Week 5: Sac State at Idaho State

Don't give up yet Hornet fans; I'm sure we can squeak out a couple conference wins somewhere along the way. There goes the attendance for next weeks game vs Montana State; probably another blow out!

never recall a lopsided win like this to the bottom feeder ISU in our Big Sky history. Really sad. And great for ISU who has lost 46 games in a row on the road. Perhaps the mightly Benglas will beat Eastern Wash. next week. This was a game we were favored with an 11-7 all time record against the mightly Bengals. Wow. Bengals win big...Hornets lose big.

Go Sac State.

yep, there goes the attendance at home which has just hung on for years as the third best in the Big Sky as Hornet fans have no interest in any Big Sky opponent accept Davis.

know that the team did their best in the ISU shack and congrats to the ISU bottom feeder who has been strrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrruggling for many years.

This was a win we needed if there were any hopes that this would be a playoff team. ISU is much improved, sadly we are not.

agree.

ISU has been struggling for many years and today was their day to win a big one.

Time for Sac State to regroup and move on.

Kadeezy I think in your predictions you called this game for ISU. i remember what WSU did last year under Sears....

I have enjoyed the interviews on the radio with Coach Sears and his TEAM first attitude. Coach K of ISU was the huge winner today. Think it was his 7th win in three yrs at ISU over a veteran Sac State team.

Disappointing game, congratulations to the long suffering Bengals they deserved to win today. We just made too many mistakes, and blew too many opportunities to expect to win. The early ejection of Sankey and the selectively blind BSC officials didn't help either. The Bengals are obviously a better team this year, great OL, good QB, RB & Receivers. We were getting no pressure on the QB.. With a offense like that you have a punchers chance regardless of who you play, they will surprise some people.. There is still a lot of football to be played, keep the faith. Time to shake this one off and work on beating Montana State.

agree.

ISu like every other shcool in the Big Sky is trying ti improve and atch up with the top of the conference. ISU was the way bette team today and was prepareed to take down the Sac State Hornets.

Now it is the Hornets turn to prepare and take take the MSU Bobcats that we have come so close to taking down year after year after year.

The top team in the Big Sky just do enough to stay on top and the middle and bottom teams like Sac State do jsut enought to stay out of the picture.

Have a great week of prep. for MSU.

May we not get a player ejected from the game...ridiculous. and may have a DEFENSE . Like the top defensive player in the FCS is doing helmet to helmet. Are u kidding? Thanks Big Sky horrible officals. So glad REPLAY is coming next yeas to help this horrible ague officals.

Sorry GL but the MSU game is not even going to be close. Our DLine is too slow, and either too fat or too small to get any kind of pressure. We had no pressure on an average at best ISU team and they put up 44 on us. We will be lucky if we can keep MSU under 63 pts. Offensively we made limited plays, and did little in the 2nd half to give us Hornet fans any hope. They are already playing like they did against Cal Poly last year. This will be a long season.

Southern Idaho is at last happy tonight for the first time in years due to a Hornet defense which is being ripped a part. Is there anything that our coaching staff can do to help our defense struggling corps. Idaho State did anything they wanted on offense.

I loved the selectively blind Big Sky officials comment - we can all agree they must be the worst in the country. You did cost me in the Big Sky Challenge - I thought Sac had an automatic win.

44-24 Loss. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Embarrassing loss that ends any ideas about this being anything other than a at best middle of the road season. Games like these are why this program is at where it is and why no one really cares about Hornet football.

This will get interesting on the administrative side of things now. Assuming the season plays out as we expect (maybe 6 wins tops) then Macriss will have to make some moves on the HC position. If the wheels fall of then he shouldn’t wait until the end of the season to start putting out some feelers for candidates. If for some reason he resigns Sears then I don’t think there is any hope for the future of this program.

I am not ready to give up on the season. We are not that good as a defensive backfield but we need to make up for it in other places like not fumbling the first play of the game. If Safron is a star he needs to act like it and play like it. Plus the ints? Can't have them. One in Rz and one right after half? Come on, Peterson love that we put of points but can not give up 14 on offense

Funny, I was thinking Saturday night that if I am Macriss, Monday morning I should be on the phone putting out feelers for a new head coach. This was on Sears, they were not ready, not even close.

Sears was hired to be the defense guru. Him being HC and DC showed he is not the candidate for full-time HC duties. The defense was mauled by a team that is always a 'W' on our schedule.

Please Macriss, please find a HC to take this team to the next level. Don't take the easy route and throw Sears a 3-5yr. bone to let this program sink to where Weber is now.

I should be disappointed with the results, guess this is what I expect from this program. :coffee:

To the poster who said we should drop down to D2.....I wholeheartedly agree. The University has made no committment to the program by providing facilities or accountability. I mean when CP and UCD declared they were going to FCS both schools fund raised and built a new stadium fitting a D1 program. We are DI in name only and to be honest, I would rather be playing D2 ball and having a chance to have a perennial .500 team.

Barring an upset over MSU or UM, this season is lost. Sure it's early, but this game against ISU should've been a slam dunk. I don't care how improved they are, Saturday just really was a perfect example of the perpetual sad state of Hornet football....

Everyone needs to take a step back from the ledge and see how the season plays out!
There is no way we will ever go back to D2, NAIA football etc. I believe that only Humboldt State and maybe Azusa Pacific (?) are the only D2 football schools left in California.
The NCAA will not allow a school to play at a lower level in football and still maintain D1 in other sports, that would kill many of our other solid D1 programs, not happening.. A more realistic ( but certainly not desirable) scenario would be for the new President to pull the plug on the football program, cut the number of sports and focus on the programs that we have traditionally done well in. Be careful what you wish for!
