad was a gridiron star for the Huskers, so it was amazing to me that we even got a visit.

one thing to remember about Hill, he has loads of potential, and focusing on basketball for another year will help. You just don't find athletic 6'7" guys who can play the wing, and hit the 3 every day.

Loveridge had an amazing AAU run, and as their best player that should have garnered him more attention, but he is considered tapped out by some. I would say Hill may have more upside than Loveridge even. :twocents:

Tyler Ott will be visiting this month. He's also visiting UC Davis, SUU, and Pepperdine.

Ott signed with UC Davis:

Huh? Why? I understand that that is an excellent academic institution, but he is leaving on a mission next year. Are they assuring him that he will have a scholie as a red-shirt fresh? But will he when he gets back? No matter, I wish Ott the best. Good luck to him.
