2008 Recruiting Thread

I was expecting more "drop downs" too, but I don't think the roster is complete. There's always additions and subtractions before the spring game. Generally, this class looks good on paper.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but the Viks added another WR today:

DERIC DAVIS, JR, 5-11, 185, WR, Pittsburg, CA (Pittsburg HS/City College of San Francisco)

PREVIOUS TO PORTLAND STATE
Played two seasons at City College of San Francisco... earned All-NorCal Conference honors both years... his team won its conference championship, the California State Championship and was voted the 2007 National Champions.

Lettered in football and basketball at Pittsburg High School... was All-League, All-East Bay and All-Bay Area as a wide receiver.

PERSONAL INFORMATION
Son of Lenny Davis and Kris Griffin... born January 27, 1987... has two sisters, Keilee and Breanna... undecided major... hobbies are music and basketball. /users/31/07/37/smiles/880372.gif

"Hubel to Davis, he's going to score!. Touchdown Portland State!"

I can get used to that. /users/31/07/37/smiles/880372.gif

The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the size of our receivers. We don't have any of the "typical" receivers that are 6'3"+. I know the slot receivers will be smaller (Look at Wes Welker), but I would think you'd want a little size on the outside. Fade routes in the endzone are not as easy when the receiver is as tall as the CB.

I'm excited for next year. Hubel in his second year, and McClintock back from his injured knee. I can't wait for September!!!

What about Bramow and Smith? 6'4 and 6'5. They don't have breakaway speed, but fade routes in the redzone from the X and Z reciever spots should be possible if they can get a step on the corner.

Looks like the Vikings recruited a father and son tandem. Nick Gale is a freshman D-end. Under coaches, Nick Gale is coaching D-ends. Josh Fetter is listed as D-line coach.
