Western Illinois

I can't believe how many times a WIU player was on the turf dinged up or came away gimpy, it seemed every time their players hit the ground in the 2nd half we were dealing with an injury. I don't ever remember seeing it happen so many times in a half of football. They also looked very sluggish in the second half, opposite how they looked in the 1st quarter. I wonder if the altitude did get to them because there was a noticeable change in their energy.

Great game and every bit as close as advertised. Well worth the $$$ of admission-- students, of which I currently have two, could not get anyone in but themselves. Weber needed every bounce their way they got, especially with some very questionable play call in the 4th. Coach, every special teams play can't be a trick play! I'd love to go to Cedar City next week to see the Wildcats exact revenge on the Thunderturds but my calendar is not going to allow it! Keep it rollin', boys!

Good Win Weber, Western Illinois is a good football team and they made us work for every yard. Glad to get another shot at SUU, I may even go to the game.

GO WILDCATS

I just got my hotel. Revenge is a dish best served on someone else home field

Official attendance was 6,800+ but it seemed like a bigger crowd than that. On to SUU, time for payback.

I don't usually buy Weber's attendance numbers, but I REALLY don't buy those numbers. Stadium holds close to 18,000 and the Eastern side was almost full. Someone didn't count all the tickets, that was easily the largest crowd we have had since we hosted NDSU in 2014.

Does seem low. Nice to see as many UWI fans as there was. NCAA must of made them actually make an accurate count, instead of the BS "counts" they usually make.

Where is that "official attendance" figure from?
Maybe there's an incentive to undercount the actual this time instead of the usual overcount...as in playoff $$$ ticket sales to the NCAA? Sure looked like MORE than that this time, as Wildcat said. :twocents:

Had to watch the game online. Hell of a great game. I was really sad that I wasn't able to attend in person. Kudos to Western. They were every bit as good as advertised. What a great way to host a playoff game for the first time in university history. As for the attendance, no way there was only 6. Maybe that was official "paid" attendance. The East stands were full and the west looked pretty good too. Only the ends were sparsely filled. You could also hear how loud the crowd was. Awesome game!!

One would think the SUU - Cedar City folks are happy that it's Weber State next Sat.? Sold out is certainly the probable situation...stadium & hotel rooms. Chance for some "showing proof" this time around!?
Guessing it's going to be just ESPN3 ?

As expected, that was a great game. Kind of a shame these two teams got matched up in the first round. Feel bad for UWI for that as both teams are at least quarterfinal quality teams. The NCAA really should scrap the regionalization and seed all teams if they want to be fair to their student-athletes.

I agree, Western Illinois was a solid squad and it's too bad they had to travel to Ogden while NAU got to host San Diego in the First round (And get smoked to boot  ) As happy as I am for Weber to win the game, I also feel WIU got the shaft. They were 6-1 on the road prior to tonight, only good teams can do that.

Congrats on a well played game, now go take care of SUU.
That is the plan. Easy to say, hard to do. We should have a good contingent of Cats heading to the deep south.

I'm going to buy my tickets for SUU tonight, but is there a particular section that I could expect most/all of the Weber fans to be sitting in?

I was just thinking of buying mine at our ticket office. The WCC has a bus going down. Two nights hotel for two, two tickets to the game and who knows what else, for $240.00. I'll probably just drive down myself.
