This is starting to look more like a bad divorce than a change of coaching jobs where one party is taking the house the car and custody of the kids. At least when Boyle left home he didn't take the coaches and kids.

Wyoming just announced they're changing their colors to Blue and Gold. And their new mascot is Klawz the Cowboy.
That is frustrating. It just goes to show that many of these kids commit to a coach, rather than a school. I hope Linder does well but Larimer might be more difficult to recruit to than Greeley. It's cold, out in the middle of nowhere and they haven't won there for many, many, years. It's been what, 3 decades since Fennis Dembo days?

Yes, there may be a reason Wyoming, despite its size, is the least populous of fifty US states.
Since 1988 (the Fennis Dembo days), Wyoming has made March Madness exactly twice. That's just one more time than UNC, and we've only been eligible since 2006.
Wyoming's Sweet 16 run with Fennis in the 1980s was lightning in a bottle and may never be replicated. That team featured not one but two future NBA players. While Fennis is #1 on Wyoming's career scoring list, his 6'11 teammate Eric Leckner is #5, and played in the NBA for 8 years.

This issue came out in November 1987. Expectations were high for Dembo's senior season 1987-88 because the previous Spring Wyoming had made a run to the Sweet 16. To get there they had to upset a stacked UCLA squad (6 NBA players, including future Hall of Famer Reggie Miller). Dembo went off for 41/9/6, shooting 7/10 on threes. Leckner added 20 and 14.
Unfortunately Wyoming didn't make it out of the first round the following year, getting upset by 15-seed Loyola Marymount. Fennis finished with only 14 points, in a 119-115 loss. Loyola averaged 110 points a game under coach Paul Westhead, who would soon leave LM to coach the Denver Nuggets. Loyola had Hank Gathers who averaged 32 points a game during his junior season. Sadly, Gathers passed away during a game his senior season.
Is there any good news to this recruiting problem? It seems that all we hear about are people not wanting to come here. Do we have anyone that Smiley recruited that wants to be here?

Article states the kid never visited Laramie. As people know Laramie can be a tough sell. He's from a town in Texas so maybe they're similar?
Williams is from a Houston suburb so unless he takes regular weekend trips out to rural Texas, Laramie is a long way from home. Especially in the cold and windy winter time. That being said, I imagine that during basketball season, the players are so busy it goes by fast.
