When is Enough, Enough? Fire Collins - Free the Bears

I see possible wins against Sac State, and UC Davis. That will put us in 4 wins, but only 3 wins against FCS teams. I still don't see Dunn firing Collins. He has two years left on his contract, but he does have a release clause. It's just not happening.

You are right those are "possible wins", but then again we should have beaten Weber and we saw what happened there. Sac State had EWU on the ropes last week and let them up. I think we will beat Davis and finish 3-8. With a pathetic 12 wins in 5 years Collins walks. After all he keeps saying when its over, we will have had a good season. I don't know what he sees.

Dunn and Collins with their infinite ignorance would probably consider 4 wins an improvement. They would then come out and announce that things are on the right track and the program is on an upward trajectory.

Unfortunately, I believe Beardown is right. Dunn will not fire Collins during the season and probably won't do it when the season is over despite all the evidence pointing to the fact that this staff isn't fit to coach a high school team.

I just don't understand how our AD can sit back and think this is OK. These past seasons have pissed me off watching this team flounder. Losing attitude breeds failure, and the football program reeks of it. That's what's holding us back, no one in the program seems to give a damn and its frustrating.

Because to him, W/L aren't the only thing in life. It's getting kids graduated and making sure they're not in jail.

Then why even bother with a football team? People graduate and not go to jail all the time. Funny story, there are a lot of schools that graduate their players and not send them to prison and win some games.
Hell, if we wanted to see more kids graduate we could shutter the program and use the money on academic facilities and programs to keep more kids out of jail and graduating.

I DID. Didnt get a response of course.

One of two things happen on Saturday . If we win Collins lives another day. If we lose this board and the AD 's phone are going to light up like never before ! Or am I nuts ?

Those are best case scenarios. The worst case scenario is we lose and nobody cares and because nobody cares, the A.D. keeps him.

I seriously doubt Dunn will fire Collins even if we lose by 10 TDs. That would be a courageous move. I do see Collins firing Boyer if we lose. Collins needs a scapegoat to take the blame for his failures, because he can't admit he was wrong. During both of their press conferences they were pointing fingers at everyone, except themselves. Boyer even wanted to blame the referees for stalling two drives. What a joke. A courageous leader always accepts blame and shields his people.

Dunn won't do anything, he's a marketing guy that has never worn a jock in his life... We're doomed at this point.

Let's be honest UNC as an institution needs a complete leadership reboot from the top down, Monfort... the president who's name I can't even remember she's so worthless and all the way through the athletic department.

As an alum I've never had any less reason to care about UNC athletics or otherwise. They have failed us, zero reason to care, I'm mailing it in at this point just to mirror what the football team does every week.

If he were a true marketing guy, he would understand the benefit of a strong athletic, especially football program. Winning football programs bring in massive amounts of donor dollars along with attracting attention to the Universities. Schools actually see increase in enrollment across the board, not just with athletic students, when they have winning seasons, especially with championship seasons. Dunn obviously skipped this in school, and has failed to follow up with any type of education in this department. UNC, Norton, Dunn, Monfort, the whole lot of them, are all missing out by allowing a subpar coach and subpar staff to continue in their employment year after year. This harms the entire University, the professors, the student body as a whole and the athletic department. This football program serves much more than providing an education to the 100 or so athletes who participate on the team as well as entertainment to the fans who support them. One day, those in charge will wise up and truly understand how they have sold the entire community short by allowing this to continue for as long as it has.

It's amazing how similar this is to the Scott Downing saga.

I was thinking that too, Downing would do just enough, the bare minimum to not get fired for what seemed like years. It's starting to play out that way with Collins now too, do just barely enough to not get fired and hang on for at least one more disappointing year.

Good point bearfan2015. I have read that studies show that a schools football program is The Front Porch of the University and right now our porch is crumbling and in dire need of repair ! A good sound front porch helps the entire University ! We need a good contractor now !

Ive refrained from posting for about a month because I just do not support the Bears, the coaches, or Dunn.

FIRE THIS IDIOT OF A HEAD COACH - get rid of the damn cancer.

Things have only gotten worse and things will only continue to get worse with this idiot thinking he knows how to coach a team. FIRE HIM!

I just had a call from UNC the other day, maybe you got one also if you contributed to UNC. A student athlete made the call thanking me for being a donor and asked if I follow UNC athletics. I told him that I do indeed and that I was unhappy with the direction of the football team. I mentioned that as I watch the football games on the Internet and I notice that there are hardly any students in the student section of the stands. He told me that the students don't really get excited about the football games anymore. I told him that they need a new coach and he said that there are a lot of people that say the same thing. It is so sad that the students of the school can't even support this mess and are missing out on the fun of going to one of their schools' fun activities. It's these activities that gave me fond memories of my days at UNC and probably why I am a donor today.

I get these calls all the time and I stopped answering. Yes, I know that's terrible and I now have no right to complain, yadda, yadda, yadda, but at some point it has to be a two way street. My interest has just waned with year after year of disappointing performance with what seems like zero desire to do better. If they settle for being doormats it's just something I can't get motivated to support financially... Terrible I know but I contributed in the past when I had some faith in the leadership but the current regime hasn't shown me enough to believe in them.
