What will make our football program legit?

Yeah SDSU was terrible at selecting HC’s until Hoke showed up. I’m still skeptical about that program keeping it together with him gone now.

We were in the same nasty position here after Moosh got done destroying the Hornet program. Had we followed up with a terrible HC hire, Hornet football would probably be on the chopping block right now.

You're right. This program would be on the way out if another Mooshagian were hired...

Saw a bus stop shelter advertisement for Sac State Football while driving on Madison avenue today. Was completely shocked. I am now convinced that someone in the AD reads this forum regularly.

On another note... Anyone know whatever happened to Kendall Riley? I think it was NCAA 2002 where the IAA schools were actually included... I used to play with Leadingham, Amey, and Riley running the show. I know what happened to the other two, but I feel like Riley didn't exhaust his eligibility...

How are the athletic/training facilities at Sac St? If they can use some upgrades than I definitely say apply Hill's philosophy. Play the big boys and play 'em hard. They pay you to play with them. I'm sure Fresno St's facilities have improved or are improving with the paychecks they've received from the big six (BCS) teams they've played. In two weeks, SDSU will play Mich. Mich is paying SDSU slightly over $1 million, "...Michigan is part of a one-game contract in which SDSU will receive $1,016,800 from Michigan to play the Wolverines at Michigan Stadium." SDSU's athletic budget is $36 million. I'm certain that as a mid-major, Sac St's is a quarter to half less than that of SDSU's. Getting that kind money will most definitely help schools like Sac St, SDSU, SJSU, etc which are in a system that is deep in the red. Facilities go a long way w/ recruiting and add to a program's legitimacy. Does anyone how much Sac St is getting from OSU?

The article is about SDSU's game against WSU this Saturday and their record versus BCS teams. It mentions the financial positives of playing BCS schools.

PS I'm not saying sell-out. But if they pay-to-play with them, then why not play them. Not only will the program gain financially, they will gain experience against supposed "quality" programs.

GCM, I thought I read somewhere that the Mountain Lions paid for half of the turf and installation and that Sac State paid for half of the turf in Budget year 2010/11.

That would make the 425K check from OSU a current year reduction in expenses. Who knows with all this number juggling....

Our training facility is only a couple of years old and from what I've heard, maybe the best in the Big Sky.

I noticed that Weber State had two body bag games this year. I have to assume it's an attempt to raise extra money for the program quickly. Not sure if they're going to keep doing 2 games a year like this, but I'm keeping an eye on it. It appears they're sacrificing their teams schedule today for something big in the future. Sac State is trying to build a winning program to generate the money to do something in the future. Weber has had good teams in the recent past, so I think they're further down the road than we are.

I know I keep hijacking this thread, but for nostalgia purposes I just purchased this bad boy from amazon.com for $0.01 (yes, one cent). Shipping was $3...

This was the last NCAA football game to include Sac State (without having to build them from scratch). It was great, you could build up their prestige, recruit, get invited to bigger conferences. FUN!

Weber State has played 2 bodybag games for the last 4 years,

2008 @ Hawaii, @ Utah
2009 @ Wyoming, @ Colorado State
2010 @ Boston College, @ Texas Tech
2011 @ Wyoming, @ Utah State

and will continue to do so for the next few years

2012 @ BYU, @ Fresno State
2013 @ Utah State, @ Utah
2014 @ Arizona State, (and most likey another)

I dont like it, but we are getting good money and we have added quite a few really nice upgrades to both Stewart Stadium and the Dee.

I read that future FBS money would be paid to satisfy the turf balance.

I am still trying to figure out where the $25M went that Gonzo has socked away.

The BAF looks sweet and fairly state-of-the-art.
