Will the Eags HOST the Big Sky Tourney....

Your fans were yelling racial insults at 2 Euro EWU players. Both players came out and spoke about it, and stated its just something you deal with when playing in Montana.

Where did they state this? I was at the game (like I am for all games) and surely didn't hear racial insults being yelled at the Euro EWU players.

If they came out and spoke about it, was it on twitter, in an article or somewhere else?

If Eastern doesn't host, I actually hope Sac does. Nothing against the Griz, but if they host, that gym will be filled and it will definitely be a huge home court advantage. If Sac hosts in whatever that place is, it will probably be a better neutral court. Better chance for Eastern in Sac than Missoula, based on fan support alone...

Totally understandable. The Griz would draw a much much bigger crowd for sure.

We got our tournament ticket info in the mail and if we do host I'm going to be getting nothing done for that 3 day stretch. Will likely be there for every game. March Madness is almost here! The most unproductive month of the year for me. Can't wait :)

They spoke about it on Twitter and after the game Fred Jorg stated they were telling players to go back where they came from. And you are not wanted in America. Shit like that.

I found the tweet. He didn't say the fans were yelling racial insults at the 2 Euro EWU players but it does sound like a fan who must have been fairly close to the EWU bench said "Go back to Serbia, no one wants you here" which is totally unacceptable. I can honestly say I heard nothing like that but I don't sit too close to the opposing bench either. It's certainly not the mindset of most of the fans. Wont deny though that of course there will always be some bad eggs that need a slap upside the head.

I hope others in the area chewed the fan's ass who said that. Crap like that should result in a quick removal from the stadium in my opinion. The U of M has a ton of international students from all over the world attending including 4 on the Basketball roster (2 from Australia, 1 from Canada and 1 from Germany). That type of attitude certainly doesn't represent the majority of people at the U. Sorry that happened.

Yeah I understand that every fan base has outliers. And he did say what I said, I didn't claim to quote him to the T. He had more to say in a post game wrap up interview I heard. So did OG. Not sure if you can find that, but go at it.

Yep, completely unacceptable and way below UM standards. Unfortunately, every fanbase has 'em. I heard some terrible things being shouted at Bruenig too, and that was just on bstv.

If you understand that every fan base has outliers (Yes, EWU has outliers too), then there's no need to make a statement like the bold one below:

Well unlike you, we actually graduate and move to normal cities. Not growing roots in a college town for life. Can't wait to hear your uneducated hick fans yelling more racially driven insults at our Euro players! Missoula is such a great place!

That's like someone saying "every EWU fan is a..." and then generalizing the entire fan base.
