We suck!!!!!!!!!!!!

BEAR 2003

Not to harp on what we already know but I watched the entire game on TV(despite the fact that there were some good games on at the same time) and man we suck!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was my first chance to watch since the NAU game in 06 and we have made 0 improvements. The sad part is we do have some talented players but we suck at QB and WR, any body seen Andy Birkel? If NAU was not so bad of a team they would have killed us. We will not win a game this year. We cant keep our shoes on first of all (anybody who watched the game knows what i am talking about), second of all we are not very tough (every 3 or 4 plays one of our guys was on the ground hurt), third we cant come up with a scheme on defense to stop anybody. We need changes top to bottom and we need them now!!!!! Downing has had his chance, him and his staff need pink slips, NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taking shots about the shoes and injuries is off base, Bears2003. That turf is awful, both teams had injuries accordingly and lost shoes. There was plenty of damage to other things, as well--helmets, unis, etc.

I saw more Bears lose their shoes and more Bears get injured than the Lumberjacks. I wasnt taking shots I was telling the truth about toughness and really what game on turf have you ever seen one team lose that many shoes? bearsradio I am not blaming the lack of wins for my once proud program on lossing shoes on turf but the real problems are obvious, COACHING, TALENT, SUPPORT dont need any further disscusion. 0-11 tell Downing and the "Bad News Bears" to prove me wrong. I would like to go at least 1-10 or do they not mind going down as the worst football team the university has ever produced? 1-10 would atleast make them tied with that terrible team from 06. Tell Downing to stop saying they played hard every week and just say they suck maybe that would wake the team and his coaches up!!!!!!!!! UNC football Glory Days 1890's thru 2003 everything else has been....... well you have been there Mr. Coverdale(sorry if spelled wrong)

Chris and I had an ongoing conversation about the number of shoes lost by players on both teams, because it was a comical matter. Injuries were suffered by both teams--one stretch saw four different guys down, 2 for each team, within about six plays. NAU's stud wideout, Alex Watson, disappeared after an apparent first half injury, not to return.

I'm not going to touch the heart, talent, support matters, because you have preconceived notions about what you're seeing. I'm understand being a fan, but I just pointing out that you made two claims that don't aren't necessarily factual.

And, yes, you spelled it right.

Nothing I am commenting on is "preconceived". Trust me!! the program is what it is right now and it reflects lack of leadership from the Athletic Director as it has been since he took over(But Downing still has to go). You are treating me like I am some guy from the 80's or something. If you put it all together you would know who I am. Let me see if this hint helps you, "I am so glad we dont have to go back to Portland for another butt kickin', after 2 years we can finally let the Vikings kick our butts in front of our home fans.....LOL
Have a good one Troy!!!

I see it the complete opposite way. We played a decent game against a good NAU team. Bear 2003 obviously doesn't pay any attention to the Big Sky, or he'd know that the Lumberjacks are near the top of the league. I'd have NAU at either nmber 2 or 3 in the Big Sky right now, depending on if EWU turns out to be for real.
The NAU game actually gave me some hope. On offense, we played well, but missed some opportunities. Vlahogeorge threw for nearly 200 yards and would have been over that mark had Breazeale not come in. Our defense contained NAU's high octane offense. Remember that one of their TDs was on a fake field goal and another was set up with a big gain on a quick snap play. This game was very close to being a 23-21 affair. If we can play that well against some of our weaker Big Sky opponents (ISU, Weber, Sac St.), we can pull some wins out.
Also, I agree with Troy that the injuries and lost shoes were due to the terrible surface at the Walkup Skydome.

gobears2010 you gave me a good laugh just now!!!! How bout this for paying attention to the Big Sky last year ISU only won 1 conference game, yes that was against UNC and if I remember correctly they won like 41-0 and last year Webber St and Sac St were both supposed to be games the Bears could win and they almost did on both occasions but almost isnt good enough(the more talented team won each time) in the Big Sky as evidenced by the NAU game this year. EWU whipped our butts good on homecomming last year it was 34-0 at halftime. What Big Sky are you talking about? If there is a team in the Big Sky we the best chance to beat its MSU the Bears are 1 and 1 in there last two meetings and only lost 13-10 last season. You just convinced me that the Bears will win one game this year BEARS 17 MSU 13 mark it down and remember that you heard it here first!!!!!!!! Good Luck wit college little buddy?

If you pay attention to the conference, then what happened last week around the league?? From what I saw, Weber, ISU, and Sac St. aren't any better or worse than the Bears, and we could beat any or all of them. I never said we had a great or even a good team, but I think the game against a very good NAU team was a step in the right direction. We held their All-American WR, Alex Watson, to 2 catches for 18 yards. You are right on one thing, I am a student, which means I'm around the team more than you and can ge a sense of where they are mentally and physically. Right now, I think 4-8 is the absolute best case scenario and 0-12 still isn't out of the question, but last week's game is by far the best we've played this season.

Trust me little buddy 4-8 is a stretch! But I am glad to hear that you are not one of those fair wheather fan students at UNC. I appreciate the support that you give the our beloved Bears. But remember the games are played on the field and nobody gets any wins for an inspiring effort in a loss. Keep supporting the Bears no matter how bad things end up this year!!! BEARS FCS National Chapionions in 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 4-8 is a stretch, but I count best case as winning any game where we even have a chance at all. I think we have 4 of those, ISU, Weber, Sac St, and Montana St. I agree that all of the fair weather students are a disappointment, but I won't give up. Bear Down!

So this football team is SO BAD that a 3 touchdown loss is progress? I am a student, and I have to say watching this football team was embarrassing. Call me crazy gobears2010, but I dont think that giving up 34 points to anyone means you contained them. This team plays with NO HEART, and Scott Downing has proven that he cannot coach. If we were 0-4 with a bunch of one td losses that would be another story. But were not. We are an 0-4 team who hasnt played anyone to within 3 TDS. So please, if you believe that a 3 touchdown loss to maybe the 3rd best team in the Big Sky is progress do us all a favor and stay off the board. We as fans need to expect more than that.

So, let me get this straight, a 20 point loss to a upper half Big Sky team isn't better than a 36 point loss to a non scholarship team or a 31 point loss to a D2 team? I never said we were good, but simply that it was a step in the right direction. We have a long way to go, but at least we seem to be taking steps forward and not going backwards anymore.

I like the spirit, but we are really stretching here for a positive outlook if we try to characterize a 3 TD loss as a step in the right direction. Unfortunately the original post was right. We are the laughing stock of the Big Sky and FCS football. This team is terrible. Save for a miracle we are looking at 0-12. I hope, hope, hope I am wrong on all of this. Nothing would make me happier.

If I am not wrong though this is a critical offseason for the Bears. Is the admin (meaning Norton) going to do the necessary things to right the ship? Or will the problem be ignored to save money again?

It is what it is but I have to admit, I was a little disappointed in Downing when he stated in the paper that the players are still getting used to the staff. Used to the staff? They've been around since spring ball, and two a days, and summer workouts, and every afternoon, and every night meeting. Scott...I'm trying to remain optimistic but you will need to come up with better excuses than that!

OK, We are 0-4, but it seems to me that we are 0-4 to teams that have a combined record of 12-2 where the 2 losses were to a Pac 10 BCS team and the other was to the #1 FCS team. I watched the Northern Arizona game and I didn't feel that we got blown out. With a couple of plays going our way it could have been a very close game. I didn't see our players give up like some of you seem to have seen nor did I see poor play selection called like some of you that are down on the coaches seem to have seen. What I did see was a young team that made some mistakes that turned into points for the other team. These mistakes will be taken care of as the season progresses and the team matures. Most teams have a large number of Seniors and we are playing a large number of Freshmen and Sophomores so it might take a few games to get them to the point where we would like to be, but they will get there.

Have some faith and Go Bears.

budbear, this is earth calling!!! please rejoin us!!!! What you saw was a team that sucks and is poorly coached. Not sure how else to put it but you need a reality check. Its okay though we are all disappointed fans who want a change. You seem to be fostering the idea that team will win a game or better yet will come close to winning a game. I will let you know that I am on record stating that the Bears will beat MSU 17-13 but its more of a winning the lottery type dream.

I think it's important to note that everyone on this board and everyone associated with the program, including the coach, AD and even KFKA want the football team to succeed and are working hard to do so.

I think it fine and sometimes important to want change, but we need to remember that we are all supporters in one way or another and to treat each other accordingly.

I would like to thank you for this comment Brian. I would like to apologize if my words do not reflect Brian's quote or if any one feels like I have treated them inappropriately.

Bear 2003, you're fine. I personally think that everyone needs to loosen up a little bit. No one is happy that the Bears are suffering right now, and the frustration comes out in these emails. If we can't laugh at ourselves (everyone else is), then who can we laugh at? I'm with several others on the board. We aren't going to suck forever so I'm willing to kick back, drink my share of cold beers....and party like I'm 16 again, when the Bears finally pull a couple of wins out. And yes...they will!

I think it is OK to call a spade a spade, if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck it must be a duck, insert some other overused saying here. :D Personally I am glad that there are still people out there that feel strongly about the bears. For or against the current staff / administration as long as the board doesn't turn silent I am happy - I know there are still fans out there that care. I think that is what the board should be about. Fans coming together to discuss what is happening and to get some different viewpoints. Oh yeah Ursa - to also find fellow beer aficianodos.
