Re: Houston Baptist Predictions

After watching the CU game it is obvious the team needs to get better at running the ball. CU looked really good at the run defense so maybe we will look better with another FCS team. I liked the way the team played hard the whole game and didn't give up. I also watched the Montana game and they loo...

Re: Offensive Coordinator

Who really cares who is related to whom if the job is getting done? Would be upset if Archie Manning was head coach, Peyton Manning was his assistant coach and Eli Manning was playing for us and Peyton's wife got the plane tickets and we won a lot more games than with the previous coaching staff? I...

Re: Offensive Coordinator

I thnk Max will be OK as our offensive coordinator. He does lack experience at that position,, but he does have the ability to work closely with the head coach who probably will be making most of the offensive decisions anyway. That is probably why coach Baldwin left the program at the last moment b...

Re: Welcome Jerry Schemmel! New voice of the Bears!

This is surprisingly good news. How could KFKA afford him when they couldn't afford Troy? Also, what happened to the guy they brought in to replace Troy? Looks like Jason Alvine is now with the Women's basketball team. https://uncbears.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/jason-alvine/790

Early team outlook

If you want to view a good preview of the positions on the team this year check out the analysis by Aaron Rath's radio podcast. It's nice to see some interest on the team this Summer. Looking forward to getting some wins this year after so many losing seasons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wSSYhM...

Re: Fire Ed

Two words. Fire him. Ed McCaffrey should be gone before he ever coaches a game. He isn't the right person for the job and as an alumni, I wouldn't send my son to play for him. To start, his own kids live in the transfer portal. What happened to the days of "Work hard and figure it out". I...

Re: Coaching Carousel

Does it seem strange to anyone that we have not posted a replacement for the team's offensive coordinator yet? It would appear that they would want someone to be in the position to bring in a new playbook and philosophy to the team as early as possible so that the players have something to study and...

Re: Coaching Carousel

It must be hard to find someone at this late in the program to take over as offensive coordinator. They have been working on trying to set up a system and then at the last moment they might have to start from square one again. Is there anyone on the current staff that could continue with the offense...

Re: Coaching Carousel

It must be hard to deal with all the problems of keeping everyone onboard in this Covid disruption. I wonder if the assistant coaches were getting their full pay while they were not allowed to be working with the players. It might be a factor in the turnover. Hopefully things will get settled down a...

Re: CSC scrimmage and other musings

Why are we not hearing about things that are happening in Spring practice? Do any of you local Greeley people ever visit the practice field to check out how things look or is there no one who cares about what is going on with the team? I visit the UNC web site regularly and didn't even read that we ...

Re: Luke McCaffrey to transfer from Nebraska

Was surprised to see this news yesterday. I know Nebraska fans had high hopes of the next Eric Couch in Lincoln. I would assume he targets a contender in the ACC or SEC? Maybe he and Dylan will both come to UNC to make it a family affair. They could have some fun and still get a chance to get notic...

Re: Kyle Sloter officially NFL QB !!!

Hope he gets a chance to play and do well. He has been in the mix and has the talent to be a great QB. It can only help with our recruiting to have future recruits know that they too might someday be in the NFL.

Re: UNC Basketball begins December 22nd

Had to google Dixie State, shocked that a school in Utah has that name: "In 1916, the academy, located in a region called "Utah's Dixie" by Brigham Young and local settlers,[12] became Dixie Normal College" Back on topic, I am surprised that there are no home non-conference game...

Do any of you local Greeley fans know what the QB situation looks like this year from the fall practice. I see that one of our recruits Nate Overholt is not on the roster. What happened to him?

Looks like a good fit for him at UNC. A small guy with lot of grit and smarts. Hope he has a good year and helps make UNC a better team. I am looking forward to see how we do this year. Can't be much worse than these last few years.

Is there any good news to this recruiting problem? It seems that all we hear about are people not wanting to come here. Do we have anyone that Smiley recruited that wants to be here?

Re: Wyoming strikes again

This is starting to look more like a bad divorce than a change of coaching jobs where one party is taking the house the car and custody of the kids. At least when Boyle left home he didn't take the coaches and kids.

Re: Smiley named head coach

Good news for the Bears. Now the big question for me, is how well can the Bears recruit? I think coach Smiley will be great with the game plan, but the coaches need to get talented D1 players to work with. They have good talent coming back and that should be a good start.

Linder's Replacement

It is always hard to lose a good coach, but that is the way it is now days in the coaching world. The good ones move up and the bad ones move on. I would hope they hire coach Smiley and can keep the rest of the current staff. They all seemed to work well together and did a good job recruiting.
