Week 5 - SUU - Friday Night Lights!

WOW! What was that? The Wildcats put it in REVERSE tonight!!

Coach Hill took full blame, he said giving Shaw some reps at QB was his decision, not anyone else, while adding that QB Clark needs to learn to lead the team down the field as a starter on a regular basis. Did remain positive while admitting "stupid mistakes" added to the THUD tonight.

But am I wrong in feeling that SUU kicking a couple of field goals when the score was already 31-0, then 41-0 was totally UNCLASSY !!

A nightmare to get over

I have never seen such a pathetic offensive performance in my life. Steve Clark has no idea how to play call and has no imagination for new plays. I really question his ability to teach quarterbacks I think he had good quarterbacks at SUU and they made him look good because he has done nothing at Weber to coach up any QBS. I am totally frustrated watching this team run the same plays over and over with no results. We should fire Clark asap and also play Shaw since you burned his redshirt.

Lack of class? Hardly...when you put in your 2nd unit, you want them to have REAL game experience...not lay down just cuz yer ahead a gazillion to nothing. Those kids wanna score too. NO...what was unclassy was the way this team gave up on themselves AND their fans when they were down 7-0! I left the game early for the first time in over 50 years. FIFTY YEARS! (at 24-zip, SUU) Also for the first time, I didnt have to sit and wait in traffic...lol.
I have frozen, got soaked, got blown outa the stadium, stuck with em thick n thin win or lose. I keep coming each season hoping not to miss "The BIG season" and be part of it. Right now, bases on results, I have a hard time believing we will ever be more than a middle to lower Big Sky team. WELCOME TO FREAKING POCATELLO, SPORTS FANS. I think I have finally had it with getting up for another coaching staff believing...THIS will be the one that gets it done. Im not so sure I can do that another year. Its just something I have to work thru. Face it, we haven't seen a really competetive Wildcat football since 2008. Our first two wins this season were just a pigment of my fanagiation. When does basketball season start?

I feel ya. I left early as well, and I never do that. Got to admit, Weber's starting to lose me. Can't take much more of this.

Yes B2BPG you're right, I guess we can thank the Wildcat defense for stopping a few more scores to pile it on, after all, the Wildcat offense sure helped the T-birds pile on the points throwing interceptions.

Just when some hopeful outlook was rising with this fan, reality has slapped it down! Looks now like this team's offense is in trouble whenever it plays an opponent that has a decent defense. Wakeup call? Adversity? Season defining moment? And next up, the Grizzlies who are mean & rude hosts, when was the last Wildcat win in Missoula? I can remember plenty of loses there. :twocents:

“Jadrian’s got to help bring Justin along by the way he plays,” said Hill. “He’s got to continue to do a good job.” :ohno: What an unbelievably stupid comment. Jadrian is not your QB coach and he's not doing a good job. If Clark starts at Montana I'm done watching.

I drove down from Logan to hopefully watch a good in state rivalry game, but instead saw a very poorly coached Weber St football team. I've been watching this board for a few years and finally decided to post after watching that mess. what the heck is going on with this offense? The running backs are very good, the line gives good protection and the receivers seem to get open. The QB play is perplexing to say the least. I watched Billy Green tear up the passing game last year and statistically speaking was miles ahead of what's happening this year. How can Green be passed over after seeing what's going on. You can only blame coach Hill for the direction of this team. Going with a true freshman even after the pick six and bouncing back and forth between him and Jadrian show just how lost Hill is as coach. Thank God for a good defense though. That Tela kid is really fun to watch! Sorry for the rant!

I don't know why I'm on here again-- I'm done, I can't watch this pile of :shit: anymore but I do.

@LoganAggie: No doubt, Tela is flat out nasty. The line did give JClark plenty of time last night, probably as well as they've done this season but I'm not sure how good the RBs are since the line doesn't open many holes for them. Despite that, SClark runs that counter (or whatever it is) right into the pile 85% of the time and 98% of the time on 1st, 2nd, or 4th downs. I kinda disagree with the assessment that the receivers get open since the 1 pass play run 99% of the time consists of every receiver running a fly route and JClark throwing a blind, wobbly, lame-duck, hail maryesque 40 yard pass that's usually either under-thrown or 6 yards out of bounds. The 1% of the time they use a TE underneath the throw hits 'em in the hands, right on the numbers, and they drop it-- EVERY freaking time! I've been a Hill supporter and fan and been willing to cut him some slack since he inherited a decimated program, is only in his 2nd season, and he lost key staff to your Aggs, however, I'm loosing faith fast based on what's been happening with the offense and his comments this past week.

@SWC02: You may as well make that call now. Listening to Hill on the pregame show, he said something to the effect of what we've already heard-- wanting to give Shaw meaningful snaps and that a two QB system will work fine. Uh, no it won't! It rarely does and NEVER has or will at "just Weber." Who's @ss is JClarks head up? Why haven't we seen Green, he seriously can't be worse. If you're going to burn a RS then take some learning bumps and develop the kid! Oh, wait, we have a coaching staff that hasn't a clue how to do that! I could have much more patience with 2 INTs by a RS FR than with continued overthrows, underthrows, throws behind, and throws literally straight into the ground (everyone "catch" that gem last night?) from a cocky, more experienced QB. I don't think I can watch anymore, I certainly can't go Stewart again, I'm traumatized! That's the worst offensive display I have ever witnessed and this is coming from a VERY long time Weber fan. The Clarks are the most embarrassing examples of offense I have ever seen! Ya, I think I'm done. :puke:

Hill lost Justin Ena to the Utes. No one went to USU from our staff. Loganaggie, thank you for coming down and supporting Wildcat Football. I was telling my wife that Aggies are usually going to be our biggest advocates after their own school. Sorry for the embarrassing display...from the play on the field, to the PA and sound system, to the idiotic inflatables that is our marketing guys treasured go-to when he does nothing else, and the pathetic excuse for a tailgate. Most area high schools do a better job of game prep and stadium atmosphere. By the way, what the hell was up with the music? We weren't at a Rave but a football game. Good thing I'm not a VP, Jerry would be expected to explain some things today. Absolutely embarrassing representation of Weber State University.

With that being said, I want somebody to take Steve Clark from us. He is awful! Terrible coach. Even in our wins, the offense has absolutely under-preformed. Last night we were cocky, unprepared, and frankly lost. Running the same damn play 5 times in a row for 6 yards? Really Steve? You are pulling a Gooch... Pull your head out. Also...there are other QBs!! Green was far better at his worst last year, than Jadrian been at his best ever this year. You burn a red shirt when you have three other QBs? Please bench Jadrian. He isn't a DI QB.

One last thought....unless I get a few more ideas to vent on. If we cant score a single point at home against the T-sparrows. ..WHAT THE HELL IS GONNA HAPPEN IN WASHINGTON GRIZZ STADIUM NEXT GAME? I happened read from a couple of Grizz forums way into the weeee morning hours. They think we are perennial cellar dwellers. I can't disagree with that statement.(based on results) I hate to lose ONE SINGLE FAME but its a lot easier to swalliw if the product on the field is entertaining, which just ain't a happenin' ya'all. :yikes: :shocking:

Well, that sucked. Ouch!! SUU decided to play on Friday. Weber didn't want to. They were tougher and we backed down.

1. Jadrian is not the guy we need.
2. You don't burn a red shirt because the guy is killing it on the scout team.
3. You have a much better passing QB. I'd say three are better than Clark.
4. Receivers aren't getting the job done. Bad routes and runs.
5. Hold the coaches accountable. They need to get better like the players.

Heavens!! I can't believe I am posting this much on the football forum. I must be interested in Weber State Football. Usually, I feel that football season is merely there to help prepare us for basketball season. But this is the time of year, where most of us finally realize that Weber State Football has done it again to us. Made us think that we'd be better than what we really are. Damn them for making me believe. LOOOOOOOL

All kidding aside. I really believe that Jay Hill is the right guy for the Cats. I think it is impressive that he has gotten the fanbase so energized so quickly after three awful seasons. We believe in him so much that we are absolutely disgusted by the lopsided loss on Friday. It hurts so much because we all want to believe so much in what he is doing and we want to see our Cats become respectable again. I'm with Jay and I want to continue to hope he can bring back some glory to Wildcat Football.

On a side note...

A. SUU is a very good team. We have been bashing our Cats for the past three days and rightfully so, they were terrible on Friday (a mixture of overconfidence and lack of toughness. They couldn't back up their bravado), but lets not forget that SUU should have beaten the Aggies. They are a very good team and so is Utah State. I think that loss to the Aggies really destroyed their confidence and they laid an egg against South Dakota State.

B. SUU has an extremely well coached defense. They have a lot of seniors and upperclassmen represented on their 2 deep. They are mature, physical, and very well coached. Ed Lamb is a stud and if you don't think he is a good coach, you are dead wrong. He is a great coach. What he gets out of his kids is remarkable. I think Jay is going to get to that point, but he needs some of these stingers.

C. SUU has their missionary pipeline wide open (by the way, Sharp and Mikkelson were both originally WSU commits) and that really helps. Their receivers were kicking our DBs butts all over the field. These guys are 23/24 year old guys playing against 19/20 year old kids. SUU has a lot of upper classmen playing and there are a lot of missionaries in their program who are sophomores and freshman. Jay gets his first class of missionaries back next Summer and is playing with mostly underclassmen who are 19/20.

D. SUU sees this as a true rivalry. They have their own trophy that Weber pretends doesn't exist. Stop pretending and believe there is a trophy. Traveling trophies create pride and a following. It energizes fan bases and school pride. Our athletics administration would be wise to buy into a traveling trophy and dive into the rivalry with a little more enthusiasm. This is an instate rivalry bill it as such and really get the students behind it.

E. This might be one of the best defenses the Cats face this year. Even so, the offense needs help and quickly. But give SUU credit. They punched us in the nose and really took us out of our game. Spotting them 24 points and falling victim to their Utahesque fake will do that. That's 31 of their 44 points. Our defense isn't half-bad. If we can get some more offensive production, I like our chances moving forward. I hope SUU well and hope they get back into the Playoffs this year. They have the schedule to really make some noise in the Sky. But lets give credit where credit is due. SUU is a damn good team.

That's right, keep on telling yourself that SUU was such a great Team!!! That's why WSU got killed!
Please don't try to rationalize the horrible coaching and playing by WSU by telling us how great SUU was.
With your rationalization of SUU, BYU should be on their way to another national championship, NOT!
The missionary crap is just that, That's why BYU is 1-27 in the last decade against nationally ranked teams. I guess it must be the missionary pipeline myth you are referring to? Last I looked there are no return missionaries at Ohio State.
