WK 1 Prediction Thread CWU 13 v EWU 58

I totally expect to see a blowout. When your season's slogan is "Leave No Doubt", you light up the scoreboard and punish the opponent. With the depth and talent all over the field, I'll say 51-14.
Dangerous thinking

Danger is my middle name.

Certainly respect what CWU has accomplished in the GNAC and think Reilly is better than Gubrud by a hair.

Overcoming the loss of the WR corps is going to be a HUGE hurdle for CWU and they have missed several practices due to the air quality. This data suggests this won't be a close game. I actually watched several CWU games last year (ROKU has a GNAC channel) and they lacked "heart". The talent level was excellent but they failed to close out games early and lost in the playoff's at home after being up over 3 TD's. They aren't going to shake that off.

Bagging on our defense makes sense but our secondary talent will handle CWU's air attack and with speed like Sise or Davis Jr to spy Reilly, there should be a VERY limited offensive showing. I can't read our coaches mind, if it was me, would keep it simple, make them run the ball and contain Reilly. He only threw for under 3K with an all senior WR corps.

They also have a new DC. Don't know anything about him but missing full practices can't help his cause.

Game is played on the field, balls bounce funny and I expect Eastern to pound CWU to dust. Bigger OL, better backs, senior leadership all over the field, the best WR corps in FCS, full year with Best and crew and solid D athletes. Won't be too disappointed if CWU shows up and makes plays to keep it close early, but this one shouldn't be close in the end of Eastern is the top tier team we believe it to be.

ok, after lucky's insight and pertinent info on CWU I'm changing my prediction to 48-17

If the score is close to this I hope Best "takes his foot off of the gas" and gives backups experience.

I get it, it's RH and everything, but Best in his 2nd season, isn't going to let a DII take him to the wire. Gage throws for 350+ if EB doesn't play. Eags win big 42-21!

Lets hope we play some games this year that backups get some pt due to the score and not just injuries.

I like the enthusiasm here!

I'm saying 48 - 31. CWU gets some garbage TDs late.

Eags rack up 200+ on the ground.

No way, I say NO WAY Central scores 31, our defense is out to make a statement this year.

I agree Great Day, I can see the Eagles rolling on O and when we rest some starters in the 4th qtr they may pick up a few points.
With that said I am still aware of an upset alert.

I'm hoping for a blowout, but I believe Central is going to play out of their minds. I remember when reporters would ask Baldwin why we could stick with Pac 12 teams, and one of his reasons was that the players felt disrespected that they didn't get offers, or chances, with Pac 12 teams. I can see Central players with this mentality.

I'll go 48-34 Eastern.

Expect they will get the whole picture on Saturday. This one isn't close.

Nice breakdown on the game from CWU's perspective:

Woldcats Roster:

They've got SIX qb's listed... SIX. Really liked the Canon Racanelli kid last year winning a championship.
