Week 1: Sac State @ New Mexico State

I gotta say, I love Matt Lawrence. The guy is grossly undersized for a D1 Tackle at 5'10 265, but he has been so solid for us for so long.

Watching him use his leverage to put a much bigger opponent on his heels in that video, then ripping across for the sack brings a tear to my eye. Kudos to him, total gamer and fun to watch.

Great write up SD. I was ticked after the game, but I expected an 0-2 start anyways... I hope we can turn it around in-conference.

Our defense was fine last year and if the secondary comes around it will be fine this year. You are forgetting that 3 of the 5 DB starters are new and inexperienced. The DL has 3 new starters as well but that unit did fine. Parker needed to make an adjustment in the 1st half instead of waiting until halftime. However maybe due to the inexperience he felt that it had to wait until the half. I’d take Parker’s defense over what we had before he became DC any day of the week and twice on Saturday’s.
 
As disappointed as I am with outcome, I see a lot of potential. This is a team with a new OC and new rhythm. I see a lot of promise. I think most of the errors were first game jitters errors. NMSU wasn't that much better of a team. The final score is misleading. Buzz high from here on now hornets!!!

I agree. We had no defense before Parker.

I saw the game live and I agree with most of what you said. We had good moments in all 3 phases, and we have real reasons to believe in the continued improvement of our team. There were some great things too (compared to past years), just not enough execution or good luck against a bigger faster team.

Now lets regroup and punch CU in the mouth. :x
