I talked to AD Jerry Graybeal. He said right now Coach Rahe is in the works of scheduling 2 big games for next season. Not sure if that is including the UCLA game (which will be the first of next seaon) or not?

I'll post another message when I here something!

That is ill!!

Speaking of next season, I think we will have some trouble with SUU but I think we will soundly beat UVSC, BYU, UofU, and USU!!!

We will win back-to-back Big Sky Championships as well! Go 'Cats! I would like to here even 1 good reason why we wont?

I'm going to assume that you were joking when you posted that Weber State would beat Utah State, Utah, and BYU-Provo next year. If you weren't joking, you haven't been paying much attention to what's been going on with college basketball in the state, who those 3 schools have signed, who they have returning, returning from missions, etc. Rahe's a good coach, and he has a good recruiting class, but you don't have the horses to compete with either USU, Utah, or BYU-Provo. All 3 of them will dominate you inside and out. The one game of the 4 that you will win is SUU. UVSC is always a mystery until the season starts because of how secretive Hunsaker is. I think you have a good shot at winning the Big Sky, but don't be disappointed if you don't because Rahe has a couple of guys sitting out to qualify next year, that, along with this year's recruiting class, should make you the heavy favorite in 08/09.

I don't think what wsucatfan said was that far fetched if you look at it realistically. Weber plays both USU and Utah at home next season and I think you'll have a loud DEC with a lot of revengeful Weber fans. They both be tough games and will more than likely go down to the wire as all games do against in state teams at The Dee. But I think Weber has good chance to check them both off as wins. BYU-Provo on the other hand lost some key players and will be hard pressed to replace them for next season, especial Keena Young who was the main stay in their offense. However, it will be hard for Weber to go down their and win, but to say that they won't win any is foolish.

Your talent doesn't compare. The level of talent in the Big Sky has been going down constantly over the last few years as evidenced by the rpi rating of the Big Sky conference. Last year was Utah's weakest team in years and they still handled your Big Sky championship team with no problem. Last year was USU's weakest team since Morrill's first team almost 10 years ago, and they beat you twice handily. Once on a neutral court. Your team next year won't be as strong as this years, but Utah and USU will both be much, much better. No, I'm not being foolish. Foolish is looking at the players on the Weber roster compared to those on the rosters of BYU, Utah, and USU, and claiming that Weber is going to win all 3 games. Neither you, nor the original poster, have taken the time to even look at who Utah, BYU, or USU has on next year's roster.

If the the Big Sky is so bad than how come both ISU and Weber took BYU-Provo to over time last season, ISU did it in Provo (lol). They both played better against BYU-Provo than Air Force, Utah and USU did. Yes I will agree that BSC doesn't have the talent level of the other conferences but that doesn't mean you count them out. And frankly I could careless who these teams have coming in next season you can't teach experience. Also, you said Utah beat Weber handily and I will agree with that but if they were to play at the end of the season I think that that the out come would have been alot different; at that point in time Weber was still trying to find an identity.

I happen to like Rahe. I'm a USU fan, and was sad to see him go to Utah. I also think he's bringing in a great recruiting class for next year, but for the most part they're freshman and will take time to develop. USU on the other hand, is bringing in Gary Wilkinson from SLCC who's 6'9" 240 lb and is ready to play now. They have Brandon Bell, who redshirted last year after a freshman year at Ohio State, who is 6'9" 240 lb. They have a 6'10" 240 lb Africa kid coming in. They have a kid named Williams at SF who is incredibly athletic and who sat out last year. They have Tai Wesley and Tyler Newbold coming back from missions. They have their starting PG, starting PF, and Jaycee Carroll coming back. I just don't see you being able to match up with those players. However, I would like to see you beat Utah and BYU-Provo.

The players that Rahe has sitting out are Brumfield from Hutchinson JC and McLawhorn from Missouri West Plains JC.

I do agree that you would have given Utah a much better game at the end of the season. Because of better coaching, not better talent. However, the new Utah coach is not Giacoletti.

Bottom line and everybody listen especially SELDOMSEENSMITH. I live in Logan and I am familiar with USU as well as the other instate schools. WSU definately has a chance next yr since USU always has trouble on the road. If JC Carroll can some how be slowed down the Wildcats will have a chance, it is in Ogden after all.

USU will be the toughest instate opponent next season. BYU-Provo & Utah...please!! Dont let WSU's 6 game losing streak to USU & Utah fool you or the 4 game losing streak to the USU color stealers.

And as for seldomseensmith, I take you didn't make it to the WSU @ USU game this past season cuz WSU had the lead at half time and the Aggies barely won becuase of poor WSU free-throw shooting. Stew even said that word for word in the newspaper.

WEBER STATE RECORD VS INSTATE SCHOOLS:
All-Time Records vs In-State Schools
Team WSU vs Opponent In Ogden
Brigham Young 10-22 (10-6 at home)
Southern Utah 18-6 (14-2 at home)
Utah State 24-34 (14-13 at home)
Utah 12-23 (9-7 at home)
Utah Valley State 2-2 (2-0 at home)

WSU has beat USU 24 times. The first 2 times the Aggies played Weber was in 1971 & 1972 both in Logan and Weber schooled em both times!

*WSU has 24th highest winning percentage in NCAA Division I history
*WSU selected as the 51st greatest basketball program of all-time by Street and Smith Magazine

It's WAAAAAAAAY too early to be talking smack about next year's basketball season.

But, to add my 2 cents' worth, remember that our Wildcats were't even supposed to be in the Big Sky tourney in 2007.

Can anyone remember who hosted the tourney? Or who won it to advance to the Big Dance?

USU has beaten Weber State 5 straight, and 6 of the last 7. It leads the series 33-24. The reason the series is so close is because of the years that USU was languishing in the Big West. It's also due to the fact that the Big Sky had a good run with coaches like Abegglen and Howland. The fact is that the Big Sky is losing strength as a conference while USU is getting stronger in basketball because of joining the WACK. USU has 8 straight 20 win seasons and has made post season play for 8 straight years. Over the last 8 years USU has a 198-62 record, a 76.2 winning percentage. The 5th best in that time period behind Duke, Gonzaga, Kansas, and Illinois. The fact is that players who sign with the Big Sky are not recruited by WACK teams. There is no comparison between the 2 programs now, and if Weber wins next year it will be a huge upset.

Hey SELDOMSEENSMITH actually USU as beaten Weber 6 in a row & lead 34-24. The reason u claim it isn't more makes no sense this is the biggest lead USU has ever had. The series went back n forth from 1973 to the 1990's. check it out: www.wsubball.com/history.htm

USU has been doing extremely well as of late dont get me wrong I go to half of ur home games since I liive on Main St in Logan. Braggin about USU being in the post season 8 str8 its pretty cool but half of em were in the NIT which no one cares about.

Im just sayn dont think WSU is just a joke. WSU is one of the winningest programs of all-time. WSU did have a good run with Abegglen but also many other coaches. Howland actually was only in the 'Sky 5 years & couldn't beat WSU to save his life until he went to UCLA lol Ben rules WSU loves him though!!

Also the WACK isn't all that u think it is...Weber has a winning record overall against the WACK.

It does make sense. USU's basketball program is getting stronger while Weber's isn't. The WACK is a much stronger conference than the Big Sky. RPI is a generally accepted measure of strength in basketball. Last year the WACK was the 9th rated conference, the Big Sky the 24th rated conference. USU was 45th in RPI, Weber 143. The WACK had 6 teams with higher rpi's than the rpi of Weber. When USU was in the Big West, we may have been interested in some of the same players that you were. But now that we're in the WAC, we don't even look at the players that you sign. That's the reality of things. Even the Big West, who the Big Sky was even with a few years ago, has passed you by being the 16th rated conference according to rpi. Just because you won the weak Big Sky last year, don't let it go to your head. You lost to USU, BYU, and Utah last year with your championship team. There's no reason to assume that you'll win any of those games this year with a weaker team when Utah and USU will be much stronger.

But enough about what if's. Who have you got coming back? Who have you signed that is going to be an impact player? Who have you got on your roster that can handle Braydon Bell and Gary Wilkinson, both 6'9" and 240. One a JC all American, the other signed by Ohio State? Who do you have that can handle Jaycee Carroll? Who do you have that can handle Tai Wesley, Tyler Newbold, Pooh Williams? Who do you have that can even handle the 6'10" African kid Niang, or the 6'11" Vaitekus? Who do you have who can handle the lightening quick JC PG the Ags just signed? You have no one.

Who do you have who can handle Green, Deane, Nevill from Utah? Who do you have who can handle the JC transfers that Utah signed, Calasan at 6'8" and 240 and the Kepkay kid who led the nation in scoring? You have no one.

If you beat either USU or Utah, enjoy it, because it will be a HUGE upset.
