Wazzu Game Thread

So close - again.

Positives, the D PLAYED HARD and held them scoreless in the second half. Our defense is damn good this season.

We gotta get our timing down a little bit and cut down on the TO's...

Really hope Herd is ok. That was a total cheap shot.

Absolutely worst play ever by the Cougs taking out Herd! Shows how second rate those guys are!!
I am proud of our guys! Great job!!
4 point loss is nothing to be ashamed of especially with all the penalties and turnovers.
Hope Herd is ok not only for our game next week but in general.

GO EAGS

No, but we should've won. Still disappointed. Glad we have a bye to process and get better. -2 againt the cougs and -3 against UW, and we lost both by a combined 7 points. :ohno:

Yah I know we should have won but we played horrible in the first half and brought nothing to the table in the 3rd. By no means do I think the better team won. I chalk this up to home field advantage!

Bummer! These were two evenly matched teams. I want to say our offense was sloppy but once again we outgain a Pac-12 foe by over a 100 yards by piling up 454 yards ( ain't bad ). Really impressed with the defense and the DL, much improved from last years version. I think we were one interception and missed extra point from taking this one....

Padron does just enough right that you can't justify benching him. But man, does he hurt us with bad throws and bad decisions. He can't do anything against cover 2 and panics when blitzed. He doesn't stay in the pokcet and gets happy feet whenever pressure comes. The two turnovers were terrible, one just a bad throw when panicked and the other just a case of not understanding the situation and letting time expire before halftime. Nic Edwards was all out of sorts today; Herd appeared better until the ugly cheapshot; Kaufman looked like a legit NFL guy bailing us out all over the field (again).

Leach made a huge error with a minute and a half left and EWU had no timeouts and he throws for it on 3rd and 15... inexcusable. Had Eastern scored and won, that would have been the call that cost them the game.

Not sure what to make of the extra point adventure. Both were decently blocked at the line and just got kicked right at the DL.

Another good defensive performance. Lots of tackles at first contact. Great play by DEs. TJ Lee shut down one of the best receivers in the Pac12.

really tough one to swallow but we didnt do enough in the first half to take this one. Agree that kp needs some more time I am happy we have two weeks to get ready for the next game. I would also like to see Adams at some point but dont necessarily think he is our #1 either. remember kp is very new to the system and I cant remember where blm was at this point but I dont think he was stellar early on either. really great perfomance by the D, they are legit.

BLM also struggled early, throwing a pick 6 against both CWU and UM, games 2 and 3.

Yes, BLM was extremely frustrating in his first 3 or so games. Multiple int's, some for 6. Have faith in Baldwin and his QB grooming ability. KP WILL be a top 3 QB in the nation. And once again BK shit on PAC 12 secondaries. TO's cost us the game, but no need to fret.

I'm real proud of these boys. Played their hearts out.

They played a hell of a game, facing a ton of adversity. I hope they don't get too down, and use that extra week to stoke the fire for Weber and come out swinging.

Still really like what we've done with rushing the football and defensively. We have the makings of a championship caliber team, and the passing game will mature and get better.

We've got a little breathing room with the Idaho win and the bye week really comes at a good time. In fact, Weber will now be far less of a trap game with these guys being that much more hungry for the next win.

Padron's performance so far reminds me of BLM's first year. Against Nevada he could not hit anyone beyond 20 yds and we just barely beat Central... you know how the 2010 season ended.
We'll get there, it is just frustrating losing games like this.
WSU coaches should be looking in the mirror and asking what the hell happened. Baldwin and company put it on them today!
Again our D was outstanding!

That Montana game with BLM was painful. Thankfully we had T. Jones.
Padron started clicking in the fourth and it gave me hope. Like you said we have a week and I feel real sorry for Weber!

I was thinking about that earlier this week. Last year's loss to UW completely deflated the team, and we didn't have time for a let down with USD gunning for us. We've got a week to put the emotions in check, for Padron to become more entrenched in the offense (and heal that ankle or whatever), and come out firing against Weber. This bye actually comes at a great time for us.

Yeah, that's the other take away from this one, and it's really no surprise. Padron came into his own and it started looking like our passing attack when the urgency increased. Same with BLM. Up tempo!!!
