The Skyview Storm had quite a season and even though it did not end the way they wanted it to last weekend at the Tacoma Dome they have much to be proud of. Led by their 6'2", 230 powerhouse QB Kieran McDonagh the Storm looked a little out of sorts against a Skyline squad who always rise inside the Dome.
Kieran had a great year statistically and showed signs of his big time potential as he flew around the field on a few broken runs. And there were some excellent balls thrown too.
He had an offer earlier this year from the PSU Vikings who at the time had offers out to about 15 of the Regions best. Then Grant High School phenom QB Paris Penn accepted the Vikings offer to play QB there and McDonagh found himself in limbo.
So he dug in and won several games in a row and had some huger performances against Bellermine Prep and Lake Stevens which rekindled the Vikings interest.
"I was re-offered by Portland State and accepted it! I have committed to the Vikings and am very excited to be competing for the QB spot next year," he said today by phone.
No doubt it takes a durable QB who can run in Coach Nigel Burton's Pistol offense and Kieran is a young man who has a shot at getting that spot for the Viks who were 7-4 this year and one of the most improved teams in the country.
McDonagh joins 10 top recruits from Oregon who have been lured to the Park Blocks and stand out Washington prep stars Uso Olive (Federal Way), Josh Hanson (Tumwater), and Chevy Walker (Eastside Catholic).
Coach Burton has made it clear that any athlete in the I-5 Corridor who is not headed to a PAC 12 school should be a Viking and is certainly making his case with this recruiting class.
