Web site redesign

Our teams took a big step forward last season, so we decided the Web site should follow suit. Take a look and let me know what you think. See something you don't like? Let me know that, too, and I'll take it into account as we move forward.

Enjoy, and thanks for your support, everyone.

i really like the look of the new website but it seems like a lot of the content never updates - for instance staff bios are really old and outdated, some are probably 3-5 years old.

I think it looks great but I don't see the facilities page Heather said she was working on in February (during signing day live coverage).

Thanks for the feedback. To which bios are you referring? Our coaches bios are mostly written in a way so they don't necessarily need updating. Our aim is to update student-athlete bios every offseason.

And, I'm not sure the status of the facilities page. With a full-time staff of two for 19 sport programs, prioritization is key. That might have been pushed to the backburner ...

Looks nice, I like the background of nottingham and the dynamic banner at the bottom.

Three things though:
1) Having rectangular photos for the top stories results in some weird cropping. (For and example look at the pic associated with the spring game on the football page, the large photo is a shot of Collins' forehead...)

2) Having both the team pages and the schedules under the 'Sports' tap is a little much. I think it would look cleaner just to have the sports, people know that they can get a schedule by going to the sport's page.

3) The 'Logos' link on the 'Traditions' page is broken, as is the link to the 'Sugar Bears' off the 'Spirit Groups' page.

The rectangular photos actually allows us to use larger images within the stories (always a good thing) and allows our site to be shorter from top to bottom, one of our main goals in the redesign. That particular photo of Coach Collins hadn't been updated to the new site dimensions.

This was actually another goal of ours and was in line with a lot of requests we had to go that direction. We've found that schedules are the most visited part of our site, so we wanted our fans to be able to access those as quickly as possible.

I'll work on it. Thanks for the heads up.

I like the new site but saw nothing on our facilities. Is it hiding in there somewhere?? I really like the new direction the entire athletic department is taking, new website, new announcer at Nottingham, etc.

I have trouble with the small font used to describe the content on the front page with the Top Stories. The headlines are OK, but the small type underneath is too small to read easily. The scrolling banner does not need to be so large and like everyone else I agree they need a facilities link. Is it possible to put a link to this board site on as well for those who don't know about it?

It's great that people are taking the time and effort to make the UNC web site informative and classy. Keep up the good work.

Also it would be nice to have some links to places where you can pick up some Bears gear, esp. for those of us who live out of state.
