WEEK 3--SAC STATE

So the 0-2 meets the 0-2!
Sac State lost to Western Oregon and Fresno State. I get the Fresno State lost but have no idea who the fetch is Western Oregon. Are they a JC or a D2 school? This is a make or break game for the Wildcats, they must beat Sac State and get back onto a winning track. Lots of changes to come this week by the coaches and players in Ogden!

Big Sky opponent in a OOC game, home debut, last pre-conference match-up. Certainly an unexpected rocky, rough start to this season for both 0-2 teams. Not the loss to USU, but the ugly play by the Wildcats in that game & the disheartening downturn play in the 4th Qtr vs. USD. Was mentioned by CNuanez in the BSC coaches call that Sac. St.'s loss to Western Oregon may have been surprising but not if you know of the strength & history of that good DII program.

Pressure's on for the Wildcats to get their act together for an entire game & this might be the best chance. Maybe an easier opponent, but there are plenty of problems to solve. It makes it a tough challenge still. This fan hasn't lost faith yet in the coaching or players, but there are troubling negatives showing so far this year!

Sep 17 game time 6pm, Stewart Stadium...be there! (or watch it on KJZZ).

My family will be there, because we expected more from the Wildcats we're disappointed by the start but we can get things turned around this week at home. Hoping for a complete game from the cats.

I think the Cats get the comfortable win in this one. Sac State losing to a DII school is inexcusable. Weber losing to Sac State this Saturday would likewise, be inexcusable.
34-20 Weber

If Weber doesn't blow Sac State out of the water, we might as well write off the rest of the season.

45-10 Cats!

Sac's defense looked decent against Fresno State this past weekend. They only allowed 474 yards and caused some TOs. They did a really good job of limiting Fresno. However, Sac's offense was bad. Cody Demps, huh, he seemed to have had the best game for the Hornets. I don't care what the score is, as long as the Cats get a win. Cannot lose to Jody Sears at home.

In Sacramento they are calling for Sears' head. Some are claiming that he has already been removed from the actual coaching and is just doing fund raising until his contract is up. At any rate, Sac fans are hoping for one or two wins this season. Weber should not be a possibility.

If we don't win convincingly, it may well be a long season.

Weber 49 - Sac 10

Just finished listening to Hills weekly interview on 1280. No mention of the offense or players. Not really the best interview. I would ask about the QB play, injuries, what is affecting the defense, but they are just throwing Weber a bone. No matter, coach said it was a loss that "rips the heart out." Hopefully, he can get his players in the right mindset and get them headed back in the right direction.

However, this setup is almost exactly the same as it was last year. Weber had lost two games and were coming into the game against Sac 0-2. Granted, the competition was a bit different last year since the Cats played Oregon State and North Dakota State (I'm think USU is going to be better than what Oregon State was last year and that USD was definitely a winnable game). No matter, a win on Saturday is a must. Weber has to get their season turned around. I know that Sears is going to be bringing it this week. He knows he has to get a win and nothing would be sweeter to him than to get a W against his former team in Ogden. Weber has to be ready to go.

I think conditioning and depth are really affecting us right now. I don't quite understand why you sign a bunch of JC guys if you aren't going to play them. That is why I feel that most are either injured or have become total busts. I think most are injured. Our CBs and Safeties have been hammered.

Prince having surgery today on this shoulder, they are medical redshirting him for the season. Wishing him a speedy recover and heres to putting on some serious weight on during the off season.

Interesting comments in regards to JC guys and why aren't they playing? Great Question??
I wonder about the same thing regarding Walk On's! Weber is not a team full of 5, 4, 3 or even 2 star recruits, yet they have very few walk-on's that play on the team. Interesting how programs like USU YBU and UofU consisently have walk-on's that become big impact players on the team. When was the last time that a walk on made it as a starter and they then put them on scholarship? Interesting Hill and the Coaching staff continue to use the same group of players which some produce but a lot of them don't at all and yet they keep starting week after week. Doesn't make since when you have a bunch of 1 star and No star recruits in the program and that the JC transfers and walk-ons aren't getting a shot, ever? Appears that the coaches are only interested in their personal recruits even if they are not the best player on the team or if it is going to cost them wins. Sounds crazy but we see very few other players on the field. When they played USU and were down by 40 with 8 minutes left and all Clark was doing was handing the ball off running out the clock why didn't they bring in the new JC transfer QB and see what the Cheeseburger can do (yes that is his nickname on the team)......Frustrating to see some of the players the past 3 years producing the same old results.

My only issue is with the injured list. We all have to know they are longer than what is being reported. Case in point, last year Kory Wilson played in 10 games as a true freshman and he hasn't seen the field yet. That tells me he is either injured or red shirting.

Should be a Weber win. This is the worst Hornet team I have seen, and that is saying a lot considering that I had to endure the Moosh era in the early to mid 2000's.

That said our defense played their asses off at Fresno (10-3 early in the 4th). But our offense is completely impotent and special teams are questionable at best. We should leave Sears in Ogden once this game is over.

Fully agree, WSU should beat SACK STATE with their run game alone. This is one of the weakest teams they will play all season.
Lots of drama at practice from the coaches this week. Coaches are starting to feel the pressure. Looks like they are going bag all that they worked on in the off season and go back to their old stuff to to try to get 4 or 5 wins this year to try to salvage their jobs.

Fesi Sitake
Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks

We know we have an outstanding offensive line. NO QUESTION! They are a tremendous group! Thank you Coach Myers. Please don't ever leave Ogden! They move the line on running plays and very seldom give up any Sacks on passing plays! Coach Myers does it with average talent and superior coaches skills. So Fesi has been at WSU going on his third year and was over the receivers his first two years. We all agree that the QB play has been weak but it was weak the last few years and we all blamed Coach Clarke for that but he is gone to YBU. What has coach Fesi done and why are we not calling him out and holding him accountable for the offense? The receivers last season had almost 50 dropped passes, without much in YACS. Most position coaches would get fired for performances like that but not at WSU, they promote him? WSU already has 10 drop passes in 2 games this year. With little to no YACS this year except for one broken play. So Fesi's three starters at WR that he has developed and personally selected over the past 3 years is 1#Cam, 3#Denby and 6#Drew. All of them started every game last season and every game this season and what have they done..nothing...no deep threat, no YACS, no blocking, lots of drops...are they getting any better? Not that the stats are showing me! Last season they put 89# Ross Stripling in for one game against NAU and lit it up for 3 catches and 58 yards and a tug to the house and after that we never saw him again and he hasn't seen the field yet this season? Ross is 6'4 not 5'8 like Denby, that must be the problem. No Ross is not hurt, he is perfectly healthy. I guess because the three blind mice are doing so well they can't afford to bring in anyone else in because 6# Drew & 1#Cam are averaging 4.0 and 6.5 yards per catch as our wideouts, wow? These are Fesi's fruits of his Masterwork? Smells rotten to me. Something has to change! Fesi isn't concerned though, he's leaving after the season to go coach with his cousin the head coach at YBU. Maybe he can help Detmer out.

Yeah, didn't understand why Sitake was being promoted to OC when he wasn't getting it done as passing game coordinator and receivers coach.

Dang, I'm glad this game is in two days, no bye week in between. Maybe we can get some of our fans away from the ledge.

We just need to get some of our guys back on D and clean up a bit more of the offense. We are not that far from turning this thing around. Football is measured in yards but it is a game of inches. In that SDSU game it was a generous mark on a fourth down play that resulted in a Yotes first down and a last second TD to send the game into overtime. If there would have been IR challenges, we may well have won that game in regulation and we wouldn't have so many ready to jump. Eventually, we will get some of those breaks.

I still have faith in our coaches to right this ship. I don't know what changes we might see, but I feel that they would only make changes that would make us better. :coffee: :grizo1:
