We will have our hands full but I wouldn’t put anything past Jay Hill. No one gave us much of a chance 2 years ago at JMU either.

With this team anything is possible. Regardless its been another fun season to witness.

Believe it or not Wildcat nation, Weber is one game away from playing for a national championship! I used to only dream about these scenarios when I started follwing Weber football over 20 years ago. Never believed we would ever be where we are today. Thank you Coach Hill for what you have done for our program!

Congrats Weber Fans and team for your success. Excited to have you guys back in Harrisonburg. Hope some of you can make the trip. I plan to be out there for our regular season match up in the future. Looks like we will have a defensive battle on our hands

Welcome back to the board Knit35.

Glad to still get a chance to watch our boys play. Im hoping the team isnt emotionally drained after that win on Friday and can give you guys a game. I think Hill will have his boys ready. Should be a good game.

Our offense will need to make some plays as well. They have kinda been MIA in the playoffs so far. Need them to step up big time

I'll second that! Thank You to all responsible for an exciting ride this season of Wildcat Football !
Win or lose on Sat., I feel all of Wildcat Nation can be proud & appreciative. Just hope that our team can make a game of it in the semi's. Leary though, of our questionably executing offense against a stout JMU defense that kept UNI's offense from crossing onto their side of the field until the final play of the game. Perhaps a field goal will win this game?...& hopefully in the Wildcats favor. :thumb:

Looking forward to next season already.

I would love to see an all Big Sky championship game, both teams have a tough road to get there. I will be cheering for your Cats to make it there regardless of how my Cats do against NDSU.

Thanks for the welcome. Pumped for the game. Top things you folks are worried about on your end? Thoughts on Dukes O and D? Certainly impressed by your teams defense with its intensity and scheme.

It would be great if one of us could make it to the final. It would be sensational if both could do it. The odds are against us, but it would be one epic final. :coffee:

I’m mostly worried about our health at RB. Everyone saw Josh got hurt last week. We also haven’t seen Kris Jackson in a few weeks so really just have Kevin Smith and our FB. Kevin had a great performance at JMU in ‘17 and may need to repeat it.

Our passing offense has stagnated since the Shaheed injury, not to mention our kick and punt return teams. JMU’s DEs will cause some problems but we’ve done a great job protecting Jake most of the year, including the San Diego State game. Jake is going to have to make some big throws this week to move the chains and keep the defense off the field. He doesn’t scare anyone but he is capable.

I think our defense matches up well with JMU although i still have nightmares about Stapleton. He has rare size for an FCS receiver. Our d-line has the depth to battle your big o-line for 4 quarters and we have enough pass rushers to make Dinucci uncomfortable. We probably need to see the 2018 version of Dinucci to win.

I’ve seen some people saying Weber is really similar to UNI, but with all due respect to them, they are not on Weber’s level. We don’t put up gaudy numbers or blow teams out so a lot of fans tend to sleep us. Us Weber fans consistently see opposing fans blaming our opponents for playing poorly rather than crediting Weber for forcing our opponents into mistakes.

I think JMU is the top team in FCS this year and will be extremely tough to beat. We went into Harrisonburg two years ago as an upstart playing the #1 team on a 25 (?) game win streak and nearly walked out with a win. That Weber team was more talented than this version, but this team knows they belong and will show up Saturday fully expecting to win. JMU fans may sleep on us this week but Cignetti won’t. Looking forward to a great game.

Dittos from this side. After watching how well the Redbirds played @NDSU (a bad call away from winning) I'm really optimistic about MSU's chances if they play a clean game. I really believe Weber has less of a chance at the upset but hoping to be shocked. It probably sounds weird but if both Weber and MSU made it to Frisco, I would do whatever it took to make the trip for that match-up but Weber vs NDSU, not sure. The best of luck to both 'Cats this week! In addition to dreaming of a white Christmas, I'm dreaming of the BSC invading Texas in a few weeks.

Hey guys! Another JMU fan here. This is Lawrence from FCS Fans Nation. First of all congrats on another great season, I’m really looking forward to this game and can’t wait to see what plays out. Either team can take this one, as you guys showed us 2 years ago.

Hey guys, another JMU fan here. This is Lawrence from FCS Fans Nation. First off, congrats on an incredible season, I know some people were low on Weber in the preseason but here we are. Hope as many of your fans make it over here for the game on Saturday as in 2017. You guys brought BY FAR the largest and loudest visiting section we’ve seen in Bridgeforth outside of the year we played Liberty, and they’re only an hour away. I’d love to meet up with anyone making the trip!

ps sorry for the double post, still learning the ways here!

Hey guys,

I am goin to the game in Harrisonburg. Is there anything that we need to look out for injury wise? It doesn't look like there will be any rain on Saturday which is good for ball control, but it will still be difficult for us on offense against JMU's defense. They dominated UNI on friday and did not let them cross the 50 yard line until the last play. I think if we keep the ball on the ground and stick to short passes to the boundary we will have a chance to move the ball.

Great Stuff and thanks for sharing. Based on the game Agreed I think your defense matches up well with JMU and will pose some problems based on the scheme and what JMU likes to do offensively. Stapleton has begun to assert himself more over the past few games however Polk is really the separator in my opinion this year vs. Stapleton. Dont get me wrong both Stapleton brothers are outlets for the offense but JMU really tries to ensure Polk gets many touches. I fully expect this game to mirror last week in some aspects. Not because Weber is the same as UNI but I think JMU's coaching staff is going to take what is given to them and run their offense in the way they think puts the points needed on the board and use their faith in the defense and special teams.

I dont think you will find many JMU fans sleeping on you guys. It will be very interesting and important I think to see what comes of Weber's RB position as you mentioned. That and Weber's D Line/LBs ability to rattle DiNucci. Admittedly the coaching staff closed down the playbook last week but it was the first time I think DiNucci flashed glimpses of him old self after the hit on himself and Polk. Seemed to get happy feet and rush some decisions. I will take the Dukes for the win but if Weber can stuff the run and make DiNucci hear footsteps and force mistakes I wouldnt be surprised at the win for Weber. Regardless I expect nothing short of a great game.

One of the biggest things worrying me is the health of our running backs and the inability of our offense to really move the ball in the playoffs.

Defense is killing it right now having only allowed 6 2nd half points combined in both playoff games.

Making our field goals when we can attempt them will also be huge.

can wsu beat the #2 team in the eastern timezone?

wsu on the road this yr:

@ San Diego State: L 6-0
@ Nevada: L 19-13
@ Idaho: W 41-35
@ UC Davis: W 36-20
@ Sacramento State: W 36-17
@ Montana: L 35-16

wow we played our toughest games all on the road. i think we can assume the 2 fbs teams should be better than jmu, both went to bowl games...but even i am not sure. sdsu almost qualified for the mwc champ game.

another interesting observation is sdsu scored 0 TDs, nevada scored 1, davis offense scored 2, sac scored 2. Our D really pounded them all excluding idaho and montana.

Besides our threats at running back what else do we need to watch out for injury wise for the game? We need to have our numbers up if we attempt to stay toe to toe with JMU's defense. Plus, we also need to make sure to stop them when they are on offense or we won't get anywhere. Anyone else going to the game?

Current lines:
JMU -15 1/2 o/u 47
NDSU - 17 o/u 47

Our game originally had a higher o/u than the NDSU-MSU matchup which surprised me. Not surprised it’s been bet down and I expect it will go even a little lower.
