We graduated 16 but do not know how many were on scholarship. Since we can do partials in FCS, how many guys can a team sign?

63 scholarships can be split 83 ways. I think most of the Seniors were full scholarship guys. I can only think of 2-3 that maybe were not. That said, I think we'll sign around 12-13 scholarship players with some others being preferred walk-ons.
DJ Martin will be a prop so that does not count as a scholarship. Have to wonder who is out there the coaches are holding a scholarship for in the event an offer gets pulled from another school but even if we only end up with the current commits this class looks pretty strong.

Is that confirmed he's a Prop?

From the Los Angles Times Vasity Blog: Receiver Keonte White from Slymar HS has commiited to Easternn Washington.

Link: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/varsitytimesinsider/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hudl link: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/716728/keonte-white" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Looks like a typical EWU WR. Big, strong with good hands.

Nice pick up for EWU. Long strider, faster than he looks, same moves as Kaufman on the comeback throws and he actually shows blocking in the HUDL video. Physical, fast and plays with attitude. :D

Rumor has it that Keonte will be coming in as a Cornerback, not as a Wide Receiver...

Well, if that's true we will have two 6'4" Cornerbacks. :lol:

Baldwin following Pete's defensive model? :D

Found this on a Cal blog.

247 ranks DJ as a 4-star prospect (94 grade) and the #14 running back in the nation

Rivals.com ranks DJ as a 4-star prospect and the #24 running back in the nation

Scout.com ranks DJ as a 3-star prospect and the #35 running back in the nation

Hey Ranger, I am seeing Scout has him 70th RB, 247Sports 24th and Rivals 49th. What a great addition to the Eagles. :D

The article was from last March so I'm sure the numbers have changed since then. Awesome to get Pac-12 talent...again.

DJ had offers from Bama, Oregon, and Tennessee??? I find this hard to believe.

http://247sports.com/Recruitment/DJ-Martin-14859/RecruitInterests" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Apparently it's true. :shock:

D.J. Martin, a top running back recruit, committed to Cal Monday night per multiple reports. Martin stars for Bakersfield (Calif.) Stockdale. In addition to Cal, Martin also held offers from Alabama, Georgia Tech, Oregon, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, UCLA, USC and Tennessee. Martin is rated four-stars by most of the recruiting services.

Martin stands 5'11" and 205 pounds. He has a great build for a running back recruit. And he uses his frame to run low to the ground, with balance, power and fluidity. Martin might not have great speed (claims a 10.8 100 meter), but he certainly isn't slow. This is an excellent pickup for Cal, as the Bears are getting a back capable of carrying the load throughout the entire season.

It is unknown whether Martin will visit other schools or shut down his recruiting process entirely.

Martin is the second commitment for Cal, which also picked up a commitment from quarterback Jared Goff over the weekend.

lets get serious, with offers from Alabama and all those schools, there is no way he is not a Prop. the staff usually signs one or two of academic risk players a year in hopes that they hit a home run. this is a huge recruit for Eastern, lets just hope he can get his academics in order his grayshirt year so that he actually sees the field.

Heard anything about this guy? Did he do a visit?

Possibly, but they list him at 5'11, which he most certainly is not. He's 5'10 at best, but probably 5'9 like most of the sites say. He's certainly got a solid build though, and can run the ball both outside and inbetween the tackles.

Hopefully they are better at defending the 2 minute drill. :cry:

Slo always has good info on Cali recruiting, so I was hoping he had some more to share with us about EWU verbals... :D

I was posting the article that was in the OC Register and realized it had already been posted. Tago said he was not taking any trips this weekend and would use the time to decide. I bet we hear something today or tomorrow.

I don't think Eastern is expecting any new commits. I heard that there are 18 or 19 in total, and all but 5 were committed for the last few weeks. There obviously won't be any jostling unless someone falls off over the next few days, as no one can make any contact from Eastern's side.

FORT COLLINS -- Like every program, when the recruits come in for a visit, Colorado State feeds them.

When Evan Colorito, a linebacker out of Beaverton, Ore., came to Fort Collins, he and the other recruits headed off to Old Chicago for a meal and a chance to meet with the coaching staff. But what also caught his attention was the fact the coach's wives were there, too.

Not only that, they were engaged in what was going on, being part of the welcoming committee. Not only where they answering questions, they were asking them, showing an interest.

They weren't part of the scenery, they were part of the family.

"Our coaching staff and their wives really welcome these recruits and their families here, and I can't tell you what a great job they do," Colorado State coach Jim McElwain said. "Really, the parents get a great sense they're coming to a place where their sons are going to be taken care of and looked after. I credit that to all the people involved in the organization. When these guys are on their visits, they're doing a great job of letting these guys know they're coming to a family, not just a school."

McElwain said having the coaches' wives take part is something he picked up on at other places he's been. He sold the notion of family to the team he inherited last year, and he wants to show prospective Rams that extends beyond the playing field and locker room.

McElwain will tell you it's not just window dressing, saying the wives play a bigger part in the program than people might think.

"Our wives, they put up with a lot now," McElwain said with a chuckle. "For them to be involved -- and they are; they're as important a backbone into what we're doing as anything. When the parents and kids can see that they're involved as well, I can't tell you how important that is. I credit them, because we put our wives through a lot."
