Who starts at QB?

bigdog101 said:
AT spring game Howland hit short and deep balls hence 206 yds of passing
10 of 12, and for the few who deny Howland preformance as I mentioned in a initial
posting rolled left evaded a sack rolled right stepped up 5 yds threw a strike for
+ yds know as a pass recepton you say you were at game you're full of denial
and like i said it just a pouplarity poll, competing for starter puts Howland on the first team you all are liars and full of it, White a pocket qb, not run and shoot qb,

Oh he sure did hit on deep balls , and when you say he couldn't hit at practice
you shou;d realize Coach Davis knows the situation and the need for recievers,
which I'll bet you'll see at fall practice during summer break, the need for recievers
is what needed and Joesph from colorado couldn't be a friend of White, oh
former teammate, like i said, you boys ned to open those eyes and step up to the plate
with facts what you saw at practice, Glanville and Davis were there, read the articles
and their comments
And they know it, there looking for recievers WR, Howland is a point on QB,
throws a strong pass (spiral) stick to your opinions I'll stick to the facts boys,
he play in 2 college games N.colorado, Cal, look at the stats,
you over look the fact even after the Cal injury, Howland preformance at sring game
was stellar, play on a ACL injury he has guts you boys never will know
all these comments on White a pure sepculation plain and simple along with
this popularity poll, stick with the popularity poll boys it keeps you from enbarrassing
your selves, just talking White up doesn't gaurantee nothing, it all about competion
competion competion competion competion , Howland completed 10 of 12 206,
respect that ,deny the thruth all you what, Competion wait for noone, and
your comments even to deny Howland preformance Sprng game you
proved in this forum, Fall practice on it way , I'll stick to my guidelines, and
respect the Competion in Howland it sure beats this popularity poll,
and he hold the thuth in himself, you cant deny that you cant deny his talent and you cant deny who he is as a student athelete , this poll began as a pouplarity contest posted the same,
you never supoort the opinion of other members, hypocryte and a liar,
thats what you all did, you full of contempt, just admit you're frinds with White
i know the answer, you don't talk competion and you just got a empty playbook
what you saw, what you think, all friends of White
Hey make the the poll friends of White, thats the truth .
deny that boys. just keep the rheteric going it fuels a QB who competing
and gets amped when he reads this forum, I know I would, competion boys

White has played in a bowl game /users/31/07/37/smiles/537744.gif Please quit your comments about other members, you have been warned.

I don't think that you can try to even get close to naming a starter. The fact that there are endless errors being made by each of them, the OL, the WR, the RB's, The kids all need alot of work at this offense. We will all find out soon enough. If you feel the great need to speculate, do so. No one can win the QB job on a message board, we are all just fans of PSU.

Go viks.

White played and took snaps in bowl game, shouldn't have had a problem with problem with oregon game d-1a ball , we were told he never took a snap which made him eleigable for transfer to PSU, good thing it said he never took a snap, sound like he did, uh oh! article in oregonion said had he took a snap research time boys!
look in to it asap! took snap makes him ineligable, need to look in to it .

10 of 17 passing effiiency for White 53.3%- spring game

10 of 12 passing effiency for Howland 83.3% spring
deny those numbers boys, try it, stats are official even iin a spring game
thanks boys !

Do you know who Tyler Graunke is? He is the backup QB for Hawaii, coming into the 2005 season tyler was supposedly better then Colt Brennan in every category, Even the coahces were saying he may start, just like how MD thinks Howland will start.......Graunke is now a backup behind star QB Colt Brennan who robbed the position from him and gained fame from it. Howland may be good but the stats can be deceiving in this offense, in the end the most talented QB will play.

I do not know Brian White, and I back up the opinions of other members all the time. Have you read any other threads? I don't have any issues with anybody who posts on here. We are all PSU fans.

My comments about White stem from games he played in last year, as well as practice and the spring game. You are taking all your comments from spring game stats, and newspaper interviews. I'm not saying you don't have the right to your opinion, but there is no reason to think we all want White because we're friends with him. Please give us the same respect we give you.

Non was given and non will be given you didn't respect my facts and when you use words like speculate you decieve yourselfs, i would express in the future stats tell one
side of the game the other is ones preformance, and to insinuaute, you back the opinions of others don't you have a view of your own, i gave you my summary
and was given no respect and a forun that is a base for fans to subscrite to the notion that
one read or summary or report is a dart board to sling accusation and hyperboly
you have not given any facts on White just words of support, like i said this just a
popularity contest , data or stats are a basis of competion, the other is the coaches
read that who has a grasp of the offense, Mouse Davis own words expresses
his professional read on the run and shoot, read articles related to viking football up to this point, he said and i quote Ty Howland is solid and coinfident, reads better
their words not mine, here are my words, Howland has the stronger arm,
reads the D better, even playing on a rehabilitating knee, he still competed
10 out of 12 passes 206 yds spring game, 83% pass effiencency, fall ball is on it way,
I'll leave you with these words, don't underestimate a athelete, colt brandon,
and hawaii not relative to this forum, stick to the subject, who going to be the next Qb
I stated originally wait till half way through fall practice, got bull rushed, you all
have no guidelines on discussion boards, discuss the facts not personel emotion,
facts and stats = a basis of competion, not a complete picture, run and shoot as Mouse Davis explains best preformed on game day it moves 100 mph, and no looking back,
4 wide outs one in the slot means intense options for a QB not one window, 2 or 3
windows, run the option shoot is an option, depends how the D sets up, glanville says we'll be were they aint , wideopen and rolling, 100mph, ring it up, football
Davis words Glanville words, here are mine
good luck with this forum and here hoping somebody with some sport knowledge chimes in, summer break also well tell who displined and ready for fall ball,
you gave no respect non given back, you say respect this, you gave non form the get go
I'll stick to my friends in pro soprts who ccomperhend, ain't happening here
there head of scouting they understand my words same language, same page,
Howland has a solid base, physically stronger, mentally tough, football smart,
field presence, he gets it plain and simple, a natural athlete , can't teach it period!
can't look it up either! won't find on the web,
have awesome summer be good to yourselfs and GO VIKS
GET ON BOARD THE VIKING EXPRESS youre gonna love it!

It's a good position to be in - two excellent qb's vying for the starting position.Last edited by on 2007-06-18, 10:05

If White is training mostly against the first string and Howland mostly against the second string, this whole discussion is moot. Having your timing down against the big dogs matters more than performance with less pressure.

I know of no easier away to ask people to NOT respect you.

I had no intention of angering him. This is a forum where fans express their views. I don't know why he has such a problem with debate. This is a PSU board, not a Howland fan club.

If Howland is better, and plays better against top competition, by all means start him. However, I don't believe that to be the case.

You have see the pressure coming to like strong side weak side pressure, you can be set
bull rush or blitz , timing a second condition, first condition adjust to pressure,
Howland showed that spring game, weren't you watching boys, got in the clear
threw strike, dual threat Qb run and shoot baby, mobility rquired, roll or fade,
pitch or shuttle, run or poooch it, thats football, run and shoot 100mph baby.

Besides the 27 grammatical errors with your post there's a lot more wrong with it -- Howland played mostly if not all with the 2nd unit during the spring game. Let him do the same with the 1st unit then there's an argument.

Let's put this in another, more political context.

Some coaches feel the need to groom rather than compete. If one QB is facing the first-team defense most of the time, I highly doubt they will change course unless something drastic happens.

I don't pretend to know this coaching staff's tendency on that count. Time spent is often as important as performance. I know this happens elsewhere, and I know there's competing philosophies on the subject, since some coaches feel they need to know what plays will be designed for whom prior to fall. Question as related to this case: was there more "mix" earlier or later in training?

Speaking of political context: I've also seen where a one or more people seek to build one player's reputation, sometimes at another's expense, sometimes at the coach's expense... sometimes when they know that player isn't exactly favored. Many times, it goes away... sometimes, it festers into something that divides the fanbase. I'm not sure we haven't seen parents cross the line at Colorado or at Arkansas in the last few months. I take a dim view of this, so I get suspicious when these kinds of posts appear. That does have to be tempered with the knowledge that, sometimes, the coach will make a mistake regarding who to groom. This ain't easy, to say the least... but this is where I value the number of eyes probably more than one person's crusade.

I posted this earlier on How mouse and jerry treating you but more appropriate here. I went to the 7 on 7 monday and since somewhat new in Portland had to ask people who was who. I thought that White and Collins looked very good, both were accurate and seemed to make good decisions. Not impressed with Howland he only completed very short passes and seemed to make bad decisions. The 2 freshman were just that and not near the level of the other three. This was only one night and just my opinion

its gotta be white, the way he played against montana and how he played in the spring game, and hes a senior, hes gotta be the starter with mcckintock in the backfield and mackins, kirkland and joseph out wide
