Wk5 Prediction Thread EWU 34 @ Montana State 17 WINNER!!

Over half the thread had Eag's in the 30's and most of us had Cat's scoring into the 20's, so GREAT JOB everyone! Participation trophies for everyone ;) ;)

Going low, but Eastern makes this a no doubter throughout the contest.

Eags are a very good team where they don't play at their highest level and shut a team down on the road. Go Eags!

Well, I wasn’t able to watch this game, I was out of town and it’ll be the only game I wasn’t able to actually watch this year.

Played out about as I expected. Sounds like the Cats shot themselves in the foot on more than one occasion. Could have and should have been a little closer, not saying that it cost them the game, just could have been a bit closer.

If it wasn’t for a dumb penalty on the Cats that negated a TD, it looks like I would have had the score predicted almost exactly. I haven’t actually seen that play or penalty, just read about it.

Good luck the rest of the season, I don’t see any other BSC team knocking you off.
I’m still optimistic the Cats can get to 7-4 or 8-3 if they get some stuff figured out and sneak into the playoffs. Once there they MAY win a game, but I don’t see them making a big run, not this year anyway. Beyond that I’ll be rooting for EWU to do something in the playoffs. We need the Big Sky teams to represent well in the playoffs again and I think EWU has a very good chance of doing just that this year.

With all due respect, this game was never going to be close. When the Eagles held 'cats to a FG in the first qtr I said to my wife "thats it" we win. She said how do you know that? I responded we just the best they have to offer and it was a field goal. I do not say that with any disrespect just the facts as I saw them. There was no way we would lose that game. I hope your coaches come up with a better plan to get the most out of Troy so you go beat the Griz.
Good luck the rest of the season

Fair enough, small difference in opinion, but it’s kind of splitting hairs at this point. And as I’ve said, I haven’t actually been able to watch the game as I’m still out of town. Probably check it out on a replay this week. So I’m just going off of what I was able to follow on the ESPN app on my phone and what I’ve read and heard about the game.

I know it didn’t cause them to lose the game but I do feel like if the team didn’t have that dumb (and by dumb I mean on the players/teams end, not blaming refs here)penalty in the 3rd qtr, who knows where it would have gone from there. It was 27-10, so that would have made it 27-17 with a decent amount of time left in the game. The Cats then miss a FG (his first miss of the season) and then EWU scores on the next possession, effectively ending the game.

Under this coaching staff, the Cats have consistently outplayed their opponents in the second half, so there would have been hope at that point, kind of sounds like the penalty followed by the missed FG was a punch to the gut and it was over after that.

Oh well, a lot to work on for the Cats. Good luck the rest of the way.
