Wk 6 Prediction Thread Cal Poly 41 @ EWU 42

My predictions have not been very accurate this season but I'll keep guessing  .
Hopefully the bye week has allowed our guys to charge their batteries and the team is ready to play to their potential. If that happens we should win by more than 10. If they are over confident and not playing with their heads as much as their bodies, less than 10, still a win but closer than it needs to be. I'd love to see us come out and "punch 'em in the mouth" and take charge of the game. Too often we let the other team hang around as they gain confidence and we have a battle on our hands.
At this time the weather forecast is for 19-22 mph winds throughout the game. This has the potential to affect our passing game more than their option running game.

Yup. No one has been spot on this season. Keep thinking the TE's will get more in the game, but that hasn't transpired. Good call on the weather, could be a concern. Maybe that gets the TE's more in the game :ohno: .

Is it saturday yet?

So far as the winds... we haven't successfully converted a FG yet this year, and since it looks like it will include an extra degree of difficulty this weekend, it looks unlikely to change.

Therefore, I'll predict we make 3 field goals including one of 50+ yards! 8-)

It appears that we'll be without both starting offensive tackles. That's concerning, since our backups there haven't looked great. This is most likely a much closer game than many of you are predicting, and probably lower scoring as well.

EWU 31-24

With Hennessey back, will he see any PT other than mop up if that happens?

Huh? Like Hennessey as the backup; West is the starter and should be on the field for every play under center IMO. Not even sure "mop up" time is in order unless Eag's are up by 28 and effectively running the ball for first downs to finish the game (not a fan of throwing when up this big, but running over them is OK :D ). As this is the prediction thread; West throws for 400+ 4 TD's and a rating over 200.

On another note and in an effort to get Terence Grady over the hump, he doesn't have a personal foul, holding call, fumble after catch or 3rd down drop this week.

Team left it all on the field. Great win for a myriad of reasons. Thought the defense was starting to step up a bit, multiple 3 and outs for the Eag offense made the defenses job tougher. Using the ESPN euphemism "eye test", Eastern looked like a good mid major against an FCS team.

Still wondering if there was any reason this game was close?

Those who thought the game would be close, were right? Don't think it was for the reason they listed, i.e. ball control by CP; more like lack of control by Eag offense. Anyone concerned?

No concerns here.....happy to get a win outta the deal. I think everything in the game played into CP's hands. We couldn't stop the run, had to respect the cut block and played our Dline a yard off the ball. We gave them a lot of 2nd and 3-5's which makes it tough on the D. In the first half, our lack of being able to throw the ball in the wind allowed them to crowd the line and slow down the run. They boxed out Coop with 2 or more players. We tried to get others involved but again, I feel the wind really effected the throws. I think we will be just fine, and this close win will make us better prepared later on in the season.

Wasn't able to attend this game (I hate missing games) due to my best friend's wedding but was following it on my phone the whole time. Gutsy win by the team. I love that about Beau's teams, you never count them out, especially on the red. I know we'd all love to see us control games the entire time and win comfortably but I do think winning games like this does more for the team. It's a confidence booster that no matter what, this team will believe they can win even when it's dire straights.

Remember, the 2010 season? We pulled games out of our ass numerous times to get to Frisco; 2013 where we pulled out probably the most inconceivable win against Portland State (ironically, that score was 42-41) to go 8-0 in BSC. Montana St. last year...

As long as Beau and Co. are in charge, the game isn't over until 0:00.

Great post, and I agree. I need to try to remember this more. We have won so many games in similar fashion that you almost expect to lose one of them at some point. Win or lose, Baldwin's Eagles never quit.

Big difference when you play for a program that has a long history of pulling games out and you know you're going to win vs you think you can win.

Opposing Coaches tend to make poor decisions (going for it on 4th instead of kicking FGs). Stupid penalties (Defensive holding on two pt conversion). It happens one time, it's luck. It happens over and over it's an expectation of winning no matter the deficit.

We've all seen comebacks like this and it's why the rest of the BSC looks at the EWU game on their schedule as their game of the year. EWU gets every team's best shot which can result in being down.

Think how Mont State feels about playing EWU based on the past two seasons.

The flip side is EWU players believe they will when regardless of the opponent or the score.

I remember the 2012 Semi game vs Sam Hou. Down 35-3 at the half I couldn't believe how fired up the players were after halftime. Once EWU started to make the comeback, you see the SH sideline lose all their confidence and wonder what the heck was going on.

Not a coincidence, look at NDSU last week. UNI had them dead to rights yet NDSU kept playing with the expectation they would pull it out. Low and behold, UNI misses a FG that would've out the game away.

You establish a winning tradition it becomes contagious.

Hope we all appreciate the level that Coach B has taken this program to.
