Who Will Host?

Now that the non conf is almost over, what do yall think? Who is lookin good goin into conference?

For now I would say PSU, UM, NAU, & UNC are lookin the best. Really though I guess we'll find out in January who is legit and who isn't.

I think the PSU/WSU games are gonna be interesting. Your new coach is doing very well in the 2+ years he's been there. His first year he went 2-0 vs WSU and then last year 0-3 vs WSU. More impressive to me than anything is that PSU won in Ogden Bone's first year. WSU usually is very good at home and 13-1 all-time at The Dee vs the Vik's. However, the 'Cats have struggled to get wins @ PSU over the last 4 years.

UM definately will be very tough games for everyone. They should have a couple first teamers this yr. The real question is whether or not our schools will be able to beat UNC and are they really this good! They already have more wins than all of last season. 4 wins last yr and 2 in conference. I think they beat Sac and NAU each once.

Does anyone think EWU has a chance to be good? They have played a lot of tough schools so even if they were good I think they'd still only have 3-4 wins. WSU had a good rivalry goin with EWU until Giacoletti took the Utah job. Since then it has faded. This yr is all about PSU & UM!

Hey and PSUVikings, thanks for creating the WSUFans forum! Sadly we probably still wouldn't have one if it wasn't for you!

NAU is looking really strong even though they lost Sir and Boykins Jr to graduation. I would put them as a frontrunner at this point.

UM seems to have some issues putting all of their talent together. Their home court advantage that they are usually known for is not what it used to be. They've dropped two straight at home, and I wouldn't be suprised if they drop two of the next three on the road. They could come in as a middle of the pack team given the way the look right now, but with the talent they have, they can get it going in a hurry.

UNC needs to win on the road to prove that they are legit in being in the running for a BSC title. It will be interesting to see how they play against UP and OSU in the next couple of weeks.

I don't think that EWU will be a factor this year. Too much change in the offseason.

How about you guys? I didn't expect a 2-6 even though you guys have played some tough teams.

True, NAU may be in it. I'm gonna go see em play either USU or UVSC in Logan, UT next weekend. I'll let u know what I see. They have another 3 pt shooter too, where do they find these guys? Unbelievable how good NAU has been from the Arc.

One thing that makes me wonder if EWU will become a good team again is their head coach earlywine. He was the brains of the coaching staff at wsu under cravens from 2000-2006 as far as I heard from the players.

Im excited to see if UNC can keep winnin! Hopefully they can keep it up for the sake of the conference.

WSU? I have no clue...the team has looked good in most stat columns in most games this yr minus turnovers. TO's will be the deciding factor for this year's team. Our average is like 19 p/game. Yikes!! If we can keep the TO's down, we have as good of a chance as anyone this yr.

This is trash. UM sucks cockkkkkkkkkkkk. God damnit. Probably wont even make the tourney playing like this

Question:

What do you think their record would be if Larry K had stayed instead of bolting for the NBA? It's too early to make an opinion, but this is the second year in a row where they are clearly one of the most talented squads in the BSC, but just aren't clicking.

With Montana losing 6 of last 7 games, i guess they might not be as legit but u really never know in the 'Sky.

MSU, PSU, & NAU seem to be playing well right now. I hate how you really can't judge a 'Sky team in the nonconf. Some of us beat a bunch of crap teams and look good or lose to a bunch of good teams or sometimes the team just doens't have it together until conf starts...

UM went to the tourney 3 times in five years and never even won the 'Sky. I'm more worried about MSU and NAU right now!

Weberwildcast,

Does WSU have a message board? I'm just asking, not saying your shouldn't post here. I would like to read what other conference fans think of PSU.

Also whatever happened to the Sac St board?

Ya, WSU's board is - http://wsufans.proboards49.com/index.cgi - it has a link to this board which is how I got here. WSU's and the Big Sky board have links to all the Big Sky schools boards.

UM's problems since Coach K (as Obie calls him) left sound a lot like PSU's (the men)...and like EWU last year.
You can have all the apparent talent in the world....but it takes a good coach to bring it all together and make it work.....even more so at the college level, I believe. A good coach develops the talent, mentors the players, prepares them, shows leadership, builds spirit and chemistry, communicates, and motivates.......what PSU (men, again) clearly doesn't have.

The flip side (of what our men's team is missing) can no better be exemplified than by what Sheri Murrell has done with the women's team this year. Just listen to the girls, and how much they love playing for her. I get the impression they'd do anythiing for her, and just love her approach, honesty, spirit and coaching.

My favorite subject, who wil host.

So, PSU is on top in first place, everyone seems to be beating each other there is no one stand out team this year much like last season. I think the only teams with no chance are Sac & EWU.

As for hosting I think it's out of PSU/NAU/WSU and maybe even ISU, y not?

Between PSU/NAU/WSU/ISU:

ISU: 2-2
NAU: 1-2
PSU: 2-2
WSU: 2-2

I like to think PSU has a slight edge in that WSU and ISU still have to come to Portland.

yes...and i've been worried about the fact that my team needs to go to psu and nau, yikes!! And we really needed to pull a psu and win at isu, too bad we lost.

ya it was really lame having a close game with them and then losing after the ref called a tech on our player after the isu 'tard tried to elbow him in the face.

the ref was inbetween them and probably assumed our guy was fighting too, then again that is typical big sky officiating.

i hope wsu play's the bengals in the semi's this yr and not psu or nau!!!

It's looking like we may see a 4 way tie in first place at the end of the week - 7-3.

I have faith in PSU to get two road wins this week. Fans of other schools might not appreciate how Bone's new shortened rotation is helping PSU. Granted, it is partially forced upon him due to injuries, but playing better players more minutes (a crazy concept, I know) is making PSU a better team now than they were at the start of conference play.

I wont be surprised if you do win both, NAU is pretty week at home. But also the game will be at 7,000 feet.

A shortened rotation may not be possible playing at 7,000 feet. I am panting for breath just thinking about it.
