As unpopular as it may be.....with all the criticism heaped on him, I agree with your statement regarding Coach Downing. As I have posted previously, character is a huge missing ingredient in this program right now.
I guess the saying is true.....you dont know what you' ve got till it's gone. Out durex no good to put out"what ifs" at this point in time, but Jay s name is exclusively on this hire. As I have said before, this staff does less coaching, and moire pointless belittling of players....thats a big sign of inexperience.
O think we really missed the boat on some potential hires......but itt is what it is'..we need to be supportive at this point. I firmly believe that this staff, and a group of seniors recruited by Downing . Lets face it..... Players play despite inerrpt coaching. I just hope this group pf coaches of able to overcome their ignorance and stupidity. And by that I refer to their handling of kids. As I said in another post, before the CSU game lady season, collins talked about playing"mind games" with the players.
It's time to knock that shit off and coach. Leadership comes from the front of the pack
All that being said, go bears outplay the pathetic bs that the coaches are laying down.

Place is a revolving door at this point, toxic situation. Kay Daltons been in the building tutoring the offensive "coaches" some new d-line assistant who was a previous volunteer and a first year GA is in one of the most if not the most important positions on the field in OL. Im sure Jay loves seeing his previously excused coach come back only to educate the current Jay hires on payroll. Just gets better and better! Fortunately for these guys they have some talent from previously recruited years and did last year as well better than 0-11 talent for sure. I dont know if they heard me ZERO WINS... these guys come in who are new faces to kids who are tired of loosing after being close to winning big and having coach after coach after coach with some new BS approach. When does the maddness end?!! AND you have to deal with the "can I trust you" BS and oh ya do terrific in school, sheesh! Then you got the little miniture one running around the sideline in his pink under armour messing up the signals but wants to look important - its embarassing to see that shit on TV man, im embarassed for the kids and for Collins cause I think hes trying. Grables been there forever I cant imagine what he thinks, lol. Anyway it is what it is lets see the players loose a couple and get tossed under the proverbial bus and the "lack of talent" "non buying in" excuses flow. :ohno:

That's Terrance Robinson (the short one, wearing pink). I believe he was wearing that because it was breast-cancer awareness. I don't mind it if the offensive coaches are being tutored. I'm sure that happens in a lot of programs. It is ironic that Dalton is doing it though. Does he even talk to Hinrichs? How do you know all this info Klondike?

I do agree that this is one of the most talented teams the Bears have had in recent years and anything less than a winning season will be a disappointment. If that doesn't happen, Collins should be out.

Breast cancer awareness? He's also a coach, maybe he should wear a helmet with a visor on game day too!!! Not excusing that one beardown. As far as tutoring goes I may not know what coaches do for improvement or whatever all I know is csu isn't brining in Steve Fairchild to talk about head coaching to their new coach. Some things shouldn't be accepted as the norm especially under those circumstances. As far as how I know information I read on this blog about the new Oline coach from buffalo and the newer guy I heard about from a few folks closer to the team and generally follow the team year to year so nothing is that hard to piece together.

Just playing devils advocate here - this coaching staff barely had time with the team last year because of how late they were hired. I do think some were bad hires, no doubt.

I'm just bringing things up that others have. Chip is really in a world of hurt here. He and his staff DO have integrity issues. One of which is the zero tolerance with language. I recall seeing him get pissed off at one of his players for cursing in practice, and the team had to run extra laps because this kid used a swear word. Five minutes later, I heard some of his staff curse. Then there's the UND game where he totally berated Lobato on the sideline and dropped the F-bomb several times. I know everyone makes mistakes, but you can't ask your players to do something your not willing to do yourself. No wonder they won't play for him. Then there's parents of players and others saying he lied to the players about Joe being fired. Then there's the issue of white kids not playing skill position, etc. No matter who he brings in or recruits, if the players don't believe in him, we won't win again until he's gone. On the surface I like Chip a lot, he's a UNC guy, etc. BUT you can't ignore some of the comments that people make on this board. C'mon, we should be discussing these things as spring camp is just a few weeks away!

Thank you for bringing everything up again. You must be close to a source as I am. Some people on here must only surround themselves with UNC Admin who are all hail new coach. Collins has made several bad decisions both on and off the field. I will not let go how he has lied to his athletes and then I hear from my son about how the "N" word is not tolerated, which is fine, but then he goes upstairs near the coaches offices and hears his coaches saying the "N" word left and right, what the heck!! I agree it should not be used, but if you are going to have a rule and be very strict by it, then don't use it.
I honestly feel if they would have given Downing another year or two the team would have been great. Downing's last year so many of the games they lost were only lost by a few points, they were so close. Maybe Downing may not have been the perfect coach, but he was still working on getting better and better assistant coaches and he had his team's respect!

I still don't understand why your son, or anyone else who doesn't respect Collins, won't transfer to another program. If they aren't going to give everything they have to the program and the coaches, they're only hurting themselves and we aren't going to win any games.

My son is dedicated to UNC Football, that was his choice to go there and he is dedicated to it 100%. Besides he is not just a football player, he is a student enrolled in a very good university and why should he sacrifice he schooling because a coach came in that doesn't respect his players. My son is not the only one who feels the way he does, a lot of the boys do, but they are teammates that will support each other 100% no matter who or what happens.
By the way, I love the article in the Greeley Tribune about how much praise Collins is giving this new strength coach. Too bad according to current football players, their weight totals have NOT increased, in fact has decreased. I look forward to watching all of our boys play this spring (I say all of our boys because they are all our kids, it doesn't matter who you are, if you are a fan or family member you respect, honor, and cheer these young men on because we know in our hearts and talking to them that they are playing their hearts out and are dedicated to each other, they have been through it all together).
