Whoo hoo Nevin Freakin Lewis :)
Man this guy is AWESOME!!!
So he's gonna play for PSU? WOW!!! so cool, a guy i kno is gonna play college ball!
check out this site http://www.culveroregonfootball.com/index.html

We won't hear anything official until signing day but if it is true then welcome to PSU Nevin! Can you provide any more info on Nevin like size, season stats, targeted position at PSU, etc.? I love that we are getting small town players.

GO VIKS!

Well i dont kno forsure if he is going to PSU, but you kno thats what ive heard!
Well lets talk about him, he's 6'2" 190 LBS, he runs a 4.5-40, he's a phenomonal athlete that prettymuch sums it up right there ha!
Well i dont kno what postion he wants to be but i do kno that he loves offense because he likes having the ball in his hands, if offense probably WR, he also likes defense though because a game can be won defensly also, if defense then DB (probably S)FoSho!!!
Wel lets see season stats, i dont kno them all but one i do know is that he had atleast 1000 yards rushing(he was a QB)!!!
Also the Culver Bulldog team went 11-2 im pretty sure, only losing to knappa in the state championship and also lakeview in a pre season game. Last year they were STATE CHAMPS!!!

Spencer Hagan a 6'4' WR offered last spring was just named first team all state in california for his division. He said he is down to three choices, PSU, Montana State where he will take an official visit in two weeks and a preferred walk on offer from Cal.

I think it'd be great if they could get the younger Hagan. The team lacked big, physical receivers and he would definitely fit in nicely if his brother ends up starting at some point. PSU sounds to be in very good position to land him.

"I took my visit to Portland state," Hagan said. "The visit went really well. My older brother goes there so it would be great to play with him."

"I love the coaching staff, they're all great guys," Hagan said. "The program is really on the rise too. They were down a few years ago, but the coaching staff has done a great job and now people know that they have serious talent there."

He would be a huge get. As WiViking said, we lack size at the X and Z spots and that really hurt us last year. When you don't have a guy who can go up and get the ball in single coverage, down field really doesn't open up. Younger Hagen would really help and a drop down transfer with size and speed wouldn't hurt either.

Neither one of us gets him. :(

Sacramento (Calif.) Capital Christian receiver Spencer Hagan has decided to walk on at Cal, according to his father, Scott."It can be tough to say no to a full ride (Portland State and Montana State) but Cal is his dream school and they have told him he has a real shot at this if he pours his heart into it, said Scott Hagan."

The 6-4 Hagan camped at Cal during the summer and was an all-state selection in 2008 for Capital Christian. Last year, he teamed with his brother, Kramer, to form one of the top pass-catch combos in the West. Kramer is a freshman quarterback at Portland State.

It sounded like Spencer Hagan was talked into walking on Cal. Can't really blame him for wanting to play for a FBS team.

Is the other star from Culver hs, Austin Alley, I believe is his name, being recruited by Portland State or anyone else?

Doesn't look like the Viks will land Myles Wade, but I found this part of the article interesting:

"Fall term came and Christmas was now in sight. Myles dug into school. He had an offer in hand from Portland State University and has stated to me that Coach Jerry Glanville and his staff are some of the best people he has every met. "

Thurston QB Pearson makes verbal commitment to Portland State

Thurston senior quarterback Tym Pearson has made a verbal commitment to play football at Portland State, both his coach and mom confirmed to me this afternoon. I’ve got a message into Tym, who is up at a baseball camp in Portland today.

Pearson was the Class 5A offensive player of the year after leading the Colts to the state final. He was 233-for-336 for 3,576 yards and 44 touchdowns this season and ran for 875 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Portland State coach Jerry Glanville was at Thurston visiting Pearson on Wednesday.

“Portland State got a steal and they know that,” Thurston coach Justin Starck said. “They feel like they got one of the best athletes around that for one reason or another some other schools did not go after.”

Pearson is also one of the state’s top baseball recruits who could be selected in the major league draft in June.

Thurston’s quarterback will sign with Vikings, but is keeping an eye on his baseball draft status

Thurston senior Tym Pearson has made a verbal commitment to play football at Portland State, but the two-sport star could have a decision to make if he gets picked in the major-league baseball draft this summer.

Pearson, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback, committed to the Vikings last week and got a visit from PSU coach Jerry Glanville, the former NFL coach, on Wednesday.

“When I went to Portland State on an official visit, they really embraced all the recruits and I related with the coaching staff well,” Pearson said. “They made me feel welcome, they were sincere and genuine people. It was definitely something I could see myself being a part of. The whole time I put myself in the position of how well I could acclimate to that atmosphere and what I can do to contribute as well. It was a phenomenal experience.”

Pearson was the Class 5A offensive player of the year after leading the Colts to the state final. He threw for more than 3,600 yards and 44 touchdowns while running for 875 yards and 18 touchdowns in Thurston’s no-huddle offense that he said is similar to what Portland State runs.

The Vikings led all Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) schools with 372.2 passing yards per game last year.

“They are based on the run-and-shoot, and they led the nation in passing yards,” Pearson said. “I think I can do what they do well.”

Pearson plans to sign with the Vikings when the signing period begins on Feb. 4.

Pearson was also a second-team all-state selection in baseball last year while leading the Colts to the state championship game. He is considered one of the top professional prospects in the state and could be drafted in June.

“I’m just going to play the season out, work hard and continue to get better and see how things work out with the draft,” said Pearson, who was at a hitting camp in Portland on Thursday. “I’ve had quite a few scouts contact me and come visit and see me hit at the school and other places.”

Pearson said he also heard from Washington State, Montana State, Eastern Washington, and Western Washington for football. He impressed colleges last summer when he scored a 104 out of 105 on a drill that tests speed, strength, and agility at a Nike football combine in Hillsboro.

Thurston football coach Justin Starck has said he thinks Pearson could play quarterback or defensive back in the Pac-10.

“Portland State got a steal and they know that,” Starck said. “They feel like they got one of the best athletes around that for one reason or another some other schools did not go after.”

Sweet. We got Kalua Noa! This team is really getting some talent, probobly because of the Run and Shoot and Jerry Glanville's pedigree.

I think that unless they go winless next season he should get a fourth year so that some of these guys can come to fruition as Sophmores and Juniors. Then we could also get another good class next year.
