Sac must be doing well financially as charter buses are expensive, if they are offering this as a free trip for students that aren't theirs?

The current Chico State president was a long time provost at Sac State.

To make a broad point on all of this, there is a lot of panic and exaggeration on social media.

Low interest in college sports is a CA problem. AI threatening jobs is a problem. FBS not wanting to expand is a problem. Funding stadium projects in CA combined with tarrifs/inflation is a problem. None of this was caused by Dr. Wood. Dr. Wood staying quiet will also NOT solve any of the problems.

I hope attendance is high tonight and people understand that they will not personally be hurt if Montana fans don't like us. Bad blood helps sports.

Exactly. That magical '22 season should have had Hornet Stadium bursting at the seams for every game, but it was just a slight clip above the prior season from an average numbers standpoint. I think seeing the lackluster fan support of that season (considering how special that team was) was the kick in the ass admin need to go all in on FBS. Disagree with Dr. Wood's hype machine all you want but the prior approach of hoping the product on the field/court alone would drive attendance was proven to not get people through the gate on a consistent basis.

We got 16.8k through the gates tonight, which should have been better, but not too shabby considering the Kings had their home opener going on at the same time.

Finally tally was 10 for 80 versus 1 for 5.

Hard to beat anyone playing 18 on 11. Sure, the Hornets were undisciplined and committed many of their penalties, but there’s no chance Montana only committed one penalty all game. They just weren’t calling them tonight.

That said, the Hornets beat themselves with unforced error after unforced error.

The 3 plays that stood out most to me were the missed tackle by Rocha and Lee leading to UM’s first score, the holding penalty called on Sam Adams nullifying Hammond’s kick return (SAC ended up turning the ball over on downs on the failed punt fake), and, of course, the botched punt return by Fresques in a tie game just before half.

That’s a 21-point swing with just 3 plays.
