2011 Sac State Schedule

As if Sperbeck and Wanless didn’t have enough on their hands right now, they still have to lock down a schedule for 2011. Given the high expectations of being in playoff contention, the schedule will be crucial to obtaining that goal. This was posted on the BSC website and it’s dated July 1st, 2008. Unless there were serious changes, the conference schedule is as follows. I just noticed that the conference schedule is identical to the 2010 only that the home teams were swapped. I wonder if this was intentional or I am looking at a non updated version.

http://www.bigskyconf.com/sports/2008/6/25/Future Schedules.aspx?tab=scheduledrafts

Week 1, Sept 3rd: @ Arizona State (can someone confirm this?)
Week 2, Sept 10th: OPEN (Hopefully it’s filled with an FCS game, USDiego would be great here)
Week 3, Sept 17th: @ Weber State
Week 4, Sept 24th: vs. Montana
Week 5, Oct 1st: @ Montana State
Week 6, Oct 8th: @ Northern Colorado
Week 7, Oct 15th: OPEN (Great week for a bye.)
Week 8, Oct 22nd: vs. Eastern Washington
Week 9, Oct 29th: vs. Northern Arizona
Week 10, Nov 5th: @ Portland State
Week 11, Nov 12th: vs. Idaho State
Week 12, Nov 19th: OPEN (Causeway?)

There are some options with this schedule. USD would probably want a home and home but I think it’s worth it. It would be an easy game following the annual FBS money game and traveling to SD would allow some fans to make the trip (plus it serves me well :D ). Also the trip to SoCal would be a great for recruiting. CP is playing at UM in week 2 so I don’t think we will see them on the schedule this season. If the Causeway is held for the last game of the season then the bye would fit perfectly in week 7.

Also of note, for the most part our opponents will either be facing UM or EWU the week before they play us.

What I don’t like is the back to back weeks against UM and MSU. This will be the second year in a row that happens. Also a bye before EWU has not served this program well at all in the past.

Mods, please get a sticky on this thread.

I don't know why, but for some reason, I have it in my head that we're playing @ Oregon State week one and that ASU is 2013.

I think you're right on this, Kadeezy. I was talking with Wanless during tailgating prior to the Portland State game, and he mentioned Oregon State in 2011, Arizona State in 2012 and Colorado in 2013.

If this is how the schedule shakes out, I'm NOT happy. The natural HC based on schedule is EWU. That's almost as bad as a couple of years ago when Montana was homecoming.

STUPID....

Why do you worry about crap like this? Actually, I think it would help draw very well thank you. When was the last time you even went to a home game?

Oregon State is the 2011 opener
Arizona State the2012 opener
Colorado the 2013 opener
Washinton the 2014 opener

or at least these are the 4 FBS opponents the next 4 years according to a fantastic marketing piece on the
Hornet football program that ran twice on TV during the Davis game. Would love to find this piece. It was very well done and is probably being used for recruitment. Hope to see it up and running on the Hornetsports
website soon. It gets you fired up about Hornet football and is nothing but positives.

Thanks for the clarification. For some reason I had AZ State stuck in my mind as next seasons’ opener. Good to see us playing Pac-10 schools and the deep pockets that they have. Let’s just hope the financial situation of the athletic department is such that a second money game per season isn’t needed.

Dr. Wanless said that we had just signed with Oregon State during the Idaho State broadcast. Oregon State's website has not been updated and still shows a opening for Sept 3rd. I believe that the Arizona State game is in 2013 not 2012.

yes.

probably put those games not in correct order, but apparently those 4 Pac 10 teams are indeed the openers for the next 4 years. Believe the correct order is on that marketing piece.

The latest from Oregon State website:

Oregon State will open the 2011 season by hosting Sacramento State at Reser Stadium. The game is scheduled for Sat., Sept. 3.

The Beavs then face Wisconsin in Madison in Week 2, followed by the only bye on their schedule. Oregon State returns to the field and begins Pac-12 play against UCLA on Sept. 24.

Oregon State's final non-conference game, at home against BYU, is slated for Oct. 15.

Homecoming is scheduled for Nov. 15, as OSU plays host to Stanford.

Sac State was 6-5 this season, the program’s first winning year since 2000. They finished in a three-way tie for third in the Big Sky Conference at 5-3. The Hornets’ three league defeats were by a combined 10 points.

Wisconsin (11-1) this season is ranked No. 4 in the AP and Coaches' polls, and No. 5 in the BCS. They meet TCU in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. BYU is 6-6 on the year an meets UTEP in the New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 18.

Season ticket renewals for the 2011 Beaver season will be available starting Feb. 1 at osubeavers.com.

The 2011 Oregon State schedule (subject to change)
Sept. 3 Sacramento State
Sept. 10 at Wisconsin
Sept. 17 Bye
Sept. 24 UCLA
Oct. 1 at Arizona State
Oct. 8 Arizona
Oct. 15 BYU
Oct. 22 vs. Washington State (@ Qwest Field, Seattle)

Nov. 5 Stanford (Homecoming)
Nov. 12 vs. California (@ AT&T Park)
Nov. 19 Washington (Dad’s Weekend)
Nov. 26 at Oregon

If OSU can do a roadie at a 3-8 school in a I-A league Sagarin-rated lower than the Big Sky, why can't they do a roadie at a better-than .500 school IN the Big Sky?!?

I think its funny OSU ads are starting to appear on the boards now.Bring on the Bevs! Will be a sweet road trip

You will NEVER, EVER see a PAC-200 school playing on the road at an FCS venue. Most BCS and FBS conferences have bylaws that prevent an FBS team playing at an FCS stadium.

Yeah no kidding. I got a good kick out of that too. UM won’t have an experienced QB returning, they lose their stud RB Reynolds (who for some reason was used sparingly this season) as well as their playmaking WR Sambrano topped off with obvious struggles under the new coaching system and some are predicting UM to waltz through the BSC in 2011 like the good old days.

Do you mean WAZZU? That’s part of why they’re playing in Seattle instead of out in the Palouse.

The OSU alumni rag has the Sept. 3 date open. The Hornets aren’t even on their radar yet.
