Week 7 - #18/20 Sac State vs Eastern Washington

I’d take it. TT isn’t lighting the world on fire at the funny farm. He made his $$$, so come home and retire with a nice long run building the program again.

It’s totally on Fresques/Thompson for only having one QB for the season. KB was halfway out the door last mid season. Almost dereliction of duty by the coaches wasting a year like this.
True… he’s made about $12M. Empty Cardinal FB Stadium. Tough having 49ers new stadium 8 miles away.
I think end of this season would be good time to visit him if we’re mark Orr and Wood.
Nothing to lose! I think he was happy here. I see him at Stanford he looks stressed. (Aging Accelerated).

Let's play this out. Curious what the alternative would have been here. Let's say KB did leave this past offseason, would we really prefer Camp (SR in his last year of eligibility) starting over Conklin? Both have similar traits with Camp having a bigger frame and arm and similar, if not lesser, mobility than Conklin. Spending a year with a player that is done rather than giving the younger player meaningful time to develop seems short-sighted.

Or is the argument a better QB than any currently on the roster would have been brought in?

Conklin saw meaningful time last year while also preserving his redshirt. Conklin was always the heir apparent. I'm struggling to follow the logic on this hypothetical.
I think a new QB brought in that is RPO who is better suited for TT's offense, or whatever Fresques is trying to run. Conklin is a pocket passer, that is not what TT ran.

You shouldn't need multiple years to develop a RPO QB, Idaho brought in a new kid and didn't miss a beat.

This is why I'm wondering what we haven't seen Barton come in for redzone plays to at least have a threat. They may be holding him off until the final four games to preserve a RS and have him in the QB room as a RS Jr. next year.

I served with the guy. I know his character. He wasn't the type to go into the second half and lose track of what was working in the first half....
I’m thinking we will need an up a coming OC that is showing creativity and good in game adjustment skills.
Even when Bobby F starts w a good plan 1st half the opponent adjusts and seems like Bobby F isn’t prepared to adjust to what the Defense is offering during those moments.
I’m guessing Bobby is up in the box watching. I’m thinking he should change things up like TT and be in the sidelines where he can see the O & D line battles as well as the secondary better.
After a season and a half of him at the OC role I see a very basic offense. Thankfully he has ton of talent to break tackles etc.
If we have a bad season our recruiting will begin to decline as well. I hope Bobby F gets it together. Regroups his squad and understands what we need to keep his job and be a .800 win type legacy program.
We need to have legacy consistency to UM Griz in Big Sky. And do that in Big Sky then on our next growth move into FBS.

I’m starting to think Bobby F too prideful to use Troy Taylor’s teachings. He seems to be stubborn and wanting to make his own offense work.

We had such a great offense that I don’t understand how I’ve seen zero humility or accountability by coach BF? Or maybe it just isn’t being seen by me and having him use the old plays & style of our best years, 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I emailed mark orr said time to be a big boy program and start having the music w some accountability w Press Confrrences. That Sh-t Show at NAU still has me losing sleep at night. Ugh

I think Bobby knows I’m pissed because he blocked me. As I stated. I like Bobby F. But this is not personal. It’s business! He’s a paid D1 football coach. He has to deliver plain and simple.

I’m nervous because EWU will be rolling the dice and they better have given Conklin some hot routes, draws, shuttle passes or something to counter the blitz.

100% the game starts exactly like NAU on defense. And our O Line 5 vs 3 was getting beaten.
Which was shocking.

We win this game by 10. Bobby F will run the ball often then a few throws. But Montana state / UCD etc he better get it together or I’m going to be saying his name often and loud to go back to being our QB coach and needing a legit OC.

Even FU CD w ref assistance against Portland state seem to have a good OC

Right now I feel Bobby Fbis at our near the bottom in our conference for OC performance and productivity!

It’s a brutal tough climb back to Top 10
I agree with you Bobby Fresquez is a huge problem. He should not be the offensive coordinator at all, he needs to either go back to being the quarterback coach or get fired.

No Sir… I was suggesting Conklin would be starter with KB! Carson Camp would be backup if anybody got injured because he knows our offense now and has enough experience to step in at a moments notice.

Well that idea is dead, lost 2 of 3. Now it is only Conklin in we trust. If Conklin goes down guess Bobby F or Pielstick could suit up? j/k

Worst management of personnel in a long time.

I’ve been suggesting the 2 QB system this entire time because KB is fragile. And because KB can’t sling it like Carson Conklin.
However our genius OC / QB Guru decided he only likes a 1 QB system? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Defense made no adjustments at halftime. That’s on Coach Thompson. I’m sorry. We didn’t blitz much the first half and they noticed. And then we play shell the first two drives on the half and let them pick us apart.

If we throw the football every down on this first drive of the second half, I might be done for the year. I can’t watch us waste so much talent.

We spent the entire Troy Taylor era playing Chess. We got annoyed when it was occasionally 3D Chess.

I don’t even know if we are playing Checkers. What’s simpler than Checkers? Marbles? Kick The Can? Whatever it is, we are doing that.

We have a Football first AD. I’m hoping we see some major changes this offseason. Bring in some youth to this coaching staff and get us ready for FBS action.

Or we have Super Hornets idea of a 74 year old offensive coordinator. I guess that’s still on the table.

Terrible coaching staff. They’re really going to burn down this program all in the matter of 24 months. A program that was ranked #2 overall in the country once.
Embarrassing offense. Can’t make adjustments, zero feel for the game. Undisciplined defense. Stopped loving each other as player because coaching staff decide to put their own “print” onto a he program. Decides not to play the guys that brought you to greatness but would rather play favorites and play guys you like.

Embarrassing. Couldn’t even take advantage of a weak conference schedule

Love the contributions of Fresques to the history of the program but he has absolutely turned a Ferrari into an '85 Escort. We had an identity and creativity on offense with TT that is absolutely gone now. It's like Fresques got the job and said, "You know what, let's go back to the way we played on offense prior to everything I learned from Troy, predictable and boring."

My hope is the AD realizes that you have to have a fun, innovative offense at this level of college football. This team is absolutely atrocious to watch right now and it's kind of amazing how fast they've dropped off.
