Weber @ Utah

Most likely with it being a early game my tailgate group will have breakfast going, i'll follow up when I know for sure but the visiting fans are always welcome.

I was planning on going but it's my Grandma's 90th birthday party at the same time so it looks like I am going to miss the game.

I will be getting tickets for the Weber section if they are still avaliable. All these FCS wins make me think we have a shot!

If this game helps cover the season's expenses and the USU game allows us to put funds away for facility upgrades, than as long as we come out healthy, bring it on! A win or even a close game is just a bonus.

From what I have heard, because of the two FBS games per year for the past five or six seasons, the administration has been able to save a good amount of monies to help ensure that the Cats will have a 1 FBS, and at least 9 FCS schedule for a good amount of time; especially if the Cats keep getting big money games (450-600K) once a year. I'm just happy we haven't played a DII team since 2008, and if the Cats do elect to play a lower division game, then bring up Dixice State, just like the Utes and Aggies try to play Weber and SUU (still we are all DI schools). Keep the money instate. What is even better is that Weber doesn't have to spend 60-100K of the 500K they are getting from the Utes, for travel costs. Weber will pocket virtually all of the money they earn from USU and Utah (from what I have heard a cool 850-950K).

As for the injury fear, every game there are injury fears. Two SFA players went home with broken bones, which is a total bummer and I hope they can recover quickly and get back on the field for the Lumberjacks soon, but it is part of the game. The Utes or Aggies aren't bigger necessarily, both teams are made up of DI athletes, just the Utes and Aggies have more athletes, talent, and speed. SFA's starting OL might be the biggest line the Cats see all year, and that includes the Aggies and Utes. The game has become quicker and to facilitate that speed, teams are employing tactics to keep their big boys thiner, quicker, and stronger instead of just BIG. Look at our line. They are thinner than in the past, but they played 88 downs on saturday, with the far majority of those downs rushing plays. That takes a lot out of the players, not to mention the Cats play a no-huddle. Our line might not necessarily be deep, but are proving to be fairly talented and are improving. Since the Sac St. game last year, they have only gotten better and better. And as someone pointed out on another thread, our young guys are steppin up. A true freshman started at C and he did a really good job. The Cats rushed for 315 years against a very experienced and talented DL. The Center position is an extremely important position; especially in our offense and he did great. SFA is a good team. Will they win the Southland, probably not, but are they competitive and do they have a chance at the Soutland title?? You bet. That was a very good team the Cats beat. SFA puts up 500 yards of offense practically every week. Thankfully now the Cats are moving the ball and making things happen on offense. Thank you Pflugrad!!

And no, I will not be at the game on Saturday.

I want to see the Cats compete and come home with a moral victory. Do I think they can win? Yes, is it likely, NO. I hope the Utes have to keep their starters in the game until the 4th quarter. That would be a huge victory for our Cats and it would be great to score between 21-28 points. It will take 40+ points to win.

The game will also be televised on the Pac-12 Networks with Matt McConnell and former Utah and NFL star Jamal Anderson calling the action. Pac-12 Network is available on Comcast channel 37 and Dish Network channel 413. It is not available on DirecTV.

FRESHMEN MAKE BIG CONTRIBUTIONS FOR WILDCATS
A total of 20 true freshmen or red-shirt freshmen saw action in Saturday’s win over Stephen F. Austin. Several freshman made key contributions in the win. True freshman running back Zach Smith led the Wildcat rushing attack with eight carries for 88 yards and a touchdown. Smith, a native of Kissimmee, Fla., had a 57-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that sealed the win for the ‘Cats.
True freshman A.J. Coney, a native of Orlando, recorded an interception in the win. True freshman quarterback Austin Chipoletti, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., finished the day 2-3 passing for 51 yards.
True freshman Dakota Jenkins-Baty started at center for the Wildcats. True freshman Carson Fackrell led the kicking game, finishing 3-3 on extra points and had seven kickoffs for 414 yards, an average of 59.1 per kick.

Any one know if those 8 suspended players will be available for the weeks game?
They aren't listed on this week's depth chart. My guess is they aren't going to take any chances by allowing them to play until this NCAA investigation is complete. And knowing the NCAA, it won't be completed for awhile.

This is really too bad. I think Tyson is a great center. That Baty kid did great , but Tyson would be a 4th year starter at center. Mclain I think might be the most missed. I hope to have all 8 back by conference play.Playing two FBS squads, we already are at a disadvantage with numbers, not having 8 more in just worse. Also, anyonw know if the team plans on using Barrington Collins in the offense? I was hoping to see him play Saturday.

Well, did you certain fans have fun watching that 70-7 beating that Utah gave the Wildcats? Ouch!!! Painful to watch!!! Weber was totally overmatched...but hopefully were paid well to play the cupcake role, once again. :wall:

No, didn't enjoy it even though I fully expected a whoopin'. What I disliked most was an apparent lack of defensive effort or bad technique, or both. I was hoping what was seen in the 2nd half of the SFA game would either be corrected or was just a first game thing. The D needs to get a whole lot tougher, meaner, and more aggressive. Many times in this game there were examples of players who looked like they were either playing to not get injured or just don't have good basic technique. I hope to see improvement against the Aggies, who I believe are a better team than the utes.
