First off: sorry I couldn't make it on Saturday uncfootballrules. I was drinking beer with you in spirit. ( Besides, my Student loan hasn't come through yet, so I couldn't afford the $6 a pop.)

Second: Sorry Beardown but I gotta go with the sane people here. If Downing fails again, you can the guy that brought him here. Hinrichs is on thin ice. People can dog Downing all they want, but if you fire Downing, do you give Hinrichs another chance to screw up...again? The word is out in college Athletics...we will not get any decent applicants here as long as Hinrichs is in charge. Successful A.D.'s let their coaches coach, and their job is to put a friendly face on the Athletic Department. Hinrichs has alienated his staff, and the public, and now the chickens are coming home to roost. His saving grace will be basketball. If Mens BB can show some success, it might save Jay his job, if not, then throw him out with the new uniforms.

Third: Bill O'Boyle is on of the most intense coaches I've ever been around. He and Dobbs are cut from the same cloth, and I can guarantee you that he had Chadron up and ready. People have to get next to the idea that football is football is football. I'm kind of sick of coming on here and reading how we are supposed to be big and bad because we are D1AA. Maybe we need to concentrate less on what we think we should be, and work harder on what we can be. Someone forgot to tell Chadron that they were supposed to lose; just as someone forgot to tell App State. Maybe someone needs to tell our linemen that just because the guy across from them outweighs them by 15 lbs, doesn't automatically make the other guy a better player. I think that Downing just needs some work in the motivation arena.

Fourth: We will be successful again. Go Bears!!!

Fifth: I could go on but I have to go work on my work sample. If anyone would like to sell me their old work sample, I would be willing to pay...ALOT!

I can see why they hired Downing. He's got lots of experience at the highest level of college football and has been around some successfull programs. He's been a head coach and coordinator and most recently the recruiting coordinator for Nebraska who had a top 5 recruiting class the past few years. He knows this area and is respected among high school coaches. I remember when we did hire him Bill Callahan said Downing would dominate at this level because of the connections he has.

As of right now, I am in the boat with the people who say it was a bad hire. However, I'll use SDSU as an example again. They lost their first 3 games last year, including one to a d3 team and won like 7 straight games. If Bears can come away with a 2-2 record in this road stand, I'll retract my statement about Downing.

People regardless of what you think, our situation is screwed up because our coaches are struggling to motivate the players. There is no way regardless of IAA or DII that Cadron St should have won a football game against UNC especially if they have a head coach that is being compared to Dobbs! Chadron St did have something to prove, but UNC had more to prove and they disscraced all of us that played and coached at UNC before them by getting there a**ses kicked by Chadron St (excuse me, I just threw up in my mouth). UNC will be a good program again......but it will require a fresh start..............HINRICHS AND DOWNING RESIGNING ON THE SAME DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
