Week 13: Causeway....

Great win for the Hornets! This team did a good job of not quitting and came back winning the last 3 games like they should have. Saffron to Carter and Agude was a great combo this year. Nice to see Sankey get in the last few minutes of the game too. The program took a good step toward the future today.

I think aggiemba helped that bighorn sheep escape from the LA zoo...

I didn’t watch the game but followed it on my phone. This game was a complete toss up and regardless of the record, any team could have won it. It’s good to see the dungpilers implode and the shit the bed with turnovers that ultimately cost them the win. Now their fans can feel the pain we have the past couple of years.

Great win for this team. The defense came up big with stops and turnovers and Safron did his thing on offense. Carter became the single season record holder in yards during this win. Hornets got the running game going behind that solid OL as well. Great way for all these seniors to go out after all the hard work they put in over the years in building this program. Not only does it culminate with a Causeway win but also a winning record of 7-5 and the best season for this program in almost a decade and a half.

Now way Sears isn’t rewarded with the permanent HC gig now, he deserves it. He held this team together coming into the season following a tumultuous time and finally got a winning record for this program. Yeah maybe he just happened to be in the right place at the right time (after all none of these players are his recruits) but this team could have easily packed it in and stumbled its way through the season. Instead this team had a strong start to the season, struggled with the better BSC teams but finished strong and feasted on the weaker back stretch of the schedule. Hell of a season, the best one I have witnessed by far.

Very good win for the Hornets and a great way to end the season with 3 straight wins. I, for one, was so disgusted after the No Colorado game, even though it was a win, that I didn't think they would get another win. I was wrong, and I'm glad I was. Sears kept this team together and let his OC do what he does best with the talent on the field. The defense and special teams improved and everyone seemed to come together to come from behind in the last two games. Hopefully this helps recruiting and motivates the returners for next year.

Kudos to the senior leadership and to coach Sears and his staff.

Side note... How the hell does UCD draw 7,047 for the Causeway Classic!? Place looked empty on TV... Good thing they can build out their stadium to 35,000!!!

For reference we drew 12,571 (2013), 12,874 (2011), and 17,127 (2009) in recent years at Hornet Stadium.

I did not attend the game. When I tried to buy tickets from the Sac State ticket office all that was left from our allotment was the end zone grass area. I had no intention of paying to sit on wet grass in the end zone..
Would it kill the dungpilers to provide more actual seats in the allotment? Obviously they are not capable of selling them anyway.

It's been a while since I've posted, but I just wanted to say how damn good it feels to be a Hornet on this beautiful day! Thank you Hornets! We needed that!!!

Found it so odd that the Sac State allotment of tickets were in the south endsone and the Sac State Marching band was put 5 feet away from the Davis Marching band. So odd. Noticed the sections on the east side. The sections on the same side near the north endzone were empty. And have seen games where the visitors are put on the opposite side of the stadium on the west side. Who came up with this odd arrangement yesterday for the rivalry game? And see where some Davis fans were upset that the Hornets were celebrating during the Davis school song after the game. What do you expect. These are kids and want to celebrate with their fans and
it is so stupid to put the Sac State sections and band right next to the Davis band and Aggie Pack. You will not see this at Hornet Stadium where 5,000 to 10,000 more fans have come out the past few Causeways at Sac. And the Davis support at Hornet stadium the past two years has been very small with the west side of Hornet Stadium that seats 11,000 has been at capacity with Hornet fans.

So silly reading the Davis fan board and hearing that Sac State has no class? And we are not a true rival? Guess the game is on TV each year , guess their is a rival luncheon, a rival trophy, the largest attendance when the game is at Hornet Stadium, Causeway t shirts, Causeway rallies, etc. just for no apparent reason. And guess the Aggie band plays a song where everyone yells "Sac State sucks" out of pure respect for their non rival school. Aggie fans find look for anything to find Sac State as the school with no class. Guess the coaching staff at Sac State will need to remind the Hornet players when we win in Davis to act like their is a funeral during the Davis school song as the Aggie fans have emptied the stadium before getting a chance to be happy and celebrate for a Hornet win, even when the game comes down to an exciting fourth quarter where the outcome is in doubt.. And make sure that hand shakes are provided to the Aggie players. Seriously? No Hornet shook a hand a Davis player or coach on Saturday or never have after a Causeway. So silly. Sac State has nothing but respect for Davis. I sat among Davis alum throughout the game and heard how impressed they were with Hornet players during the game . The Davis alum were disappointed but had no ill feeling towards the hornet team .

But glad that all the other teams that come to Davis and win do all the right things and never upset the fragile Davis fans that think Sac State has no respect towards the Aggies. Just so silly and so not true.
