Wildcat Radio

Congrats to Weber and to the new announcers. Its a major upgrade for basketball from my perspective. And for football all they need now is to get the color commentator under control. Far too wordy and detailed and quite often not correct. Just taking too much time. Weber athletic department, thanks for the upgrade...

I liked Carl, he was a Homer but that didn't bother me. He was an upgrade 18 years ago and has been the voice of the Wildcats for a long time. Thanks Carl and good luck with your new job opportunity. I also have enjoyed Steve's call when he has filled in for Carl, so I think this is a great hire.

Congrats Karl on your new position and upgraded career move. Also congrats to the new Weber State announcers. I loved listening to Karl since returning from Korea ten years ago and Steve on nights Karl couldn't announce the games. All smiles for both!!! :thumb:

I didn't hate Arky, I thought he did an acceptable job. Good luck to him. I really like the new hires. I've always enjoyed Klauke. We'll see how Patten does but the best part about it is that there'll be no more Dutch. Dutch, you're a solid guy, but horrible on the radio.

+1000....AMEN BROTHER

I haven't heard where he is going. However, I saw him at the football game last night. He looked happy and so did every one around him. He is a good person, and I wish him all the best. He has been a part of our community for a long time. He will be missed. :notworthy: :notworthy:

Thank you Carl. I may actually miss the hot lava flowing through Pompey. I am so happy to hear that Patten will be on color commentary. This is exactly what we have needed. It is especially crucial since we are making the jump to KJZZ.

I've always been a fan of Arky, and I've definitely appreciated his hard work and broadcasts. He will be missed! However, change is inevitable and this seems like a good move. I especially like the idea of having Patten doing color commentary. Now, if the department could work out the constant "technical" difficulties our areas keep experiencing and could produce a decent Watch Big Sky production.

Heard that there wasn't any video again on Saturday night? THIS IS AN ISSUE JERRY!! GET IT FIXED. It is embarrassing to the university.

It does not appear to be a Weber State issue, and it's definitely not the fault of anyone in athletics The video fed to Eversport that we can see on a test server is fine. Lots of man hours have been devoted to trying to fix this, and they're still working on it. No need for the e-yelling. We do and should take responsibility for the things we can control, but this does not appear to be one of them.

Interesting because the ND forum members said they contacted Eversport and they blamed the lack of a video feed on WSU problem. http://forum.siouxsports.com/topic/20885-weber-game-thread/?page=6

The conference office also thought it was an issue on our end until Jon Kasper came to the game Saturday and saw that it isn't the case. We've purchased brand new equipment that Eversport said we needed, issue not fixed. We've worked with IT to give full access to the network to see if it was a firewall issue, issue not fixed. And, again, the test server feed is fine. Something is happening from the point where it reaches Eversport's content delivery network to when it is played on Eversport's website.

Someone from Eversport is coming out this week, I believe, to try and figure it out. It *should* work for the remaining two football games, as well as volleyball, basketball, and softball going forward.

I'm no expert, but it's 2015 and I didn't think it was that difficult to stream a simple video on the internet. Why did the conference switch providers anyway? It hasn't resulted in a better product. Also, why doesn't the 1430 radio feed work during games? Very frustrating when fans in other parts of the world can't follow the games. And another thing, I didn't attend the game Saturday as I was out of town, but did the sound system at the stadium finally get fixed, three games into the season? This all feels very amateur to me. :wall:

The webstream is also a known issue that we've discussed with KLO multiple times. Their webstream for all programming had not been working, but it did work for them during the week. Then, on game day, it stopped again. It was working sporadically if you listened long enough, but definitely not what we want.

I appreciate you following the forum and at least acknowledging some of our concerns. We bitch and moan a lot but we really only want athletics to improve. My question is, do these concerns make it to the people who are responsible for these things?

Is it that hard for anyone in athletics to say, "We are sorry fans! We are doing everything in our power to get the problem fixed. We don't think it is on our end. But we know it has been very frustrating for you to follow your team"?

At least say, "Our TV feed is young and inexperienced, but we are going to keep scratching and clawing and will have things up and running by the next home game".

I know we complain, but there are some issues right now.

There are many malfunctioning systems at the football games right now. Some of these malfunctions have been unresolved for the past several years. It isn't a matter of athletics not reporting the problem to the right people to get them fixed. It's a matter of the 'right' people being incompetent to make the repairs needed. Even when they have purchased new systems, the old maintenance crews are not able to maintain them. If something is broken, you can just count on it staying that way. Most fans don't really notice all of the problems. I'm not trying to pass the buck from athletics, but I know that malfunctioning systems have been reported over and over, while nothing gets repaired. The response I have received is: 'We had someone look at it and they couldn't find the problem'. Meanwhile, the malfunction persists game after game. There seems to be a real lack of technical support at WSU. WSU needs to take it more seriously. :wall:
